Watson and Simone sweet cats, relatively easy care. Watson sleeps in bed with you and very vocal when hungry in the morning. Simone a bit shy, but was on my lap after a few days. Beautiful property and well lived-in old family home.
We house sat for Kathy and Dave in October and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house is lovely and overlooks gently rollings hills in the valley below. There are plenty of places, indoor and outdoor, to sit, read a book, enjoy a cup of coffee or a glass of wine, and enjoy the views. For those who enjoy cooking, the kitchen has everything you'll need to put together some great meals. The cats are easy to take care of, as are the chicken which, as Kathy mentioned to us, just need to see the broom to head back to the coop when free range pecking time is over. Dave has created a thorough house sit 'manual' that included everything we could need, including a number of maps of VA and bordering states, VA districts, and other information on places of local interest. We did not get to meet Dave and Kathy in person but they were quick to respond to our emails prior to the sit, and a Skype call provided a bit of face to face time. All in all a great sit.
It was a pleasure to sit Ellie. She's low-maintenance but she definitely knows how to leverage her tremendous cuteness to get all the pets! It's easy to become quickly emotionally attached to this adorable creature. I found the apartment spotless and functional. The area is also clean and safe, close to amenities and beautiful sights. It's the perfect spot for anyone looking to explore Vancouver, even without a car, as it is close to bus and sky-train routes. I went to a meet-and-greet a month in advance. Colin, Riana and Ellie were very friendly and welcoming. We agreed that I would have access to their bicycle. However, on the day I arrived at the sit, this was retracted. I understand their concern but I feel like this change could have been communicated earlier. Aside from this small complaint, I will cherish fond memories of my time with Ellie and I'm happy to recommend this sit to any potential sitters!
We had an absolutely great time at Julie and Kevin's home! The house was very clean and tidy when we got there and they were very responsive throughout the stay and flexible. We especially enjoyed the fireplace, large yard (for playing frisbee), and the bbq. Though we didn't take care of the dogs this time, we met them and can say that they are very sweet and playful.
