Nia took care of our two dogs and a cat like they were her own. She is highly experienced when it comes to taking care of animals and she understands their needs and behaviours. She kept updating us about our pets with photos and videos every day and we loved how they showed affection to her, this means that they really liked her. Nia followed our instructions made sure that all of our pet’s individual needs were met. We would love to invite her over to sit for us again.

Jeni
I have mixed feelings about this sit. Jeni was kind enough to pick me up from the train station in Coutras the morning of the day before the sit started. But then her and her partner left that afternoon, after showing me around. This was a day sooner than the agreed dates of the sit, and although I was agreeable with this, I’m not sure what the legal implications would be if something were to go wrong, as it was outside the agreed sit dates.

The dogs, Kiss and Cindy are cute, but they can’t be left unattended in the house or they go to the toilet on the furniture and floor. They are kept in the laundry room at night, and there is almost always a few ‘accidents’ that need cleaning up in the morning. Kiss is an old dog and started behaving strangely about a week into the 2 week sit. When I notified Jeni, she said he has these spells sometimes, but didn’t seem too worried about it. I offered to take him to the vet but she said to just monitor it. A few days after I arrived, I noticed Cindy had a bad case of fleas (evidenced by flea dirt in her fur). When notified, Jeni told me there was some flea medication for both dogs, so I gave it to them, bathed them both, and washed all their bedding. I saw the previous sitter had also mentioned fleas and ticks in her review.

Smudge, the cat comes and goes as he pleases, and eats the cat food in his bowl when he is hungry. He typically spends the night outside and then comes in in the morning to eat and then sleeps most of the day. He does like a scratch on his head, but sometimes bites if you stroke him too much.

The house is just outside the village and Jeni was kind enough to let me use her old bicycle to get to the shops (in the next town). There is also a free bus you can take to the nearby city of Libourne where there are more shops and a farmers market.
The sitters bedroom is at the front of the house near a busy road, and was noisy until after midnight most nights. It was very hot and so sleeping with the windows closed was not an option as there is no air conditioning. I would advise bringing earplugs if you have them.

When Jeni was showing me around the house she complained a lot about previous house sitters breaking things, or using too much water or electricity. It left me feeling a bit worried and hoping I don’t add to the list of complaints. Her vacuum cleaner was very ineffective at picking up the pet hair from the rugs, but ‘a previous sitter had broken her good one’. I was asked not to use the oven because it uses too much electricity. This wasn’t really a problem because it was too hot to turn on the oven anyway 🥵. Keeping water use to a minimum was also requested, which was difficult given the number of times I was required to wash the floors and dog linens.

The garden is extensive, and required at least 45 minutes a day to water.

I will not be a repeat sitter here.

Vivian was very relax and easy with the organisation. Her little cat Mouse is just adorable, we spent a lot of time with him, he is really affective and cute. The house is a real family place, quiet and relaxing. Thank you Vivian!

Magdalena
Fideo, Claudio and Juan are kings!!! My sister and I had the time of our lives hanging out with these three boys and would do it again in a heartbeat. We applied because we wanted to hang out with kitties and were so lucky that Magda gave us the chance to 🥰.

The cats are wonderful boys, they clearly love each other lots! They cuddle together all the time, it was beautiful to see them in action. Caring for them was easy and straight forward too :D just your regular cat related tasks.

The apartment is amazing, comfortable and in a perfect spot for anyone visiting CDMX. So much in fact that even though we live really close by, we ended up visiting one of Magda’s food spot recs and now we’re obsessed haha (seriously, those esquites are ADDICTIVE).

I’d recommend this sit to anyone looking for a comfy place with the best feline company!

Brian and Carol
Brian and Carol are wonderful hosts. We spent 11 days with Rusty and were tempted to take him home with us, he is such a lovely dog! The house is beautiful and in a great location, and their communication and instructions for the house and for Rusty were excellent. They are very warm and friendly people, and we would have loved to spend more time getting to know them. We highly recommend this house sit, and are grateful to Brian and Carol.

It was a pleasure to look after Woody in Kate’s lovely house in Portmarnock. We enjoyed walks on the beach and were kept entertained by Woody’s love of food. Thank you to Kate and her girls for their hospitality.
