A lovely home, gorgeous location and truly wonderful dogs. We really enjoyed our housesit at Margaret and Charlie’s beautiful home and truly enjoyed taking care of Freddy, Amber and Bertie. Freddy, Amber and Bertie are very special and so cute together when taken out for their walks. All three love plenty of exercise, show great interest in what’s going on and like to “supervise” everything you do. It's so nice to see they all get along together and we’ll miss spending our evenings by the fireplace with them. Freddy is the senior of the three, very smart, charming, beautiful, loyal and always checking that everybody is happy. He is a great leader especially for Amber as he’s very calm and reassuring. Amber is a beautiful girl, so elegant and graceful with the most amazing expressive eyes imaginable. She’s shy but once she trusts humans, she shows a very attentive, funny, playful, inventive side and she’s always upbeat. We were very patient with her and spent plenty of time walking and grooming to help her building a bond with us. Bertie has joined the pack most recently. He’s so adorable and loves nothing more than being with people. He is confident, yet sensitive and really thrives on getting affection. Margaret and Charlie are very kind and caring and it is very special to see how they offer a loveable and relaxing home for rescued dogs. Their home is so peaceful, surrounded by a lot of land which gives the dogs the space they need. The views over orange orchards and mountains at their home are simply stunning! They are clear and concise about Freddy, Amber and Bertie’s needs which makes it easy to follow whilst they allowed us to give the three amigos a special holiday (meaning lots of exploring, walking, playing, grooming, chilling and cuddling). We were so sad leaving - and we’d love to see Margaret, Charlie, Freddy, Amber and Bertie again in the future.
Barley is a loving doodle! His sweet eyes and overall countenance stop traffic- literally! Be prepared for even New Yorkers (!) to ask for a few minutes of chatting and petting. I spent a chilly week before Christmas at Jill and Yannick’s. Like most caring pet owners, they are the best people ;). The apartment is right AT a subway stop. Secure doorman building, nice neighbors. Uber tidy apartment with unusually ample kitchen for NYC. Barley is no trouble at all and the park next door is his place to socialize and conduct “business”. He’s ok being alone for a few hours at a time, but don’t leave out anything tempting on counters- he’s a tall clever boy;) I’d happily return tomorrow!
Kathy has three dogs, all beautiful girls, and each with their own distinctive personality. Even though there are three of them, walking them was never a problem. Everyone towed the line! It was an absolute pleasure looking after Molly, Luna, and Maisie. Kathy has a very straightforward, to-the-point personality which we very much appreciated. But there is such a deep, unconditional love she has for dogs. She often fosters others, so this house is dog central. Communication with Kathy while she was away was easy. She's not one to need continuous updates, but is happy to know her 'children' are in good hands and doing well. These three are beautiful souls and yes, we will certainly look after them again. In fact, we are returning in September to do just that and we're really looking forward to it. Kathy's home is comfortable and so conveniently located; we could walk to everything, including the Shipyards Night Market on Fridays during the summer. Really looking forward to ‘Rinse-n-Repeat’ when we return in the autumn! 😊
It was a pleasure to sit for Albert and Simone! They are very shy but so sweet and over the course of a few days warmed up to me enough for some cheek scratches and play time. Christina was really easy to communicate with and super welcoming. The apartment was comfortable and tidy and the backyard was lovely as the weather warmed. I love the neighborhood - it’s easy to get around, close to anything you need as well as multiple subway lines. I would love to stay again!
Madelene has a lovely home, tucked away on a gorgeous, quite, property. We absolutely loved her dog, Belle, and her two kitties. Belle was so affectionate and well behaved the whole weekend. Would love to come back and house sit anytime!
Jen is a great hostess and pet owner, so organised and meticulous; everything was in perfect order for a smooth petsit. Had easy communication before and during the sit, and she was generous and super-attentive to anything I might need. The house is brightly lit and very well-equipped. The fantastic big garden was full of vegetables. And the train station is only a 2 minute walk. Most importantly, Adora and Suki were great to sit for. Adora (aptly named) is adorable and chilled. Suki is playful and so affectionate. Hope I can sit them again soon!
