This is a fabulous place to dogsit and we would recommend.Caroline was most thoughtful and welcoming and the 2 dogs were a delight, affectionate and enthusiastic. We were very comfortable and had the bonus of some fabulous weather enhancing the already fabulous view and local walks. Most enjoyable.
It was such a pleasure to look after Lucky & Giorgio. They were both very friendly dogs, who loved to snuggle. James left a note with thorough instructions which made it very easy to make sure they were well taken care of. The home itself was also lovely, and we were able to stay in a separate part of the house which is normally used for Airbnb. Everything was clean & tidy, and we felt very welcomed in the home. The location of the flat was also very nice, as it was only a short walk from the beach and local shops / restaurants.
North Thoresby and all its inhabitants stole our hearts! John and Peter were so welcoming, making us dinner and walking us through the house and pets on our first night. They were always available to answer any questions and made such an effort to make us feel at home during our time here. The pets were wonderful, each with their own unique personality. Basil is the energetic puppy that is always by your side and constantly wants to play, while Heathcliff has a quiet look that makes you want to cuddle him forever. Ollie is self-sufficient but very affectionate when given the chance, Lulu is so open and always looking for a pet or nap. Sinjon thinks he’s a dog and will walk around the house constantly, looking out windows and patrolling the area. Freya won our hearts with her quiet demeanor and sweet disposition. The morning routine is pretty straight forward and took us 1 hour or so to feed everyone, manage the hot tub, feed the fish/birds, clean out the ottlitter, etc. We found it’s easier to walk Heathcliff and Basil separately as they both have different preferences on speed/distance, and then rest of the day is your own until feeding time at the end. Grooming was a little more difficult than I imagined, however, I had little experience with long haired cats before starting this housesit . I quickly got the hang of it and really enjoyed my time with the pets during grooming for the remainder of the stay. Peter and John laid everything out so well, providing a detailed calendar on what needs to be done when, leaving instruction manuals for all house appliances, and gave us loads of local recommendations- even texting us ideas throughout their trip. It was truly the most rewarding experience and I can’t wait to return. I would recommend this sit to anyone who enjoys a house full of loving animals.
Where do I begin? Let's start with Meg's flawless organization; from the pre-packaged food to everything being labeled with instructions, she really made it an easy experience! Linda is the cutest bunny who is perfectly trained, and Ted is a big cuddle bug who loves learning from/copying Linda, it's the cutest thing! Meg's apartment was equipped with everything one could need, the whole apartment is connected to Alexa, and there are 2 huge smart tvs. The bed is super comfy and so are the couch and beanbag. It's a great location with tons of restaurants and subway access. The building is nice and quiet and the Internet fast for working remote! Truly loved watching after these bunnies and appreciated regular communication with Meg. I would definitely stay here again and recommend to friends.
Jacobi was really great to work with - he had excellent communication and provided easy to follow instructions on house and pet care. Saint was a dream to spend time with - even though we had a short stay, we enjoyed numerous walks, lots of belly rubs, and even had a blissful nap together on Jacobi's very comfortable couch. :) Jacobi's centrally located loft in Portland's Pearl district is a special treat, with a beautiful exposed brick interior and a great rooftop view at night. This is a stellar sit - don't miss the opportunity next time it comes around!
We loved our time here spent with the kitties. They are very easy to care for, and the home is beautiful. We felt rejuvenated with our time spent under the trees.
