I had a wonderful time caring for Floyd, Mona Lisa, Georgie and Noir. Very loving, affectionate and humorous French Bulldogs! Julie and Christian are very kind, welcoming and hospitable, allowing me to stay a few days after the Housesit dates, showing me around the area and providing local insights and connections for my continued journey through Germany. Greatly appreciated!

I loved taking the dogs up into the woods behind their property. We followed an old logging road that wound through beautiful trees, old rock walls, and passing by some pretty impressive cliffs. The dogs loved it too, racing around and finding lots of animal signs. I just had to keep a close eye on Tessa, who liked to go off out of sight sometimes. But she always came back when I called, eventually.

I loved the goats and bunnies. They were always so happy to see me and the dogs and they were pretty easy to care for.

Overall, this stay was more work than we all anticipated. The puppy was no longer crate trained for overnights (he broke out). The chickens would sometimes escape, and two were killed. The puppy needed to be in the same room as me overnight, or his behavior would get the other dogs riled up and loud.

It was still cold weather when I was there, especially some of the nights. They don't use their oil furnace for heating, in favor of space heaters and a nice heating fireplace. I'm all in favor of using renewable wood for heat, but it was another chore to do and the temperature wasn't as steady overnight as with central heating.

Karynn and Brian were really great about getting back to me when I had questions. If you don't mind a lot of chores and prefer to have the dogs in with you at night, this would be a great opportunity. In warmer weather the hot tub would be set up. It's on a deck overlooking their pond. Deluxe! They offered to get it going for me, but I declined to save energy.🙂

This has been one of my favourite housesits so far! I felt so relaxed and at ease with Elke from the moment I spoke to her on the phone and meeting her in person just confirmed how very generous and kind she is. Elke has lovely taste and her home, although a work in progress, is a beautiful, restful place to stay! Lovely and light throughout! I have not slept so well since moving to London! It is SO quiet there and the bed in the spare room is very comfortable. Lola is low-maintenance and a delight when you do see her and she is not on an outdoor mission to guard the house!

Dan and Ella are such a fun nice couple and the communication with them was great. They offered to have dinner ready for us on our arrival and Dan picked us up from the rail station which was appreciated. We got to enjoy some good conversation the evening before they left with plenty of good laughter and found that we had several common ground hobbies.

Dexter is such a gentle soul. He will be your shadow and entice you to want to play with him all the time with his loving gentleness. He is very fortunate to have a fantastic extremely large park and recreation area within 300 yards of the house. He is great with adults and kids which is ideal because people constantly flock to him and want to pet his beautiful soft coat. He is non reactive to other dogs and will gladly play with them when off leash. On the lead he tends to be a tad submissive at times but that is not a bad thing - he's just that gentle in nature. He draws you in with how much he just wants to please you.

Even though we pretty much hung out with Dexter the entire time because he was so much fun, the house is well located and within an hour of Stonehenge, Bath and almost anywhere you'd want to go in the Cotswolds. We would definitely return again !

Prudence and Plum are such adorable delights! Very different characters – Pru is a calm mannered princess, while Plum will play all day if possible.

I had a call with David and Kirsty beforehand, both of us being transparent and understanding that we were chatting with other sitters/families. We confirmed the sit late that evening, then connected again the week of our meeting.

They offered I stay the day before travel, for easier acclimation, and kindly picked me up from the station upon arrival.

David and Kirsty were welcoming, thorough in explanation of home, neighborhood, and animal care, while staying in contact throughout their trip. If an issue ever arose, which I don’t recall any, I was equipped with a family and business contact to remedy anything. It was like a community was around in case additional support was necessary, but never felt encroached upon.

Plus the house is equipped with all you need – a fitness space with sauna to maintain workout schedule, several trails for walks, outdoor space to relax or soak up the sun, easy access to groceries, restaurants, and miscellaneous shops, as well as the train station and buses for day trips.

I absolutely recommend sitting Prudence and Plum for David and Kirsty! Besides leaving the doggies, the hardest part was them not being permitted upstairs to the bedrooms; so hung with them downstairs as much as possible.
