I could tell my pets were very happy with the way Lucille cared for them. The dog was calm & the cats were their usual chill mode, like we never left home. It was so nice to come home to them after our trip. Thanks Lucille!
Maddie! We all loved having you in Telluride. Kailo and Stella are the happiest, luckiest doggos. I would highly recommend Maddie - she's responsible and caring. Hope you can come again.
I was their second choice! But sometimes willing to be the backup yields the best rewards. HOW WE MET - I had been browsing Trusted House Sitters for over a year, mostly only daydreaming of the cool pets and house sits I would encounter. I was a bit skeptical at first and maybe a bit hesitant as well due to first timer fear. As my good friend Charlie and I began planning a ski trip for 2024, we both agreed that characterless hotels and overpriced boutique mountain lodges were not the best options for us. I don't like to eat out, so a kitchen is a must. Charlie needs his own bathroom and we both agree that a little outdoor space is critical to fully enjoy our time away from work. We looked to Air Bnb as we had in the past, but nothing really grabbed our attention. Then I remembered this Trusted house Sitter account. Mainly because it had just renewed on my Credit card statement. I proceeded to type in Aspen and Salt Lake City just to see what popped up. I made my favorites list, checked my emails and notifications, then one day this sit for Zoey and Flurry popped up. The first photo of Zoey stole my heart and I kept returning to Melissa's profile over and over. This would be my first application. After browsing for over a year and taking no action. Melissa and I had extensive emails back and forth for over 2 plus weeks before they chose me as their backup to take care of their fur babies. I was not her first choice, which is understandable due to the time I would spend away from the house while skiing, but I was flexible, she was flexible and we found a solution together. We had kept in touch and after an informative Facetime I knew I would love to do this house sit. When the first chosen Trusted house Sitter could not accommodate the dates, I was ultimately blessed to be chosen for their house sit. THE PETS FLURRY AND ZOEY - Flurry is so sweet and noble, I just loved her. An absolute angel to take care of and her soft golden locks invited frequent caressing. She really is an old soul and appreciates being loved. She can be slightly stubborn at times, but never ungrateful and she doesn't speak out of turn. Gentle nudges and bumps are her signals for ready to go out, or don't forget my dinner time. When her walk is done she will guide you home. Now for Zoey... Zoey has a look like she just broke into the chicken coup and vehemently denies any knowledge of the 3 missing eggs. This dog is a fireball. A bundle of energy, she will run as fast as you can for miles and still want more. She still thinks she's a puppy and will change direction on a dime to show her mini Lambchop toy, who is boss. I feel that Melissa's second facetime really helped me to gain Zoey's trust as I said hello to the dog over a video call. She certainly sees video and hears everything. When I first entered the home, Zoey came up to me and embraced me as if I was an old friend coming to visit. She slept with me every night and by day 2 followed me everywhere like I was the last feeder and walker on earth. CARE INSTRUCTIONS - Melissa's instructions for the care of her two lovely dogs and the house was impeccable. Honestly just super easy to follow. It's apparent this home is full of thoughtfulness, trust and love. The whole home is so well organized and that includes the pet accommodations. Food, supplements, toys, leashes, etc. are so well laid out and regimented which makes it super easy to care for the two dogs. Noting is ambiguous or left to question. THE HOME - I don't even know how to describe it, except it's truly a warm home with everything anyone could possibly need. I instantly felt like a welcomed guest and family friend. I don't want to say too much here, but let's just say Melissa has created very comfortable accommodations. THE HUMANS - Melissa and Brad are such kind and open people. I truly felt like these were my friends who appreciated what I could offer in taking care of their home and pets. In return they shared their lovely home with me. Trust is always earned and I think they understood my sincerity. I felt confident that I was able to grant them peace of mind for their vacation away from their home and pets. IF YOU READ THIS FAR - Stop scrolling and make this a favorite. When the dates line up, put your best foot forward and apply. This has to be one of the best pet sit experiences available. I know I will be back.
Rachel was absolutely fantastic to deal with. Her husband Tom was also so lovely! Their house was lovely and situated in a fantastic area with friendly neighbours! Most importantly the cats both Jack and Charlie were lovely. They were cuddly and affectionate and also a pleasure to take care of. Myself and my partner Dermot, really enjoyed the experience and felt as though both Jack and Charlie did too. We always ensured they got enough love and attention and kept up a routine for them also!
Hamish is a very friendly cat and loves cuddles and loves to get outside too. The flat is in a really nice location on the edge of a park - right on the edge of a nice large London Park. I only saw the park in winter, but I guess it is absolutely gorgeous in spring/summer. Angela is good at communicating and quick to respond to any queries.
Alison was the loveliest host ever, so kind and understanding and easy to communicate with! Her place in Geelong is so cosy and welcoming and perfect for getting into Melbourne or down to the Torquay beaches :) The best part of our stay was the amazing Jenga, of all the dogs we've looked after she was the sweetest and most well-behaved! She's shy at first but as soon as she gets to know you, she's your best friend! She loved running around in the park or walks along the coast or even cuddles on the sofa. I would recommend sitting for Jenga to anyone who has time and patience and wants to meet the kindest dog in the world :)
This was an absolutely wonderful housesit. We sadly didn’t get to meet Nigel and Heather in person, but their beautiful home in Andorra was very comfortable and their boys Santi and Jonty an absolute pleasure to spend time with. Both dogs have excellent recall and are great at walking both on and off lead. Jonty is full of energy and loves to play tug or fetch and just generally be around you. Santi is more chilled and a real softie who loves his cuddles on the couch. There were never any issues at all between them and they were super easy to care for. We weren’t sure what to expect of Andorra in January, but discovered it is a stunning winter wonderland. Heather and Nigel kindly left us their rubber crampons and ski passes which meant we had some amazing snowy walks with the boys and were able to enjoy the spectacular surrounding mountains. There is a huge network of hiking trails nearby, so can imagine it is a paradise for hill-walking when the snow melts too. Overall this was one of our favourite housesits and would highly recommend looking after Santi and Jonty.
John and his family were amazing!! We think the same about his pets! We spent beautiful days in San Mateo. Communication with John was clear and efficient. We hope to be able to return in the future!
