This was an absolutely wonderful sit. Based on the prime location for exploring the beautiful Causeway Coast and superlative reviews from previous sitters, I knew I was in for a treat, but I enjoyed it even more than I expected. Jane was so warm, generous and welcoming, her home was so lovely and super comfortable for working and relaxing, and Betsy was just the funniest companion, always up for long walks, coffee shop visits, paddles in the sea, and cuddles on the couch. Portrush is friendly and really easy to navigate and the dramatically beautiful coast simple to explore both on foot and by public transport. I had such an excellent time and would visit Portrush and hang out with Betsy and Jane again (and hopefully meet Darren!) in a heartbeat. The perfect THS sit - thanks time many!!!
Max and I thoroughly enjoyed looking after Leslie’s pets! Berk and Clem are two of the most beautiful, calm and well mannered dogs I’ve ever met and Ghost and Boo are not only very self sufficient, but they also enjoy curling up near by and having a pat 😊 The home is stunning and in a very green part of town near the botanic gardens and lots of busy restaurants. Leslie was always prompt responding to any questions we had and the whole experience was honestly lovely. We couldn’t recommend this pet sit enough !!
What a lovely place to be. Phil & Carol have a beautiful and characterful house and stunning gardens, including a lovely walled vegetable garden. It is such a peaceful and quiet spot full of wildlife. They provided clear and helpful information and everything we needed to have an enjoyable sit. The house is spacious while also being cosy, and the WiFi was good. The chickens (the ladies) are adorable and come running and flapping to greet you, hoping for treats. They have a large stable to be in at night (or if you are out for long) and looking after their food, water and a bit of cleaning was a pleasure. Elio and Bronte are such pretty Siamese cats with silky coats. They were so easy to care for - food, a few strokes and they are off again to explore or sleep in the warm greenhouse. Phil and Carol are kind and generous hosts with good hearts, we were privileged to stay here.
Anne and Gordon made us feel at home straight away. Anne was great with all communication and left us a detailed welcome pack, which made everything really easy. We really enjoyed looking after Boris & Bella, they are a lovable pair who stole our hearts. Such a lovely home with beautiful sunsets and the London skyline in the distance. A perfect housesitting we couldn’t recommend it highly enough.
Cintia was very welcoming and communicative about her home and Cica- the adorably comical fluffball that I had the pleasure of looking after. Cica is very easy to care for, and even easier to love. She keeps to herself, politely asks for what she wants, and warms up quickly. Anything she doesn’t like (like being stroked on her back) she’ll let you know by simply moving away from you. Located in Leytonstone, the central line was just 5 minutes walk away and goes straight into London in under half an hour. I would absolutely recommend Cintia and Cica!
Philippa & Jim lives in a beautiful, large & comfortable oak framed house overlooking Louth Golf Club! The house has all mod cons a lovely garden and lots of car parking space. Philippa made my husband feel extremely welcome from the moment he arrived to look after Newt. To cut a very long story short my mother in law was admitted to hospital in Sheffield the first day of the sit consequently I had to stay in Sheffield with Richard’s mum and Philippa kindly agreed for us to look after Newt in Sheffield & then return to Louth once alternative arrangements could be made! Philippa showed Richard around the house and left detailed instructions in the house sitters guide. Communication was great both before & during the sit. The house was in very easy reach of different wooded, country & beach walks for Newt & is situated in a beautiful setting. Louth is very close to the house and is a lovely Georgian market town with shops,cafes etc Newt was a dream to look after considering all the changes she encountered during the week. She was extremely good on her lead but equally happy, when back at home to snuggle down in her bed, on her cushion or even on our laps! She is a sweet & friendly dog and very very easy to look after. We can highly recommend this sit for any dog loving sitters! We would love to return to Lincolnshire if our dates matched and visit again if Philippa & Jim would have us. WORST EXPERIENCE- I called and asked how much it would be for our dog too stay Saturday morning til Tuesday- they quoted me £90 over the phone and said I had too book in for a taster day-which I did! I explained she was a female rotti but no bigger than labador size( very petite), but when I dropped her off for her taster day the owner changed her mind and said I need to pay £35 a day( classed her as a giant dog) So we dropped Millie off Saturday 30th March ( Easter weekend) the girl at the desk said I need to pay extra £35 due to bank holiday- this was never mentioned on the phone or on the taster day, apparently they didn’t realise it was Easter weekend when I booked ( not my problem) . They never respond to emails… awful customer service-wrong prices quoted! Overall terrible experience- looking at previous reviews someone else was over charged a year ago so this isn’t the first time they have done this….. BE CAREFUL!!’ ALSO PAID CASH AND NEVER HAD A RECEIPT …….
Lovely kennels but not such a marvellous experience as last year when a gentleman cared for our difficult dog wonderfully. This years staff not as knowledgeable, so she missed out on a lot. Will use again though very definitely.
We booked Bella in for a taster day prior to us leaving her at the kennels at the end if the month. I had a tour of the facilities and was reassured by talking to the owners that Bella would be well looked after and walked at least four times a day. When we collected her she was relaxed and happy.
Recently put 2 x cats and 2 x dogs into Strawbyn cattery/kennels for 2 weeks. Dogs seem very 'chilled out' when I collect them after 2 weeks.... Dogs have lead walks and there are a couple of secure fields at the kennels where dogs can run free during their exercise times. Kennel sizes vary depending whether you bring 1, 2 or a family of dogs .....
Jane and John are excellent and experienced doggie hosts. We are holidaying in the area and they took our dog on trust for a couple of doggie day care days without a taster day, which we really appreciated. . They have been brilliant with Benson and he certainly enjoyed his experience at Strawbyn. Highly recommended
rude and unhelpful woman answered the phone and wanted to charge me for two days for a 24 hour stay.needless to say i went elsewhere
We recently used the services of Strawbyn to kennel our two dogs Archie and Tilly for two weeks in the summer. What a fantastic place so clean and professionally run by John and his team. Both Archie and Tilly were well looked after by the team and are looking forward to there Holiday next year. I highly recommend Strawbyn to look after your little treasures.
I use Strawbyn Boarding Kennels a lot over the annual period, These guys are amazing with what they have achieved and they are such a professional outfit. I have a beagle called Vinnie and every time i drop him off here he is excited beyond belief, I actually think he suffers from withdrawal symptoms as his holiday was such a great experience. When I was let down a week before my holiday, I contacted Sit Stay! Animal Care with little hope but I had a helpful reply straight away. Chris is accommodating and caring and I can't praise her highly enough. We met up a couple of days later and my dog took to her straight away. I was so relieved to leave Lucy with such a kind and competent person and the almost daily texts and emails meant I didn't have to worry at all during my holiday. Nothing was too much trouble and I would thoroughly recommend her.
I was injured recently and so was unable to look after my mare properly. I was passed Chris' details by another livery on my yard who had used her when she went on holiday and recommended her to me. Chris was absolutely amazing and, due to the unexpected circumstances and urgency for help, she came out to visit me and my mare the very same day that I contacted her. I was reassured by her calm nature and easy going personality. My mare, who can be a bit of a handful, also took to her and was relaxed throughout the week or so that Chris helped me. Chris is punctual, tidy, confident with horses and very reasonably priced. I would have no hesitation in recommending Chris and would definitely use her again in the future.
I have 5 dogs as well as chickens to care for, and have used Mrs Day's pet/house sitting service on many occasions both to live in and for short daily visits. I have complete confidence in her and know I simply 'leave her to get on with' whatever needs doing. Her animal care is exemplary, she is reliable, confident and caring, putting the needs of her charges first. She is always ready to help and has a 'can do' approach stepping in at very short when asked. I would not hesitate to recommend her.
Chris is a genuine lovely lady and done fantastic job not just looking after our 3 cats but also our home while we was on holiday, she even sent us emails just saying how it was going which gave us such peace of mind. She even had no quibbles over having to administer medication to one of my cats. I would highly recommend her and will definitely use again.
I can't rate the service Chris provides highly enough. Our animals love her! She is extremely reliable and takes the trouble to get to know your pets and individual requirements before her first stay. Our two dogs have very different needs: one a good long walk and the other, due to old age, a quick game of ball on the field opposite our house. This can be time consuming but Chris, anxious to maintain the dogs' regular routines, is happy to oblige. She's a considerate house guest too. (Mindful of how much washing holidays generate, she offered to bring a sleeping bag for a short stay.) Pet care when away used to be a real worry for us - often meaning we couldn't make family functions - but, happily, this is no longer the case.
Totally reliable and absolutely brilliant with all our assorted animals we cannot recommend Chris highly enough. It is such a relief to know that we are able to go away and we do not need to worry about them or indeed the house and garden...her service is invaluable... Louise and Xris are lovely human beings. They care deeply about animals and in making sure they are safe and happy. Louise and Xris live their ethics and values and that is important to me. I have 2 kittens who needed transporting to the vets numerous times over a 2 week period. I don’t drive and the bus service is unreliable. Xris has been amazing in looking after and transporting my kittens back and forth and this has relieved me of a huge amount of stress. If you are reading this and wondering whether to get in contact with them, do it, you will not be disappointed! Thank you both x
We have 3 dogs and a cat all have their little peculiarities which makes trusting someone else to look after them a HUGH decision. When we met xris and louise we instantly knew they were animal people and the dogs would trust them. I cannot recommend them enough. Xris looked after, not only the dogs and the cat but also my polytunnel, newly sown seedlings and left the house cleaner than I had. The dogs were happy, chilled and had obviously had a lovely time. Such a good service I’m looking to book another holiday to make up for the 4 years without one!!!!
I am so grateful to Louise for stepping in at the last minute to look after my 16 year old girls, due to our previously booked sitter not being able to do the full week. We had a lovely meeting where she took down all the details about my cats feeding and toileting preferences and I was happy to relax and leave them in her care, as she was so kind and very experienced. We got back to a lovely clean feeding area and set of litter trays. Communication was great throughout our time away. I will definitely use Louise in the future.
Well what can I say, I was very apprehensive about what would happen with the dogs when we went away for 10 nights as kennels have not been the best experience in the past. But from the minute we contacted, Xris and Louise they have been fantastic, they introduced themselves slowly to our 3 (who can be anxious at times) took them for walks prior to the sit which worked amazingly. Communication is fantastic, we had regular updates while we were away letting us know how they were doing. We came home to 3 very happy and very well looked after dogs 🐕. I will definitely be booking again and we have asked for frequent walks to maintain a bond. 5 stars and I'll recommend to anyone I meet. Thanks guys xx
Louise was amazing from start to finish. We abandoned our house to go to our sons wedding, she very kindly looked after our boys and tidied up for me. Absolutely no hesitation in recommending her and Xris to look after your pets and home. If I could give more stars I would ⭐️
Xris and louise was very warm and friendly to talk to and both knew how to handle my 2 and a half year old German shepherd on the meeting alone and was a bit unsure and barky when xris came to walk and him and was best friends by the time they cake back 🤣would definitely recommend xris and louise if your in need of dog walking or any other pet problems you may have ❤️
Brilliant! Odin loved having Xris looking after him! He was very happy and chilled when we come home! They listened so well to learn all they can about Odin and even took him for a walk! Would definitely recommend them to look after your fur baby and would definitely use them again xx
I couldn't recommend these guys enough they stepped in last minute to look after my dogs. Louise took time out if her day to come and meet them all before she stayed the following day. Louise reassured me and put me at ease leaving my dogs in her hands for the day. I had lots of updates and photos though the day. Louise is a true animal lover and so kind and caring. We have never had a house sitter before for our 4 dogs, they can be a handful and have their own quirks!! However the second we met Louise, Xris and holly we knew our gang would be truly looked after and spoiled, nothing was too much trouble, and they did everything we do to make sure the dogs routine was the same. Loads of pictures and updates, and our Gina g looked truly sad when they were leaving! Louise and Xris recently looked after my cats whilst I went away on holiday and have been fantastic. Quick and easy to communicate with and had a visiting plan set up within 24 hours. Very caring and professional couple and would definitely ask them to look after my cats again
