Gioia was a very sweet and communicative host. Talking with us both before, and during the sit, and wanting to make sure everything went well for us, and that we were enjoying ourselves. Her home is wonderful, clean, beautiful setting and a unique experience getting to stay in a 350 year old converted farm house and barn. She has done a beautiful job with the remodel without losing the authenticity of the old world charm it possesses. The village is out of a story book, and by far the most picturesque of those in the area. It does have very limited services, but the bus stop is less than one minute from your front door if you do not have a car and want to go into one of the other larger villages. Walks in the hills and mountainsides abound right from the property. If you are looking for a relaxing break in the French speaking country side of Switzerland, you will not find a nicer area in which to do so. Tchouki is great around the home and loves to play frisbee or catch with a ball. He he will let you know if he’s unhappy, but will quickly bond and follow you around the house, nuzzling you for attention. He can be a challenge on walks. He loves to walk, but can be stubborn when you might want to return home or go a different direction than is his choice. You will need some patience and experience but he will also show you trails you would never find if you allow him to lead. He is incredibly smart and has a perfect map of the area in his head. Prince George and coquette couldn’t be easier. It only took them about a day to get used to us and after that they even slept in the bed with us, always taking turns. Interestingly, Prince George and Tchouki love each other, and always spend a few minutes together in the morning and evening. This sit was a great way to experience the area and be a part of the village for a week. Gioia couldn’t have been more helpful host. If you have the opportunity, we would encourage you to take it.
My daughter and I loved looking after Bunty and Sonny. They are super friendly Kitties and we all very quickly became firm friends. They’re indoor/outdoor Kitties eating mainly dry food and take no meds so this makes looking after them very straightforward. They do love going out, but as it was raining quite a bit we got a lot of couch-time with them and they do like to play a bit too. The house itself we really liked. Nice spacious lounge and bedrooms and a really well-equipped and easy to navigate kitchen. The Wi-Fi signal was very strong. This is a great sit for working from home if you need to do that. The garden is also a lovely place to hang-out. The location on the hills above Stroud has wonderful views which you will enjoy. There are some lovely walks directly outside the front door. You’re also very close to any shop you may need; Sainsbury’s and Aldi are just a few minutes’ drive away. Lesley and Mike were very good at communicating with me before and during the sit. We mainly used WhatsApp. So an highly recommended sit which I’d love to do again.
House and family: so nice, thoughtful and welcoming! It was a comfortable stay and they left out sheets and towels and gave very clear instructions. Very communicative and had a great rapport with them! Barney: such a cute boy. He just wanted to cuddle and hang out; he skips when he walks; he’s happy all the time. So sweet and a joy to watch!
Eirini is such a friendly person; when I applied for the sit and we switched to WA we just couldn’t stop talking… starting from the kitties and responsibilities to the tradition, history and mentality 😂 Eirini had so much understanding for my flight dates and since I couldn’t be there from the very beginning and meet her in person, her friend Rahul stepped in and he showed me the area. Nala is a cute grumpy lady cat. She naps 80% of the time, she’s super pretty and Arch is such a hyperactive sweetheart! He’s a typical cat; wants bunch of attention and treats. I wish they were lap cats 😭 I enjoyed every second spent with them! Can’t wait to meet them again 💕 Eirini has very modern apartment and she had literally everything I needed during my stay. Thank you Eirini for trusting me with the golden duo ⭐️
Consider yourself beyond lucky if you receive an invitation to care for a most unique and affectionate cat, in a beautiful city, with the most welcoming hosts one could ask for. Pato (translation - duck) is easy to care for and rewards you with frequent purring and requests to be stroked. As a rescue cat with only three legs, he's learned to endear himself to any human. None of the stereotypical, "I could care less about you" cat behavior, Pato rewards his caretakers with adoring greetings and with various appreciative behaviors. He is the most "cool cat". His owners are pretty cool as well. Ross and Glen provided us with a terrific home cooked meal upon our arrival and clearly outlined what we needed to do to care for Pato. Their most detailed welcoming guide provides you with clear instructions on operating appliances, emergency contacts for you and for Pato, favored restaurants and sites to visit during your stay in San Miguel. Ross and Glen are engaging conversationalists and the most generous of hosts. Our ongoing conversations with them let us know that they were interested in our well being and having a pleasurable experience, as well as our care of Pato and their home. San Miguel de Allende! I need not elaborate on it being a desirable place to visit. The people, the food, the climate, the history and the setting are exceptional. Just ask anyone you know who has traveled here. In summary, grab the opportunity if you are lucky enough to receive an invitation to care for Pato. This is a five star + experience that you will not regret.
