I had an amazing one-week house sit at Laurie's luxurious apartment. The rooftop, private patio, hot tub, gym, swimming pool and stunning views made it a delightful stay. Laurie was incredibly welcoming, showing me around before her departure. She was responsive to my questions and even brought me a gift from her trip and offered me future stay if needed when she learned I was enjoying it. The two cats, Polly and Pecan, had distinct personalities. Polly stayed shy in the bedroom, while Pecan, lively and sun-loving, enjoyed the balcony. Both preferred wet food. Bode, the smart and affectionate dog, loved outdoor walks and cuddling on the couch. Harrison, though blind, became endearingly clingy after an initial adjustment period. His need for extra care was worth the rewarding companionship. Our evenings were spent relaxing together on the sofa, with occasional visits from Pecan. When I went to bed, Bode always jumped to my bed and followed by Harrison, we shared a cozy sleep together. Laurie's thoughtful gestures, the pets' unique charms, and the apartment's amenities made this house sit truly memorable.
Nina and Jeremey are very kind and generous. They welcomed us to their casitas two days early, giving us the time to get to know their dog (Sami & Pepper), the property and our responsibilities while sitting. Sami & Pepper are very loving sweet dogs. They really enjoy their time on the beach, swimming, chasing crabs and playing in the water. While at home, they are both super chill enjoy lounging on the couch, being pet and following us around while we took care of the pool and property. All and all, this was a great sit for us. We enjoyed the doggies and the location.
This was a great sit is a really special place with some super chill dogs and a very sweet kitty. The house is comfortable and sits on a peninsula right on the water. It’s beautiful. I wish the weather was better during my sit there! Tilly’s playful, friendly personality is as big as she is. And she IS BIG. But have no fear, she’s gentle and well behaved. Perry is a wee lad, equally sweet and loves a lap. Kitty stays to herself for the most part except for when she comes looking for a rub and a pet. Cassie was great and answered all of my questions quickly. I highly recommend this sit!
We had a brilliant start to the year sitting for the wonderful Buzzy! He’s such a sweet natured dog, and so easy to look after. He loves his playtime, especially throw and catch in the local park and he’s ever so gentle with treats - he melted our hearts from day one. Judi and Gordon are really lovely people, and they made us feel at home from the outset. We met in advance, and they provided us with a thorough handover before leaving for the airport. Communication throughout the sit was regular as when we needed. Their home had everything we needed for a comfortable stay and the local area is great, with Highgate, Archway and Crouch End all on the doorstep! We miss Buzzy already and hope to stay in contact. Looking after Jane’s pet family was my first ever sit with THS, and what a great start that was! Great communication from Jane, who very kindly (and bravely!) selected a sitter new to THS and with character references only. I arrived a day earlier, to meet Jane, her family, and the pets, and to get my bearings in the new place. I had a spacious guest bedroom with a very comfortable bed and en suite, plenty of storage space, and room in the fridge. Jane and her husband Alex showed me the ropes, provided with detailed description of the pets’ routines and info about local amenities and attractions. All four members of Jane’s furry family – dogs Alfie and Mimi, and cats Pusspuss and Millie – get on very well with each other. The cats come in around mealtimes for food and a rub under the chin (Millie) or on the back (Pusspuss). Alfie is a cheerful little chappy, who loves playing and hiding with his doughnut toy from you under the couch, and Mimi is a very gentle soul, who is doing fantastically well settling in her new forever home. Dogs are very happy to be snoozing between the walks and love cuddles on the sofa, and cats are very independent and do their own thing, yet they are curious and might come to keep you company in your bedroom at night, if you leave the door open. Food prep /feeding routines etc are very straightforward and pets are not fussy with their food. Just watch for the differences between cats, as I was fulled by Millie on the first day, who pretended to be Pusspuss, so she could finish off his dinner :D. I stayed at Jane’s in early August, during a heat wave, so the walkies were restricted to the cooler hours of morning and evening, with a quick dash around the block in mid-day, and I couldn’t really take dogs on longer walks in the countryside, as it was very hot and I didn’t have their car harnesses. But I was happy to explore the town and surroundings on my own. The house is in a lovely area of Eastbourne, just 10-15 mins walk from the beach, the beginning of the promenade and the Beachy Head walk. There is a hop on/hop off sightseeing bus with a circular route around town, an art gallery, plenty of pubs, Tesco Express a few doors down from the house, and larger supermarkets within 15-20 mins drive. The house is a Victorian semi, and it was pleasantly cool inside even in +36 C weather. Parking might be a bit of an issue, if you expect to be able to park right by the front door every time (it’s on-street parking and spaces are often taken by shoppers), but there is plenty of parking in the area and hosts provide visitors parking passes. Once I unloaded on arrival, I didn’t mind leaving my car on a parallel street, 2-3 minutes walk away from the house, where one could park for free and not use the passes at all. I loved my time in Eastbourne with Jane’s furry family and I hope they had a great time with me as well. I would certainly come back, if our schedules align. Sitting for Pepper was such a joy. Fiona gave us a warm welcome, showed us around the house and neighbourhood so we could get to know Pepper and see some of the local dog parks and amenities. Pepper is the most wonderful pup - she’s sweet and loyal, loves forest walks and is friendly with other dogs. She’s keen to play but will happily chill at home between outings. Walking her was fun and easy, she’s a great companion for exploring nature from their beautiful East Van base. The house is beautiful, comfortable and clean as a pin. It’s a wonderful place to stay in, we loved being there. We were able to enjoy so much Vancouver sunshine in the lovely garden with views of the North Shore. It’s close to transport links, shops and amenities, we enjoyed lots of walks from the door to neighbourhoods, parks, markets and beaches nearby. Fiona took care to ensure we had everything we needed and was available to answer questions throughout the sit. We absolutely loved sitting for Pepper, she is a ray of sunshine, everyone on walks loves her and wants to say hello, and no wonder, she is such a sweet and fun character. We’re excited to sit for Fiona and Graeme again in the future, and can’t wait to see Pepper again.
