Perfect Houston location, beautiful home, easy-care feline, and gracious hosts ... a great experience!

For Inga and Simon:
Thanks for everything. The warm welcome, the recommendations, the terrific communication, everything. Please don't lose my number. Whether for future Sunshine-sitting or a leisurely evening at Crisp, I'm totally in.

For potential future sitters:
First of all, I'll fight you for the chance to housesit for these folks! Just kidding. Mostly. :-)

Now that we have that out of the way, a few pro tips for future sitters...

1. Sunshine is an easy-care cat. She's not a touchy-feely, snuggles-and-purrs kind of feline, but she is her own special kind of cool. She does fist bumps and high-fives for treats, and she's a great conversationalist. Seriously, she will come and "talk" to you and will also respond when you talk with her. Just respect her boundaries and she'll be your buddy, albeit from a little distance.

2. Explore the neighborhood. The Heights is full of wonderful food, interesting walks, terrific plant nurseries, eclectic shopping, etc. It's one of those neighborhoods where you can find everything from old-school Craftsman to new-build modern and everything in between. For veggie/vegan eaters, there are lots of nearby choices (Govinda's buffet is a personal favorite, but there are plenty of others). The location is close to downtown and gives easy access to freeways for exploring farther afield.

3. Inga and Simon's home is clean, modern, and comfortable. It's a three-story home, so you'll need to be able to handle stairs. I felt safe at all times, both in and around the home, even as a single female sitter. And there are a couple of decks/patios for relaxing outside. Sweet!

A really great housesit, and highly recommended. Thanks again, Inga and Simon (and a fist bump for Sunshine, my yoga buddy!).
