Sue was easy to communicate with and very friendly and hospitable. Karisma is such an easy little one to watch and just wants to cuddle at night and sun herself in the day. Karisma and I spent most of our time doing homework on the balcony in the sun looking out at the ocean, the view from the balcony is gorgeous! Karisma took about half a day to really warm up to me but once she did she's so sweet. She doesn't like things going over her head or being reached over so pets have to come from down low, butt scratchies are her fav lol. Summerland is such a cut little town and Tinker Burger is an absolute must try! There's a great trail at the top of the hill and the beach is only a 10 min walk away. Highly recommend Sue's place, I had everything I need for a great stay (:
I had a wonderful time sitting for Javier and Patricia in their lovely apartment. Bali and Micro are adorable dogs and well-behaved. Micro has a congenital neurological condition but is easy to care for; he needs time and patience but is a real little character. Bali, his sister, adores a cuddle, and they love being together. I was familiar with the area from a previous sit, and Peter Cooper village is very safe and well-lit with all the amenities you need nearby. Javier maintained good contact with me before and during the sit, and everything was well prepared for my stay. I'd happily look after Bali and Micro again. Thank you for the opportunity.
Fiona and William were so welcoming, I felt at home at once. Tony and Arnold were lovely. Staying on a farm with sheep green meadows and woods were perfect for a stay looking after the pets.
I always write my reviews in order of People, house, pets, locations. It enables me to methodically feedback the sit. The most important question is, would you sit here again and the answer is yes! Maria and Tony - The advertisement, is very accurate. Initial communication with them was excellent. The sit was last minute as sadly the sitter was taken ill, so we were all working last minute. That said our video chat was easy and at the end of it the sit, we agreed for me to do it. On arrival, they were very welcoming and we had about 5 hours to discuss relevant needs etc. I was shown how to medicate Zebedee. During the sit, we communicated easily and there were no issues, it was fun. On return, they were exhausted, but we sill had tea and a chat. They are very welcoming, kind and considerate people. The house, wow, such a nice house, which has been decorated well. There are modern facilities (no dishwasher) but I had no issues with finding and using everything. Outside is peaceful and enjoy sitting out (other then when it rained) The bed was very comfortable. Pets - Jeff is a very charming dog, but does want to be with you all the time. He is a very happy boy and gets on well with Zebedee. He is easy to walk, though can pull and likes being with other dogs. Zebedee - Needs medication, which is relatively easy to administer, but he can struggle a little bit, so has to be done confidently (I did it, so you can). That said, he is such a lovely cat, really liked him. Sparkles - Again a beautiful cat and very loving, just a bit nervous. He will come to you for strokes, but can be a bit jumpy, but would get into the English 'purring' team. Toffee - Again beautiful, very friendly and I was always happy when he wanted strokes. Feeding them is easy, as is the litter tray. There are outside fish and wild birds to feed, but that is all easy. Venue - What can I say, just one of the most beautiful places in the world. You are five minutes walk to Bowness centre, with so many excellent places to eat and drink. The walks are plentiful and I made the decision to do so without driving. You can also get buses, to venues. The ferry was a great choice, cheap and got you away from the crowds (mostly) This is an excellent sit on so many fronts, but you will be very lucky to get selected, as it will already have a large repeat base of sitters. If it comes up and you like to walk with a dog, this is a must. Thank you to owners and pets!
Harley is a sweetheart! He is a joy to spend time with, and in true feline fashion he slowly got to know us (and vice versa). Harley loves to take naps, sit in the sun, smell flowers. Once he gets to know you he will so sweetly come to greet you in the morning! He loves to play with his toy(s) with you at night (normally after dinner). Truly a delightful and very special cat. Tine’s apartment is beautiful, and the location is perfect for Avignon adventures. We had a super relaxing and fun weekend with Monsieur Harley, and Tine and her neighbours are wonderful! Highly recommend.
Niloufar is the cutest cat!! Very playful and friendly (she’s also a princess who will require being petted) Kathryn has been so welcoming and answered all the questions I had and her appartement is clean and cozy, it was overall an amazing week-end!!

Jenn and her entire team have been wonderful with our dog. They walk him every day during the week when we are at work and he goes on "adventures" on Thursdays. The adventures often consist of hikes, trips to local parks, and over the Summer lots of swimming. We also use DC Dog Sitter for sitting when we go away. Our dog has some special needs, but DC Dog sitter has been exceptionally accommodating and understanding. They are extremely reliable and I love getting numerous messages/pictures throughout the day on what he is up to. All of the dog walkers have been great and we have not had any issues. Jenn is great about communicating with us and is so knowledgeable about dog health and diet. She has been a great resource for us and has always gone above-and-beyond to answer any of our questions. I know my dog is safe and happy when he is in the care of DC Dog Sitter. I cannot give them higher praise.
I’ve been using DC Dog Sitter since I got my puppy and I can’t say enough good things about their services! This company is filled with super, super nice and skilled people top to bottom. I feel really comfortable leaving my dog and apartment with the sitters, and have been pleasantly surprised to find out that all of the sitters are super, not just one or two (what I expected initially). They're really good with dogs, and professional and friendly with humans too. They bend over backwards to make sure you and your dog are really well cared for, and I have so appreciated that. I met Jenn by chance in the lobby of my apartment building 1 week before we picked up our Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppy, Loki. I was impressed by the quality of her marketing materials and website. That was simply a preview to the level of care we would experience. DC Dog Sitter is such a great small business! When we adopted our small terrier mix dog a year ago, she was nervous around new people and new dogs. The team at DCDS met her where she was at - taking the time to slowly introduce her to her walker and to other pups. Since lockdown, we’ve been sending our dog on Adventures with DCDS, and it’s been by far the best thing that happened to her. She has blossomed. She cannot wait every week for the DCDS team to pick her up and whisk her away for a few hours of awesome adventure. The staff are responsive - weekends, late nights, whenever we have a question or need to reschedule. DCDS has helped bring our dog out of her shell! Thank you to the DCDS team!
Jenn has taken care of my rambunctious lab for the past two years and I could not be happier with the care and attention my dog receives every time she is cared for by DC Dog Sitter. I was initially very nervous to leave my dog with someone when I leave town for work, but Jenn and the DC Dog Sitter team have exceeded all my expectations. I receive multiple pictures and updates daily of my dog's adventures and activities. Jenn has even picked up and dropped off my dog at my apartment, which has been really helpful. When I pick my dog up, she has usually been bathed, which is an incredible feat because my dog hates baths. She also always comes home with little treats and toys. I know that Jenn cares for my dog as she would her own dog and I could not recommend her and DC Dog Sitter highly enough!
These folks are simply the best. We have a cat with critical daily medication needs. When we go out of town I always feel secure and trust that She's being well taken care of with anyone from DC Dog sitter. It's clear they truly love animals. They are over communicators on the portal so we know exactly how our girl is doing, her meds, etc. recommend to everyone!

Incredibly frustrated in the service from Dogtopia. My dog was injured during play while being boarded and were received absolutely no communication regarding the incident. His nail was almost ripped completely from the nail bed, leaving a bloody, open wound. It wasn’t until a friend picked him up while I was still away was the injury mentioned in passing. As soon as the friend told us about it, we asked for pictures to consult a vet. The vet immediately responded saying there was high risk of infection, it would get worse with continued open play and he was likely in a lot of pain. I feel absolutely awful my dog sat at Dogtopia for days in pain. Had they been paying attention and had policies to notify owners immediately of injury, the injury would almost certainty not gotten so bad. But days instead of hours later, he spending the entire morning at the vet under sedation to treat the wound. I get things happen at daycare, injuries aren’t unavoidable, but it’s the lack of communication and concern by Dogtopia that is infuriating. Who sees a dog with a torn off bloody nail and does nothing? They knew his owners were not the ones picking him up. We were still never directly contacted.
An absolutely disgusting place. It smelled horrible. I couldn’t even stay in there for five minutes. The lady said that that is what they cleaned with and it’s dog drool and pee, but let me tell you my dog does not smell like that at all. Not even PetSmart smells as disgusting as this place. Therefore, I decided not to board him there. Additionally, I went for a meet and greet and they had somebody new who really didn’t know the rules. Nevertheless, I decided I didn’t want to be there anyways because of the horrible smell. I wouldn’t go so far as to say she was rude, but she definitely didn’t seem to care about helping me or answering any of my questions. She is the front desk person so if she is a representative of the rest of the staff, I definitely would not be wanting to go there
I really appreciate that the Dogtopia team really gets to know your dogs and really work with them where they're at. I've already noticed such positive changes in my pups' behavior, and this is their first time in a daycare setting, going on two weeks! (Also please enjoy these CUTE photos from daycare)
We've been coming to Dogtopia for daycare for about two months and are now bringing our second dog. Our dogs come home happy and tired each time and the staff is amazing! They know our dog's names on sight and genuinely enjoy interacting with them.

We used them a few times for grooming and play when our big guy was a puppy. They’re great and have a very central location. He can’t go anymore because he is unaltered and over 1 yr. Be aware!
We were in the city for just a few days but wanted to be able to go sightseeing where our dog was not necessarily welcome. Dogtopia to the rescue. It was so awesome to know our baby was getting her own mental and physical stimulation while we were out and about. The doggie cams gave us peace of mind and entertained us when we took a break from sightseeing. Every coach at dogtopia was so friendly and clearly loved working with their furry clients. Almost forgot the complimentary dog bath! Though usually offered for a fee, they provided it for free due to some issue with the floors - I really appreciated the business handling it without me even asking. Note- dogs go through an assessment before being accepted which gave us great confidence that they were careful in taking and placing the dogs together.
This location of Dogtopia is just wonderful. I love love love the staff here. They love my pup just as much as I do! They gave my pup a cute little nickname WigglyButt!! We have used their daycare, boarding, and grooming services. All of their services are top notch. Thanks for always taking such great care of my pup.
Dogtopia of Downtown DC is simply the best dog daycare! Everyone is so kind and attentive, and they create a fun, safe environment for all the dogs. My dog LOVES his Dogtopia humans and dog friends and is so excited every time he goes! In fact, he gets sulky if we go too many days without a trip to Dogtopia!
