We own a home and land on a little island, we have 3.5 cats, several chickens and a large garden. As I'm sure you can imagine, we usually have quite a lot of applications for our housesit in the Caribbean, and this year we had several excellent couples on our shortlist but Amy and Jerry stood out of the crowd, as they seemed exceptionally resourceful, conscientious, reliable, and trustworthy. As soon as we met them, we were sure that we had made the right decision. They are friendly, kind, and likable people. More importantly, our cats liked them immediately, and it was obvious they are cat people. Even our very shy cat wasn't so scared like he usually is, and has warmed up and made good friends with them. We spent a couple days on island before we left, and got to know Amy and Jerry well enough that we felt absolutely confident and relaxed about leaving our home and overly-spoiled fur-babies in their hands. They have not only lived up to our expectations but have exceeded them as they have endured this overly active and destructive hurricane season. They've gone above and beyond two times over to secure our garden and house, and twice had to evacuate to a friend's shelter with our 3 cats when the storms suddenly and unexpectedly gained strength, all the while handling all the details, power & water outages, etc for us so we had very little to worry about at all. Amy & Jerry were very brave and I can't tell you what a relief it was to know that they were there for us through such a difficult and stressful time. Natural disasters notwithstanding, they've also handled the everyday things with confidence and ease, such as regularly communicating with us, sending cute pics of our cats, maintaining our car that we left for their use, garden watering and light maintenance, dealing with our unreliable internet provider, all the other inconveniences of island life, etc. I really don't think I can properly express how grateful we are that they have been looking after our home and pets for these past 3 months. I can't recommend them highly enough, and we only wish that they could come housesit for us every summer!
Wonderful experience. Thoughtful and caring towards Penny, great communication and apartment looked great on return. Highly recommended.
