What do you do as a Trustedhousesitter when you want your pet owners to stay on the road because their home and pets are so wonderful? While at the same time, you’d like them to come home because they are those people you just met who you feel like you’ve known your whole life. It’s really the best of everything! I wanted “life on the ranch” and I certainly got it! Driving along the road, getting close, I came to a beautifully fenced pasture with five horses grazing there. That was my turn off and just a little further on my eyes opened wide on a colorful sprawling ranch with a porch and rockers inviting me to stay. Neighboring pastures completed the breathtaking landscape. Early morning and evening walks with Gussie boy and Ellie Mae were a highlight of the day. We almost always met up with one or more of their dog friends, no leashes required, or the neighbor riding her horse. And we had to said hello to the cows along the way! Canton, TX is a vibrant small town. Abby and Berkley and all the girls at Latham Bakery are so friendly and make the best iced decaf mocha! Delicious baked goods and food too. The librarian recommended a new mystery writer to me and I read every book they had in the series. Summer Smith at Yamayoga is a gifted yoga instructor who radiates “warm and friendly”. Leah at Bella Salon and I talked for three hours while getting highlights! The town is famous for “First Monday”, the biggest flea market around, and what an experience - people, food, shopping! David, my pet owner, is chef/owner of Gumbeaux Cajun Cafe at the market where he makes cajun Pontchartrain sauce you can eat with a spoon and caramel bread pudding of which you’ll want to lick the plate when you’re done. Sally gave me a glimpse into the life of a very active entrepreneur/artist. (I knew there was something very special about your voice when you sang Happy Birthday!) And now to the king and queen or cowboy and cowgirl of the ranch! We waved good-by to the travelers and I settled into their routine immediately. Lots of time is spent sitting on the porch, some of which just waiting for the sun to get really, really hot and then they go lay in the grass, yikes! Gus loves to sit in the water in the pink pool for a cool down! Or they dig a hole a little deeper in the yard to get to some cool dirt. Gus loves to be brushed! He rolls over and looks at you with those big brown eyes so you make sure to do his belly! Ellie Mae does everything she can to speak to you! She keeps those beautiful blue eyes on you until you do as requested which means - let me in or out, I want a treat, please rub me or hold my paw. And of course make room for her on the bed at night! One of the most touching moments was on our walks - when each of us stops, looks back and waits for the others to catch up. And such a beautiful sight to see them running through the grass in the pasture! My time on the ranch was uniquely remarkable! Some of the family lives a few steps away on the property and I was welcomed with open arms by all. Sally’s mom and I laughed our way through two seasons of Schitt’s Creek and some British comedies. David’s dad and his wife Donna and I could spend hours in conversation. I loved hearing stories of their amazing life. Cousin Don taught me all about growing vegetables and spent time just “shooting the breeze” in the warehouse. I also had some wonderful surprises. A colt was born - Anna who has very long legs at 48 hours old! A kitten showed up on our doorstep and Donna said of course we will keep him and I was the one who got to take care of him! Feeling the strength of those beautiful horses while I visited them in the pasture. Watching the spectacular fireworks over Canton on the Fourth of July! Soooo…Sally and David - I am ever so grateful for all the time I got to spend with your truly exceptional family - pets and humans - in the great state of Texas - the land of the free and the home of the brave! Thank you for being so welcoming and kind to me. And for the lively conversations throughout my stay. What a life you lead! I have a heart full of thanks to you for sharing your home and for the most amazingly wonderful time pet-sitting sweet Ellie Mae and my boy Gussie! They have a special place in my heart!
Was a lovely week at Jason and Jess’s house. We didn’t meet them but it was all easy. Dogs were sweet and have infectious enthusiasm when seeing you in the mornings. Great with kids. We kept milly on the lead as recommended. Morty has great recall and loves to play fetch. We love the area especially the walks along the river. Lovely converted old pub - spent most of our time in their cosy kitchen. Great London house/dog sit
This was such a lovely housesit! Dyan was incredibly welcoming and kind upon our arrival, as well as gracious in allowing us to arrive two days early. Dyan offered us use of her car for ease of transportation during our stay and made us feel right at home in her warm, beautiful space, which was in a perfect location for moving about the city. Joey and Molly were a dream to care for. They were both very sweet and easy to love. Molly is a cuddle bug, always tucked under you, and Joey, though more independent, was so much fun to watch run around the backyard and relax on the couch with, when he graced us with his calm presence. We would sit for Dyan and these gorgeous pups again in a heartbeat, given the opportunity! We wish them all nothing but the best!
It was a real pleasure to meet Karin and her wonderful children, and so fun to spend a few days with their lovely pets, three mischievous kitties and the big, beautiful, and loving Bernese Mountain Dog Cocoa. Karin gave me a warm welcome and showed me around, she lives in a very friendly community that has everything you need. I especially loved the sunny and spacious gym. The animals were great. Cocoa the dog is a very happy and playful girl, who loves pets and starts wagging her tail every time you look at her. All four of them were fun and easy to take care of. I really enjoyed my time at Karin’s place in Burbank and highly recommend this sit!
We had a lovely time caring for Piggy! Even though it was a short sit, we really fell in love with her and enjoyed some lovely walks together. At home she loves nothing more than snuggling up for a cuddle and a belly rub - she is so full of love and super easy to care for. Anna’s home is beautiful, situated on a quiet road in Liss, and Anna was a wonderful host who made sure we had everything we could possibly need for our stay. So glad we could come and meet you both, hopefully we’ll see you again in the future!
This was a 5 star sit all around. Randi, Jose, and Olive are so gracious, friendly, warm, and welcoming. Randi was great at communicating and responded promptly to my texts. They have a beautiful home, gorgeous pool, magnificent views, and several outdoor sitting areas to enjoy. And the best part was Churro!!! I can't say enough good things about Churro. Very loving, sweet, and cuddly. Super easy to care for. She loves to swim and play and is very well behaved. I say she is a very special dog! I would be delighted to sit here again and again!!! Thank you Randi.
