We enjoyed having Renata house sit and take care of our girls. not only do we have two labs that need constant human companionship, our house landscaping needs just as much attention due to watering requirements! While we were on vacation, Renata kept us updated regularly on the girls with cute videos and pictures. Upon our return we found the dogs happy and calm as well as our house clean and the grounds looking well cared for. Renata even surprised us with homemade jam made from our plum tree !! If our schedules work out we would definitely invite Renata to House/Dog sit for us again… This is the first time that we have had zeewoi support our travel plans, Renata made a very positive experience !!
Ken & Órla were generous, hospitable hosts & made us feel very welcome in their home. The dogs were well behaved & very affectionate. The cats were vocal and let us know what they needed & all four “furries” got on well together. Ken communicated expectations & instructions clearly & we really enjoyed being near places of interest, beauty and Greenways for cycling around Cork as well as relaxing under the stars in the jacuzzi in the garden of an evening.
I really enjoyed my sitting with Papoochie. She is adorable, charming and gorgeous cat. It is very easy to look after her. Papoochie is independent 20 years old cat. She likes spending most of the time outside –on terrace or in the forest. Cat also likes when you play with her or brush her fur. Donna's apartment is spacious, lovely and comfortable with big balcony where you can enjoy amazing view of the forest. There is public swimming pool near the house where you can spend time during hot weather. It is very easily to access Zurich's city center by tram (10-15 min) or by foot (25 min). Zürich is a great city for sightseeing. Donna is warm-hearted, generous, open-minded and intelligent person. She gave me clear instruction about the house and Papoochie. Donna showed me the city, explained transportation system and recommended picturesque places to visit around Zurich. Donna is very hospitable woman. She picked me up at the bus station (when I arrived) and organized welcoming dinner. Donna is a stunning cook. She prepares delicious dishes for you. Donna was very kind allowing me to stay in her apartment a few days more after date to fill the gap before my next pet sitting. It was a pleasure to spend time with her and Papoochie. I highly recommend this cat and house sitting.
This was a wonderful sit from start to finish! Teresa and Ron were warm, welcoming, super sweet, and very responsive! They had every detail thought out well, and their home is set up for sitters! We felt so comfortable in their safe, quiet, and super clean home!! Nubbins and Benny stole our hearts quickly! They love to play, snuggle, and they need their walks! We walked them daily, but it is Phoenix’s hot season, so we chose mornings! They were great on their walks, and slept with us! They are super adorable! Very cute! They love to be around those caring for them! This was a fantastic sit, and we highly recommend Teresa, Ron, Nubbins, and Benny! We definitely look forward to more sits with this fun crew!
A’magine was friendly, generous, and communicative over text and in-person. Her house is so warm and cozy - exactly how I’d like to decorate my own place someday, with tons of excellent books to boot. Her cats, Nova and Boogie, were a pleasure to watch and take care of. Nova is quite independent and is content to spend most of her time outside, but was very vocal and affectionate - if a bit shy at first - when around me. Boogie was even more independent, though would stay inside mostly, but I had no issues with him, and he’s a very cute cat for sure. had a great week here with both of them. Beautiful location, would highly recommend to other potential sitters
A charming home and sweet cats! I sat with Daisy reading while basking in the sun and watching the birds and squirrels. Dora was a bit more shy but warmed up and loved getting pets while lounging in her chair. Would definitely sit again!
Mel & Theo's Review Mel & Theo are kind, generous, and thoughtful. I can see why they're Airbnb Super Hosts and I'd be happy to rent an airbnb out from them. They genuinely wanna make your stay as comfortable as possible and are extremely accommodating. But I do have some important info to divulge that wasn't communicated to me and some safety tips! Please read my full review to ensure future sitters have the best experience and read my tips below! I believe this sit is best for local, introverted, night owls! TLDR Skip to Summary at the Bottom ⬇️ PETS Buddha and Teddy are sweet, patient, and docile dogs. They spend most of their day lounging. Mishu's a strong boundary enforcing cat who doesn't forget but can forgive. I don't recommend this sit for people who aren't experience with cats, but I have tips below! BUDDHA Buddha's a bit blind, but he moves slowly and confidently. 😁 When walking them, I walk on the edge of the street to make sure Buddha continues to walk straight. TEDDY Teddy uses the teal leash and gets a bit startled by it. So be gentle with him. I like to snuggle him a bit before putting it on him. MISHU Mishu and I had a rocky start, but we're friends now and you can do things differently. Mishu does best with at least 3 ft of distance until she warms up to you, but this isn't always feasible. Take treats with you everywhere you go! Seriously, especially the bathroom cuz if she's sitting on the hamper, you'll have to wait a long time or risk her scratching you. Her nails are sharp! Tips below ⬇️ Keep things away from her designated areas and keep things in the "Safe Zones" until she's comfortable with you. Her designated areas are the edges of the bed (both bottom and top parts), on top of the dresser, the hamper next to the bathroom, the top of the couch closest to the kitchen, and her room where she eats. Safe Zones: The kitchen table, the kitchen counters Don't charge your phone in the extension cord under the couch! Charge it in the kitchen. Take your clothes from the dresser out the night before and keep it under the bed with you, so if she's on top of the dresser and you have somewhere to be, you can easily access your stuff. I recommend not petting her even if encouraged during your first meet. When Theo asked me if I wanted to pet Mishu, I moved slowly cuz I wanna give cats a chance to express their boundaries. Mishu let me pet her for a few seconds before hissing at me and I moved away quickly. Theo said she does that. Not sure why I encouraged to pet her then? When you know she has a history of doing this? Please respect her boundaries. I was told to "Give her treats if she's good. Don't give her treats if she's not." I was also told that if I want her to move, I can spray her with water. I expressed my discomfort against spraying her, which Mel respected, but the option exists. I don't recommend it! Mishu got hostile after that! I thought they didn't want me to use treats as bribery based on how things were communicated, which I think is a reasonable assumption, but they're really accommodating. Some cats get aggressive to try and get more treats, so you just never know. I encourage giving Mishu treats instead of spraying her! But she's not easily manipulated. When Mishu wants to be let out and she's not comfortable with you, she might hiss and try to scratch you as you approach her 3 ft bubble, which is necessary. When I brought this up, I was told she does this. Why wasn't I warned??? I sprayed her to get my sweater she was sitting on and she scratched me. I have a lot of experience with aggressive cats and I've never been scratched so hard, but for safety measures, I have a thick PJ set, which is why I didn't get hurt. Here's the one I have: Normally cats move away, meow, or hiss before letting anyone touch them but every feline is diff. Even without the same experiences, I suspect that in the beginning she might hiss at you if you get near her. Mel did say she does this to them, too, which makes me wonder why I wasn't warned about it... RESPONSIBILITIES I wake up at 7 am to let the dogs out. 8 am - boil sweet potatoes (or I do this after their dinner) 9 am - breakfast for everyone 5 pm - dinner 6 pm - walk 8 pm - 11 pm - feed Mishu Every 2 hrs, let the dogs out to do their business. Buddha requires meds every few days (dosage varies) and Teddy requires meds 2x/day with meal. Mel created a calendar for me! NOTE: Buddha & Teddy have designated poop areas. But they tend to hold going to the bathroom for as long as they can. Buddha tends to do his last poop around 11:30 ish pm. They're a bit lazy, so you gotta gently motivate them to get up. I find that fussing in the kitchen stirs their curiosity. Once they're up, you can lead them outside. If they don't go enough during the day, it's easy to recognize that they'll need to go in the middle of the night. If this happens, you can leave potty pads out, but this is why I don't recommend this sit for heavy sleepers, anyone who needs adequate rest, and/or people with sensory overload. I misunderstood them and thought they slept in the living room, instead of the bedroom. So I couldn't hear them when they needed to go. I was told they'll pace but also Teddy doesn't really do that and they don't pace much anymore... In my experience, they didn't pace at all. I recommend using a lot of potty pads cuz they kept missing them. MY EXPERIENCE WITH CATS I have a lot of experience with aggressive and territorial cats. Sometimes cats are blind or older with slow reflexes, so I always go slow. Some cats don't react well to moody people. I have a steady mood and have had great experiences. During my sit in Altadena, Wendy's husband, John, gave me the title "Cat Whisperer!" I hope that every other sitter have a completely diff experience and I believe you can! But because I have a lot of experience, I do recommend experienced cat sitters. But I swear she's a distant, intelligent, and kind cat! I have fuzzy PJ's that are thick to protect me from cat scratches. I'm really strategic! But early on, some details were left out and things were communicated upfront. They're new sitters and great people, so it could've been an oversight, but I believe these are important for pet sitters to know. 1) They didn't list on their profile that they want a sitter who won't be away for more than 1 - 2 hrs, which is a huge ask. I believe this should be mentioned upfront, which is why I'm sharing this info. I wasn't told until halfway into the pet interview... But it's still a great sit! 2) I was told feeding them would be really easy cuz they have pre-made food. There was an emphasis on easy and wanting to make it as easy for me as possible, including the medication. I thought it was really sweet, but now sadly I wonder if they were trying to overcompensate or convince me... During the walk thru, I was told I have to boil sweet potatoes! They omitted the frozen blueberries, which would've needed to thaw. Honestly not a big deal but needing to boil and cool sweet potatoes is an extra 30+ min. Not the same thing as popping food out! Maybe it was a new add on, but there's a pattern of neglecting to share info. 3) The day of the sit I was told that the dogs were doing better, so hopefully I wouldn't have to wake up in the middle of the night to take them outside. They told me this 30 min before their scheduled departure! 🤯 4) Their cat, Mishu, hisses and scratched me and was temperamental. They apologized and said she does that with us, too, but I was given no warning. Maybe they were just referring to the hissing? But they didn't seem surprised and genuinely apologetic. Please don't let this deter you! Read tips to bond with Mishu to prevent these experiences! Tip: If you avoid the spray bottle, you can probably have a diff experience. But she likes her 3 ft of space, which is impossible to accommodate and it meant I got scratched! 5) During their vacation, Mel & Theo were excellent communicators! They were really supportive. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out! I misunderstood and thought the door was meant to be secured open with the dogs sleeping in the living room when they're supposed to be in the bedroom. When I asked if they'd be comfortable with them being in the bedroom, Mel encouraged whatever I felt was best, instead of enforcing their standard. This is why I couldn't hear the dogs when they needed to use the bathroom in the middle of the night. 6) After trial and error, I discovered that Buddha goes to the bathroom at around 11:30 ish pm. Theo said this is normal. I feel like this is important information to share upfront that the last poop will be close to midnight... TIPS 1) The first couple nights was a learning curve in gauging their bathroom breaks. They don't always pace and will hold it in. Sometimes they went as I was walking them outside. If they haven't gone enough, I recommend lining the entire floor cuz Buddha walks and poops, leaving a trail even outside. It'll save cleaning time! 2) Buddha and Teddy look similar and because they take medication, make sure you know who's who. I have a lot of experience and am super hypervigilante and meticulous. But I do recommend sitters take extra note and photos with distinctions also be provided. I share all of this for everyone's benefit! This sit is amazing for local, introverted, night owls! Binge your favorite shows and curl up with the dogs on the couch. Even Mishu will join you! I believe that a 1 week - 1 month is a sweet spot for this sit cuz it takes a couple days to figure them out. But if Mel and Theo go on a weekend getaway, I encourage you to do this sit! I just recommend potty pads and maybe you won't even need them. And keep your stuff from Mishu's zones! TLDR -Only 1 - 2 hrs unsupervised (must be home most of the time) -Dogs (Buddha & Teddy) are sweet -Encourage them to poop -Buddha's last poop is 11:30 ish pm -Take them outside every couple hrs -Try to stay 3 ft away from Mishu (the cat) -charge your phone in the kitchen away from Mishu's personal space -read Mishu's areas -best for experienced cat sitters & night owls -not recommended for heavy sleepers, people who need adequate rest, or sensory overload -might need to wake up in the middle of the night to poop -dream job for local introverted night owls! -Mel & Theo are generous, thoughtful, & accommodating Mel & Theo will make sure your stay is worthwhile and Buddha and Teddy are so sweet!
