After reading all the wonderful reviews on their page about how responsive and communicative they are, we were really disappointed. Kane is a good sitter if you’re going completely off grid on your vacation or don’t care to know how your babies are doing. Every single day we had to call, text, leave voicemails to get any sort of update. We kept telling them we are not able to rest or enjoy our trip not knowing if our Nacho is doing okay - we asked for photo updates which was specified on our profile and we had asked them to. When we finally got Kane to answer their phone, it was their guest - whom we know NOTHING about - that spoke to us. Which was another thing we mentioned in our profile. We are okay with guests staying over as long as we have their info - we don’t even have their last name, just that I met them briefly before running to the airport. On the third day we had enough - we cut our trip short and rushed home. We lost so much money, cancelled our trip to Florida, and had to book a last minute flight. We couldn’t enjoy or feel any kind of peace. Kane must’ve cared for Nacho and took him on his walks, but what’s the point of using house sitters, allowing a stranger into our home and to care for our baby if we are going to be stressed out because of their lack of communication? We’ve used house sitters before and was never ever worried or stressed. We’ve never had any problems with it which is why we confidentially picked the first person who applied to sit for Nacho. That was our mistake. But we now know better.
This was Matt and Jo's second sit and it was every bit as successful as the first. They are very easy to communicate with and keep in touch just the right amount with updates on Henry and some great photos. They are very experienced cat sitters who obviously love animals and both enjoy and are respectful of the house. I look forward very much to them coming again!
We would rate our experience of Susan (aka Penelope) as very poor and could never recommend her for house-sitting. Over the years we’ve had a number of wonderful house-sitters and, in our view, Susan does not compare at all favourably with any of her predecessors. The worst parts of the experience were returning home to a burnt hole in our wood flooring; the emergency cash we left being used without any receipts and or explanation as to what the emergencies were; a large phone bill for international calls made while we were away; my clothes being worn and damaged while I was away; a scratch down the side of my car that wasn’t there when we left; my pets being left unattended overnight and locked in for so long that they had to relieve themselves inside the house; strangers letting themselves into my home while Susan went away overnight without having asked us if that was ok. It ended badly with us having to ask Susan to leave and make alternative arrangements. Our miserable experience was made worse through lack of support from Zeewoi, who at least refunded us our membership fees.
