Robert house/dog sat for us for 7 weeks. We are so happy with his time in our house and with our dog. He kept the house in immaculate order; more so than when we left on our trip. He took very good care of our large black lab which seemed to bond to him right away. Robert walked the dog several times a day and kept very close watch over her when on daily hikes. While on our trip Robert sent photos and messages several times a week which made us feel even more impressed with his house sitting. He even did some yard work for us to keep the patio and driveway cleaned up. We give Robert an A+ on all accounts and would gladly have him back.
Joan was great with Mogi and I could tell Mogi was comfortable with her, which made it easier to be away. She regularly checked in to let me know how Mogi was doing. I appreciated her gentle, caring attitude!
Anna and Peter were very personable and reliable. They arrived at the time scheduled, having read our welcome guide and purchased groceries. We greatly enjoyed visiting with them over dinner the night before we left. We had minimal communications with them in our absence. We called and texted them several times to check how things were going. They texted several times with questions. Only once did they text us to report how a pet was doing. Typically with zeewoi we hear more often but we did not make a point to ask them for more contact so should not have expected more communication about the animals.. On our return we found the pets happy and healthy. The lawn was freshly mowed. The house was very clean except somehow they missed cleaning the bathroom countertop, toilet and tub. Anna contacted me to report she had laid on a hand quilted throw pillow with wet hair, causing the colors to bleed. I was sad because it is irreplaceable, but appreciate that she told me about it. There was some confusion about the veggie garden watering over the last 3 days. It was very dry when we returned several hours after they left. Not entirely their fault as neighbors coming to leave compost had turned off the hydrant. With closer inspection they may have noticed the drooping tomatoes and very dry soil in most of the raised beds. With closer attention they would have noticed and could have contacted us to find the cause. They did leave us with one mystery. There are stains of unknown original on the courtyard pavers. Anna said they showed up Monday morning before they left but has no idea where they came from. We cannot figure it out either. Hopefully we will be able to remove them. Rural settings with multiple animals can be more complicated than city settings and few animals. Overall, Anna and Peter did a good job. Thank you.
Communication with Emma was great from the start. She offered me a very warm welcome into her home, cooking us a lovely meal the night I arrived. The farmhouse is such an interesting place, so full of character. I loved hearing about its history from Emma. You cannot beat the location and views down to the loch, with so many wonderful walks right on your doorstep. Drum, Teatle and Rabbi were a joy to look after. Drum is incredibly well behaved on and off the lead. Teatle is great too but, given her age, sometimes fails to hear so needs a little more watching when near/crossing roads. Rabbi is very low maintenance, spending most of her day snoozing, with the occasional call for food or attention. Overall a very pleasant sit. If you're looking for a rustic, remote escape, this is ideal. Thanks Emma for having me!
