We were very lucky to have had Nia for our recent house sit. She communicated well before the sit and arrived as planned. We shared a meal before we left which gave us time to get to know her and tell her about the house and our pets. After we left it soon became clear the cats loved Nia and the attention she gave them. We were kept informed throughout her stay with regular updates and video clips of what they were up to and how the garden was growing etc. We highly recommend Nia as a pet/house sitter and we would certainly have her back should the opportunity arise. Thanks again Nia
I am struggling with naming our top adjective to describe Michael and Jeanne. "Conscientious" will likely be it but then again, "personable," "reliable," "organised," and "animal-loving" are top contenders. If you are reading this review and contemplating inviting this couple to watch your pets, then look no further. We have had a number of excellent house sitters but this pair was next level in terms of the love they showed our cats, Maxx and Nala. When we came back, we could our animals already missed them. These cats, who have never slept with anyone other than us, were getting in bed with them each night -- and that meant climbing stairs! The day before our trip, Nala got an ear infection and had to be put on steroids for asthma. Michael and Jeanne did not sign up for that when the sit was booked but they took it in stride. In the last-minute rush, I relayed that Nala needed her oral steroids morning and night. Michael read the RX label, indicating one dose a day, and contacted the vet to clarify. So you can see why "conscientious" is right up there. They saved Nala from an overdose! We were gone three weeks and they sent us just the right amount of pictures and videos. They bought cat toys (I forgot to put ours out!) and actively engaged with them, including 20-minute massages for Maxx. I truly believed them when they said they fell in love with our fur babies. The house was spotless (which was not important to me but truly appreciated) but I smiled when all six water stations in our yard were filled. They took seriously my love for and the needs of the wildlife in our yard. Our plants were all in good condition as well. Sensing they were "next level" when I met them, I predicted they would want to leave a meal for us upon our return. I asked them not to but they found another way to bow out with class. They made a donation to a nonprofit I work with instead. This I learned from the lovely thank you note they left. I hope they will consider Charles and I friends because we certainly feel that way about them now. What special people. If you book them, treat them well because they are going to do that for you for sure.
I feel that Julia is simply the best person and pet sitter I could ask for. They really cared for our cat and gave him lots of attention. She is flexible, upbeat, reliable, considerate and great at communicating. I highly recommend Julia and Chris.
Hannah and Joseph housesat our three kitties for a week and a half while we were traveling for the holidays. They were very communicative and conscientious. We received daily updated on our cats with cute and funny pictures. When they noticed our 17yo cat, Amber, wasn’t eating very much, they let us know and we were able to resolve the problem quickly. They were also very resourceful and understanding when we ran out of some cat supplies. Hannah and Joseph took great care of the house. Everything was very clean and tidy when we arrived back, and we had a short time to get to know them on our arrival. We would be fortunate to find more house sitters like them, and would of course love to have them back in the future! We wish Hannah and Joseph luck in their travels!
Stefany helped me out big time by stepping in when I asked. She's a local sitter and I wasnt' having any responses so I contacted her and she fit me into her schedule even during the holidays and right after another sit across the country. She took great care of my two cats and home and I very much appreciate it!
Sabre is a sweet, honest person who stepped up at the very last moment (after the prior sitter flaked out) to watch our dog and cat for 17 days. When there were a couple minor accidents, she informed us of them right away. One involved a burnt pan (easy to do if you’re not familiar with an induction stovetop) which she offered to replace. Sabre also washed the towels and sheets, and made up the bed before we got home. The yard was pooper scooped and litter box was clean. Pets seemed well-cared for. When she had to leave town for several hours one day, she made sure to arrange for our neighbor take care of the pets. Additionally, I appreciated how she didn’t assume that it would be ok to bring her cat. When we found out she was going to keep her cat in a kennel during her stay here, we told her she could bring him which worked out fine. Overall, I would confidently recommend Sabre to watch your pets and house.
Amanda is truly our trusted sitter "find"! She comes back regularly, so much so that our kitties think she is their secondary owner! Always reliable, clean, responsible and most of all loves our cats as much as we do! Good communicator, self reliant - all in all a perfect "10"!
Joi did a wonderful job caring for my two cats and two guinea pigs, as well as caring for my home! She is coming back in November for a long sit while I am out of the country and we all can’t wait. Joi had experience with rabbits and jumped right in with guinea pig care. She is so calm around them that they were sitting on her lap day one! She spent time preparing their vegetables and kept their enclosure and room clean, which requires daily effort. She even washed the floor mats in their room so it was fresh when I returned home. She went above and beyond sending me daily photos and videos so I could see that everyone was healthy and happy. It was apparent to me that she spent a lot of time with my pets, which is very important so they don’t become stressed and lonely when I am away. Joi also took excellent care of my two cats. They receive daily wet food with some medication and she ensured that they received it on time. My cats barely noticed when I returned because they got so much attention from Joi. She took excellent care of my front garden flowers and my tomato and herb hydroponic gardens. These take some daily attention and time in the summer, and I returned home to them looking great! Joi is a very caring, clean, and thoughtful sitter and I hope she comes back many more times!
Jenima is an excellent sitter! She is organized, communicative and flexible throughout the stay. We needed a sitter at the last minute because Jazz got sick, and Jenima saved us. We left a little worried about him, but Jenima took care of him really well and kept us informed. Cats love her! We definitely recommend her to take care of your pets!
Tonya was great and filled in after our other sitter had to cancel. She was very self sufficient and navigated acclimating herself to everything since she arrived after we left. She gave thoughtful updates on my cat and I could tell she really enjoyed her, so that means the world to me! She left the place immaculate and we will certainly have Tonya back!
Is it better to board cats or leave at home?
Veterinarians advising to leave cats at home with a pet sitter who will stay overnight in your home, boarding is not recommended for cats as they are stressed in a new environment, you can find a sitter who will care for your cats and home overnight at Sittsy.
How much should you pay someone to watch your cat?
At least 20$ per visit, $10/week per overnight watching in your home, otherwise you can find a free sitter at Sittsy.
What do people do with their cats when they go on vacation?
Inviting a cat sitter to your home, boarding the cat with a local business, asking a friend, family or neighbour to feed and check the well-being. Beautiful property, charming dog cottages, kind and patient staff, happy dogs! We took our two dogs here for a three night stay. A few days before their doggy-cation, we took them for a 3 hour doggy daycare to check out the place and give the dogs a chance to become familiar with where they’d be staying. I have nothing but great things to say about Canterbury Tails—they have a large play yard where dogs can socialize with other dog friends or separate themselves if they’re not feeling it! Their temperature controlled cottage style homes with enclosed outdoor patios have cots and blankets. If your dog develops a bond with another guest, they can bunk them together! Canterbury also offers 1:1 playtime and walks for a small charge. We also opted for the lavender exit bath upon pick up! Our dogs were well taken care of. Their “smiles” at pick up time said it all! I highly recommend this dog resort. I want to give a special shout-out to Shilo, a staff member who was friendly and welcoming from the very first phone call. She even updated me on how the dogs were doing when I called during our trip (I’m THAT dog mama). Thank you Shilo!!
Like most dog owners, I'm apprehensive about leaving my dog with strangers. The staff here made the drop-off process so seamless, my dog didn't even know I was gone. The tracker collar I have on him showed he really played a lot and he was happy and exhausted when I picked him up. Well done and 10/10 would recommend.
I have left my Husky there twice. The first time everything went great, pretty much.. The second time i had a family emergency, i needed somewhere again for my dog. I thought i would be gone a week but things turned out different and i only needed one night. I called first thing the next morning to let them know i would be picking her up that day. It was after noon so i just expected to pay for that day. When i picked up my dog I was told the lady was out to lunch. Not expecting any problems i said it was ok. Within a few days i see charges on my bank statement i do not recognize so i call. Long story short i was charged almost 500.00 dollars. The lady Said she found errors on their billing end. She said she would give me a Credit of $118.00 get this, TO GO TOWARDS MY NEXT STAY THERE. So no there was no credit given. They must be hurting to pull things like this. I won't be going back there . It's to bad because they could make a lot more money being honest.
Last year, We needed someone to watch the dogs. This place seemed like it would be great! I booked it and found out that my brother in law was staying home so he would be able to watch the dogs! I called the place back, literally within 45 minutes of booking, and they said that it wouldn't be a problem.... Guess what? It was a problem! I called again when we came back from our trip and they charged us $275 for NO dogs and cancelling within 45 minutes of booking! This was such a scam! I called our credit card company and they said because this company had responded to our dispute we wouldn't get our money back! This was such an awful experience that they wouldn't even honor anything! On top of that they said they were refunding it and never did. Be very careful about booking this place because they are NON REFUNDABLE even if you book it and cancel within the same hour. It is my recommendation to not make reservations with this place and just see if they have room because if you don't end up needing them, you will be out your money. They must be really desperate for money since they wouldn't return the money for dogs they never even watched! Why am I writing this a year later? Because, I need a place and can't go there because they already stole my money! Even if I did take my dog there, I don't believe they would treat my dog like they should. NOT AT ALL RECOMMENDED!
Canterbury Tails Dog Resort is amazing!! I'm super picky about who is taking care of my best friend Dolly. She means everything to me. I'd give Canterbury Tails 10 stars if I could. From the tour of the property and meeting the team members, I actually wished I could stay there. Safe, clean, friendly and incredible humans that truly love what they're doing. Truly a resort! You can add on play sessions, baths, and other activities. I'll never go anywhere else! Thank you to everyone at Canterbury Tails Dog Resort for the love and care you provided to my Dolly.
Canterbury tales is by far the only place I would take my dog on the Central Coast. After at least 10 trips and some for multiple days, my boy "Scooter" always comes back happy and healthy. It truly seems like the people that work there have a great love for the animals they take care of and it's calming knowing that I can trust them 💯 with my favorite little guy. Thank you everyone at Canterbury Tails Dog Resort for the great job you do, much appreciation!!
This is a horrible facility with horrible staff and an unstable owner. Our dog needed immediate emergency care upon pickup and and when telling the owner about it she started yelling and blaming us. Not once did her or her staff call and tell us our dog was not eating, not drinking, couldn’t walk or lift her head. Not one call, text, nothing! We called several times while in vacation and her staff told us the opposite. They told us our dogs were doing well eating and drinking. This place is horrible!!!
I love this kennel. More importantly, my dogs love this kennel. I lived in Paso for two years, while my boyfriend lived on the east coast. As a result, I needed to board my dogs (two Boxers, 6 year old male and 4 year old female) for extended stays. I toured the Canterbury facility and found it immaculate and the staff friendly. The owners were professional and accommodating. The kennels are spacious private rooms, with heat and air conditioning and their own little yard. If social, the dogs are also taken for group play in the yard. When I picked up my dogs after their first stay, they were happy to see me, but clearly would have been happy to stay. On recurring visits, they even ran around the yard trying to avoid me and the leash to extend their stay. The staff members are great with the dogs, exhibiting sincere affection for them. My dogs would get excited in the car as we approached the kennel. I have since moved from the area, but I drive my dogs down when I need to leave them for an extended stay, because I know they will be happy and well cared for. I have never encountered a kennel as good as this one. It's so beautiful, with its little Tudor kennels under the old twisted oaks, that I love the few minutes I spend there dropping off/picking up the dogs. I highly recommend it.
We have very high drive, high feelings working dogs and this place gets it. Everything they're is curated to understand the dog's needs and provide a lovely away from home experience. Everytime we get a report at pickup, I'm grateful for their deep knowledge of dogs.
I called to make a last minute reservation over the weekend and learned over the phone that they do not take pit bull mixes. After assuring the woman on the phone that my dog is well socialized and very friendly with adults, children and dogs, and tolerating her response of "pit bulls are usually very aggressive," she spoke with her manager and decided they could take him for the weekend. Between that time I was happy to have found a neighbor who was able to watch my dog instead. They will not have my business.
We use Janice 2x each week for our loving fur baby. She is a true asset to our community and we trust her with our precious Beagle. Plus he loves going and playing with his friends there. We don't know what we would do without her and her services.
We were in town visiting family from out of state with our two pups who’d never been in the care of anyone else and Janice was absolutely wonderful and extremely accommodating to both of our dogs and to us, she even sent pics of our pups to ensure our peace of mind. Janice was extremely sweet and we wish we had Janice where we leave for pup sitting back home
Janice was fantastic! She provided excellent service and quickly addressed our needs. She treats all dogs as if they were her own and kept us updated on our dog’s well-being. She made us feel very comfortable and worry-free. I highly recommend her!
13 year old Tony usually stays with my mom when we go on vacation. This year we were on vacation at the same time. Janice the owner of Pet Nanny Paso was the perfect solution. She LOVES dogs!!! Her house is a dream doggie daycare. It is dog friendly and organized. Her expertise and passion for dogs made us feel that Tony was in the perfect place. He had a great visit with no adjustment issues. The dogs at Pet Nanny Paso were all friendly and playful. Janice sent us texts and pictures each day to show us how Tony's vacation was going. He had a blast! We recommend Pet Nanny Paso to anyone.
2nd time having Janice keep our weimaraner Jade. We love her and she's so in tuned to the dogs. She kept her overnight both times. Best pet sitter in paso will keep using her every time we come up.
We dropped off our Mini Schnauzer while we were at Hearst Castle and Sensorio. Janice is so nice and attentive. She was patient showing us around her large yard set up for dogs, texted photos while we were out, and also let us know that our harness was a size too small which we hadn't noticed. We'll definitely go with the Pet Nanny again next time we are in Paso Robles!
Janice is an exceptional caretaker for dogs. She's very professional and kind hearted. She took take care of my dog on short notice when I was visiting Paso Robles. I l would definitely recommend her if you need someone to take care of or watch your dog.
She was able to take me last minute. She also updated me on how my dog was doing throughout the day. Would definitely recommend.
What a pleasure to discover Janice’s pet service. I didn’t really want to leave my 17 month old golden doodle at our air B & B while I went to a quarterly wine pick up party. Janice has a perfect spot for my energetic girl and I picked up a tired and very happy girl after an evening of playing with others. Thank you Janice!!! I will return.
Janice was very easy to work with and my dogs were safe and having fun while we were out. Thank you, Janice!
Our 6 lb. Yorkshire Terrier loved spending the day at Susan’s Bed and Bisquits. We were traveling through the area and needed the afternoon to visit a senior friend and be out and about. I highly recommend Susan’s.
First time boarding our puppy, I will never go anywhere else! Susan has a great facility, and clearly loves the "guests" in her care. ✓ Clean facility ✓ 4 separate sections for small/large dogs ✓ Responsive communications ✓ Misters and indoor/outdoor access when hot ✓ Daily treats and individual attention ✓ Very reasonable rates ✓ Easy drop off/pick up ✓ Even sent daily video of my pup playing and happy This is the kind of business that makes you want to give them your money!!
Took our dog here when we went to Pismo and wine tasting for the weekend. She was very friendly and sent us picture updates of our dog while she was watching her. I will definitely use this place again
Susan is great and our dog loves it there. Would highly recommend!!
We Love Susan's. Very personal and caring about our dog Roxie
My dog and I love Susan's Bed and Biscuit. Susan takes such good care of my dog, and I trust her fully with my guy. I have been going there for 7 years now and love it.
Great lady take care of our dog very well
My dog was treated just like she was at home! Thank you Susan!
Susan did a great job dog sitting our dog for 9 days. She sent updates and introduced new did to current visitors over by one. She has much dog experience and it it shows. Our dog had a great time there.
Lots of love and excellent care. Reasonable pricing.
UPDATE: It has been over a month and the drama continues. The owner initially refused to respond to requests despite them having my house key for a month without my consent. Whenever she responds she accuses me of harassment. She has tried to dodge all responsibility for losing my house key, even claiming I signed an agreement where Posh Pets is not responsible for any keys they lose. I requested the reference (as I have missed paragraphs in the past, it was possible I missed it now). She seemed pretty happy to do so. Honestly, so was I, so I could close this drama out and block all associated contact information. However, when I checked my phone after work, I found I was yet again being accussed of being too emotional and committing harassment...all because I am not, as far as I can tell, acquiescing to her demands. ORIGINAL: Very unprofessional. I'm absolutely floored by this experience. Multiple states and countries using pet sitters and have never experienced this. I should have known but I ignored the red flags. Over an hour late for the first meeting with no notification. Told I would get photos/touch points (my words) every visit. [I was told at the end this is not a guarantee and she didn't know who told me that....]. Had to constantly ask for pics during every trip. This was how I discovered they forgot to feed my cats one day- was never refunded but it drove me to get some auto feeders so they would at least have dry food if forgotten again (silver lining). But then they weren't sure if they missed the day or not. The icing was three days before leaving on a work trip, they can't get in the safe to get my house key and, apparently, it is MY problem to solve. I found this out at 8:30pm. After confronting them with their unprofessionalism, my service was cancelled, and oh...I can't get my only spare key back for a couple weeks (I rent so I can't go making random keys). This is after my upcoming work trip. Great position to put my cats and me in. Appreciate it. I will say they did dig out some litter from some boxes when I first moved to the area, was sent on a one week work trip immediately, and thought one bag would work since I had recently purchased a litter robot. So according to PPS, because I made that mistake, it's okay for their unprofessionalism.
