We had an amazing sit at Ruth and John's house in Bray. Both Ruth and John were incredibly warm and welcoming and made us feel at home as soon as we arrived. The property is set in a beautful location, very peaceful and surrounded by nature. I can't find enough words to say how amazing and awesome all the dogs are - Maisie, Gandalf and Penny really made this sit for us, they were an absolute pleasure to be around and so easy to look after. There are plenty of walks around the area or nearby in the car and all the dogs were absolutely fine off the lead once we'd build a rapport with them. These dogs are the very reason we do THS, we're really going to miss them and their loveable characters.
Bernard is a very good and welcoming host. He provided stuff I did not even expect him to: like food and beverages including nice coffee. He was always available via text. Bernard left clear instructions on how to care for his dog and showed where all the necessary things were. He was honest about neighborhood as I read different things and being not native to Boston or Massachusetts did not know what to expect. I felt safe and walked the dog in the morning and in the evening and it was nice. He has the most adorable god!
I have been house sitting for almost thirty years, and this house sit in Stenness, Orkney was definitely the most memorable experience I have ever had. While I unfortunately never did get to meet Heather in person, I did meet her though zoom. What an absolutely lovely human being she is...kind and generous and thoughtful. Her sweet cousin picked me up from the airport, even if the plane was delayed by two hours, and took me to Heather's gorgeous home on the loch. I never ever tired of the stunning beauty of this home and it's surroundings, as well as the sheep grazing right outside. Her place was consistently warm and cozy, even when it was quite chilly outside. The ambiance of her home was very inspiring, so much so that I began writing my next book there. Her cat was not at home during this sit, but I got to feed the lovely birds who came to feed daily, and I got to water her plants that thrived in the solar room Heather has created. Thank you Heather for this unforgettable stay in your stunning, serene, and welcoming home.
Sitting for Damon was an absolute delight. His charming affection and constant desire for companionship were heartwarming. We indulged in daily park visits, where watching him gleefully mingle with larger dogs and tire himself out playing fetch was an endearing spectacle. Damon was a loyal companion, always tailing me throughout the day, which made it even more enjoyable to pause my routine and shower him with love. Growing up with a Pomeranian, his presence invoked fond memories and made me appreciate the breed's typical traits. However, Damon stood out with his unique behaviors, such as making little circles and scratching the floor to signal playtime - it was impossible not to be smitten. Kevyn, the homeowner, made the experience seamless with detailed, printed instructions for both pet and house care. The accommodations provided were extremely comfortable, complete with a king-sized bed, a personal bathroom, and ample closet space. I wholeheartedly recommend this sit, as it was a pleasing and nostalgic experience filled with joy and comfort.
Wonderful sit, great pets, lovely people :). We really enjoyed our time in Daventry and we were sad to leave. Marley is a brilliant dog, who was a delight to look after and we really bonded with him. He is such a character and he really kept us entertained. He has an obsession with apples and took us to every apple tree on our walks! The three cats were also a pleasure to care for. Antwanette and Phil were very welcoming, very generous and even brought us back a small gift from their trip abroad :). The house and bed was so comfortable, we had very cosy nights in on the sofa, with Marley in between us and Groot sat on our laps. We would definitely do this sit again and hope that our dates match up in the future.
Deborah and Gaston were wonderful! Deborah is very kind, friendly and down to earth. Gaston is one of the sweetest dogs I've ever met and has an amazing temperament. I will miss him! Clear instructions made this sit a breeze. The location is very safe and walkable, with lots of restaurants, stores, parks and public transportation nearby. Great experience!
