Carole and Ron are excellent cat-sitters! They took very good care of my cat Lola and of my house. I came home to a happy cat and a very clean and tidy house. They sent me pictures of Lola and kept me updated, so that I had a very relaxed holiday. I very highly recommend them as cat- sitters and I would be thrilled if they would come back to sit for Lola again. Thank you so much!
I am struggling with naming our top adjective to describe Michael and Jeanne. "Conscientious" will likely be it but then again, "personable," "reliable," "organised," and "animal-loving" are top contenders. If you are reading this review and contemplating inviting this couple to watch your pets, then look no further. We have had a number of excellent house sitters but this pair was next level in terms of the love they showed our cats, Maxx and Nala. When we came back, we could our animals already missed them. These cats, who have never slept with anyone other than us, were getting in bed with them each night -- and that meant climbing stairs! The day before our trip, Nala got an ear infection and had to be put on steroids for asthma. Michael and Jeanne did not sign up for that when the sit was booked but they took it in stride. In the last-minute rush, I relayed that Nala needed her oral steroids morning and night. Michael read the RX label, indicating one dose a day, and contacted the vet to clarify. So you can see why "conscientious" is right up there. They saved Nala from an overdose! We were gone three weeks and they sent us just the right amount of pictures and videos. They bought cat toys (I forgot to put ours out!) and actively engaged with them, including 20-minute massages for Maxx. I truly believed them when they said they fell in love with our fur babies. The house was spotless (which was not important to me but truly appreciated) but I smiled when all six water stations in our yard were filled. They took seriously my love for and the needs of the wildlife in our yard. Our plants were all in good condition as well. Sensing they were "next level" when I met them, I predicted they would want to leave a meal for us upon our return. I asked them not to but they found another way to bow out with class. They made a donation to a nonprofit I work with instead. This I learned from the lovely thank you note they left. I hope they will consider Charles and I friends because we certainly feel that way about them now. What special people. If you book them, treat them well because they are going to do that for you for sure.
Best house and pet sitters we've ever had! They definitely gave our cat and dog plenty of love and attention.
Kathryn was amazing. She helped me figure plans out after another sitter dropped out at the last minute and saved the day! My cat and fish were well taken care of, and she was super communicative when my tank had a problem child moment. Would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, helpful, and caring sitter!!
Joi did a wonderful job caring for my two cats and two guinea pigs, as well as caring for my home! She is coming back in November for a long sit while I am out of the country and we all can’t wait. Joi had experience with rabbits and jumped right in with guinea pig care. She is so calm around them that they were sitting on her lap day one! She spent time preparing their vegetables and kept their enclosure and room clean, which requires daily effort. She even washed the floor mats in their room so it was fresh when I returned home. She went above and beyond sending me daily photos and videos so I could see that everyone was healthy and happy. It was apparent to me that she spent a lot of time with my pets, which is very important so they don’t become stressed and lonely when I am away. Joi also took excellent care of my two cats. They receive daily wet food with some medication and she ensured that they received it on time. My cats barely noticed when I returned because they got so much attention from Joi. She took excellent care of my front garden flowers and my tomato and herb hydroponic gardens. These take some daily attention and time in the summer, and I returned home to them looking great! Joi is a very caring, clean, and thoughtful sitter and I hope she comes back many more times!
Lindsey was super communicative, friendly, responsible, and an excellent sitter for our two cats. When we returned, our home was clean and our cats relaxed and happy as if we had never left ! She sent us photos and updates every day, as requested, and when a random mishap occurred in the apartment, she let us know right away and was proactive in handling issue. We felt like both our cats and our home were in very caring, capable and respectful hands. Excellent! Thank you Lindsey!
Someone was smiling down on us when Kevin and Mary clicked on our very first House Sitter advert. They are straightforward, pleasant, reliable and fun. They kept in touch about their own plans when their flights were delayed. They tactfully left the house when our own cancelled flights meant we were staying a few hours longer than first planned. They sent just the right amount of photos, videos and texts of our cat while we were away! We all loved that. And on our return, oh my word, the house fairies had been to visit! They somehow managed to walk the perfect line between improving everything, without interfering at all. Clean, tidy, replenished. They asked what food we’d like on our return and boy did they deliver! Home made bean stew :-) and different things for the children. Really kind and generous. Communication was clear and also witty..! They dealt with the churn of small mammals our “somewhat independent” cat brought through the flap without complaint. They are a really nice couple, exuding a lovely American warmth and charm. It was a real pleasure, Kevin and Mary, thank you.
Catherine was a wonderful sitter for our 17 year old cat Zabba. She sent us pictures twice a day and kept us informed about Zabba’s daily activities. We came home to a clean home and would definitely recommend her as a pet/ house sitter. My only concern was that she doesn’t drive and with an older cat, I just prayed that Zabba didn’t need to go to the vet…. And he didn’t 🥰. We will ask her again for sure.
We can not exaggerate the care and love Juliet and Laurent gave to our cat, Piero, during his the last few weeks of life. While we left for our trip thinking he merely had a bladder infection, his symptoms turned for the worse a weeks into their sit and later revealed he had cancer. No one would wish their sitter to need to hospice their cat but Juliet and Laurent showed such compassion for Piero and volunteered to be with him when we made the decision to put him down. It was an emotional time for all of us and we will be forever grateful to our two caring cat and house sitters. We have had many fantastic housesitters through zeewoi but Juliet and Laurent top the list. Their professionalism, constant communication and compassion were exceptional. Should you have the opportunity to have them in your home, do not hesitate to book them, you will have no regrets. We do, however, regret that they had such a short time with Piero and had to experience such a painful event.
Oh wow! Everyone should be so lucky to have Nicholas and Veerle watch their house and pets. These lovely people are pros! They communicated early and often, were super accommodating to some last minute changes (it was originally going to be only our cats to watch but we decided to keep the dog home as well so that added to the schedule and care needs) and they left the house spotless and all set up for another sitter who came in after them. We didn’t get the chance to meet because my departure and arrival times but I dearly hope I get to in the future because they were just great! I even heard how nice they were from My neighbors who say them out walking our dog. :-) They also sent regular pictures of the pets which look like pro-photography! Cannot recommend this couple enough! Your pets and house will be in good hands!
Is it better to board cats or leave at home?
Veterinarians advising to leave cats at home with a pet sitter who will stay overnight in your home, boarding is not recommended for cats as they are stressed in a new environment, you can find a sitter who will care for your cats and home overnight at Sittsy.
How much should you pay someone to watch your cat?

What do people do with their cats when they go on vacation?
Inviting a cat sitter to your home, boarding the cat with a local business, asking a friend, family or neighbour to feed and check the well-being. First, the information through their texts link is inaccurate sending you to a wrong location with inaccurate business name. Second my dogs cut was done very poorly. He has clipper burns leaving him in pain now licking the spot. He has clipper gashes in his coat and his beard is completely lopsided. The only good thing is his hair will grow back. Needless to say I’m disappointed.
Very nice and friendly staff!!! I completely missed my appointment and they were very understanding and accommodated me the very next day. Sandra did an excellent job grooming my Golden Retriever, though I know it wasn’t easy :) I love this place and couldn’t ask for a better team!!! Thank you ❤️
The owners/staff, and the services are outstanding! Our mini schnauzer is always taken well care of and leaves looking great! Scheduling is easy and the appointment text reminders are an added bonus. We highly recommend this place for your dog grooming needs in Susanville!
We have 3 dogs 1 very young lab that is a handful. Paws is great with them. They handle each dogs personality so good. Our chocolate lab would not let anyone bathe him until we went to Paws. Now he loves going and he really does have a smile when he leaves.
My yellow lab went in a dirty white dog. They did an amazing job shampooing and deshedding him. I can't believe how much old dead hair they removed from him. Just an amazing transformation. It was worth every penny. I could tell he felt better too. I think we'll go every three or four months.
Friendly and clean atmosphere as well as the groomers were very helpful. Disappointed in Harley's cut, but the Owner saw to it that it was corrected immediately. I am sure it will take several visits for the dogs to be groomed properly. Thank you for being there 🐾🐶 …
There are 8 dog groomers listed in the Susanville Area, I called all of them to schedule a grooming appointment for my pup. Out of all of them, Paws For Effect was the ONLY to provide GREAT customer service and had a user friendly website to book an appointment with. My dog was ready for pickup when promised, and looked better than ever! It’s nice to see businesses still caring about customer service, and providing above standard results. Will not go anywhere else!!
I own Hounds, and my 4 year old Bella, came home sleek and clean! Her coat is soft, shining and healthy. She is absolutely beautiful. I will be taking her in a lot more throughout the year. Thank you Miss Hannah!
It was my first time with my 10 month old puppy. She had her nails done. The groomer cut her quick badly. She also had her own dog there in a cage, narking consta. Worst nails ever, all different lengths, split them. Very disappointed
All the ladies are great they do an amazing job on Neli thanks to all
Absolutely will always return … my girl is absolutely amazing.. I’ve been so busy didn’t realize she even opened up her own business… amazing and will be always returning 🌹🌹🌹🌹🥰🥰🥰🥰 …. We conquer 4 dog nails today and was fast speedy and prompt 🌹🌹🌹🌹 will always be grateful …
AMAZING!! Is the only way to describe this business! The staff treat every dog as their own and go above and beyond to ensure that each pet and pet parent feel pampered! This is the kind of place I feel comfortable dropping off my pet knowing they are being spoiled! Hands down the best 👌 …
Made an appointment for 1PM, got there 15 mins early and they were closed. I waited until 1:08 and left. I later called to say I was there for my appointment but no one was there. The response I received was, "I know". Nothing more. Do not suggest this business. No calls, no apologies.
Serena does a outstanding job! Zeus always turns out looking so handsome.
I really wanted to like this grooming facility. When I came in I was quoted 100.00 for a shave down and bath for my dog, which is a fair price for an extra large breed dog. When I picked up, it was 60% more ($160) due to dematting. Normally that is not something that has to be done if you are shaving the whole dog short, but perhaps there was some brushing that still needed to be done after the shaving? Im not sure. I don’t mind if they need to charge extra for a more extensive groom, that’s fair, but please make this known during the consultation. I pointed out where he was matted, and asked the groomer to feel them so she could properly assess the price, and I was still charged almost twice the quoted price. I have never been up charged for a groom before and have never paid that much for grooming my dog, even when I lived in the Bay. My dog is a major pain with his nails, so they are still very long, and because the quick is visible (light nails) I can see there is a still a lot that could have been taken off. The dew claws are also very long, and I think they may have been forgotten. If you are going to charge a premium, spend extra time on the details like getting the nails as short as possible, or take a little extra time to get them done. I’m very disappointed. I will say the groomer (the owners daughter) was very sweet and I could tell she did care very much, which is why I left an additional star.
Serena has been great with my two Dogs. She is very knowledgeable , patient and kind.
Love how she works with our dogs.
Huge shout out to the gals at Dapper Dog grooming! I took our 14 y/o Chow/Border Collie mix to them and they did an amazing job! Our old gal looks and feels wonderful. She's a shy girl with anxiety issues and bad hips, they took such good care of her!! I really can't say enough good things! Thank you just isn't enough!!
They were extremely gentle with our rescues. Both dogs had bad experiences with previous groomers. These ladies took extra time with them and made it a positive experience. Worth the drive and every dollar.
This young lady is a very hard worker I would recommend her
Thank you for caring enough to reply to my review written 2 years ago. Staffing and management has indeed improved, and as you can see by my photos taken in the midst of the COVID-19 Crisis, I have been back to Pet Station Susanville. I live this store and always have, and was disgruntled by a rude employee who, as stated in your reply, does not work there anymore. I would rate 5 stars from my original review, but Tractor Supply has your hours beat. Unfortunately I have developed a habit of shopping there. Reply with your new store hours and I will be happy to shop Pet Station again.
Pet station is awesome and they are always so helpful. Great place for a happy pet.
Amazing group of employees help us out with finding our new fur baby and all the things we needed to give her the best home.
1/2024 review update: I still absolutely love Pet Station and all the staff who work there. They have a very welcoming atmosohere and the staff are very knowledgeable about their products. I want to review a toy I recently bought at Pet Station. The toy is a little green soccer ball with black speckles, And it comes in different sizes and colors. I can't remember the brand name though, but I'm certain the staff will know the toy I'm talking about. I will post a picture of it on here too. Doggo lovers need to know this little ball is THE BEST tough toy I've purchased for Squidward since she was born. I can't remember the brand name, but it should be called the "Indestruct-a-Ball," or the "Un-Tear-a-Ball," or even "Un-Ripp-a-Ball!" This ball DOES NOT DEFLATE!! And so far she hasn't been able to take bites out of it, or rip it apart either. She definitely punctures the ball and runs around with it in her mouth, but it doesn't deflate, and it truly is indestructible (although we will see what shape it's in after 6 months...that will be a true test). But so far it is amazingly tough! Squidward is a very strong chewer and has destroyed some of the "toughest" toys out there. But this little ball is THE BEST because other tough toys don't last her very long at all. So I give 5 stars to the manufacturer of this little soccer ball! And definitely ongoing 5 stars to the staff at Pet Station...you folks ROCK!❤️ 2022 review: I recently moved to Susanville and I LOVE this place. My puppy Squidward LOVES coming here and getting the braided bully sticks. And the employees are super nice, very very friendly and playful with Squid, and always knowledgeable about their products. I sincerely appreciate the one employee with short blonde hair (sorry forgot her name) who is always so helpful and caring about my puppy. She has lots of insight into treats, food, and toys that Squid will love. Thank you to Pet Station, they have a lifelong customer right here! (Pics are Squidward in her new cozy cold weather jacket for snow.)
Awesome store. Friendly staff and very helpful
Dog bath station! $15 per bath, or you can get a punch card. $50 for 5 baths. Sometimes, they have a visiting cat that's up for adoption. Not owner operated. 😟
They always have what I need and the staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. I live an hour away and my mom works over in susanville. I call the staff here and tell them what I need for my Bearded dragon and they get ut all ready for my mom to come pick it up hassle free.
use the dog wash station all the time, way easier than at home. friendly staff
Standard pet store little on the pricey side but you know it's a small shop in a small town so it is expected. What I didn't expect is they have little wash stations for your pets and they're like big barrels with hoses and nozzles and washing equipment so you can wash your pet there.
Love pet station. We bathe our dog every week here
I had the pleasure of bringing my dog to Miller K9, and Savannah is an absolute rockstar in the world of dog training! From the get-go, Savannah's warm welcome created a fantastic atmosphere. Her passion for what she does is truly infectious, and it's evident in her training methods. Savannah's personalized approach made a significant impact on my dog's behavior. The care and attention given to us showed a genuine commitment to their well-being and her desire to help educate and equip us. I'm beyond impressed with the results and our overall experience. We will definitely be returning for all our training needs!
This park is awesome! Both a large and small section, stocked poo bags, pools, running water, toys, and agility equipment. There are even benches in the shade!
Great stop on our way home. Wonderful little park for the dogs to stretch their legs!
The first time I came here I got lost, so I tried to fix the location 😅 It took me a while, but I found it! It’s very well-kept and pretty and I hope we can keep it looking like that :-) My pups love this park. I love that it has a shed for seating, a water pump, a basket of toys, and free doggy bags!! I can’t wait to see more people and pups here when it’s more well-known. The ONLY downfall is I somehow have to empty my shoes of tanbark every time we leave. 😂
We visited this wonderful park on our return trip from a dog show.
Had no idea this place was there. Good place to let your dog out for a little exercise and potty break. The people that was there while I was was super conscious of their animals and abilities to get along . A little off the beaten path but a nice area for the dogs. Glad I found it
When visiting Susanville I took my dog to the bark park, it was a nice park with plenty of doggy toys and water bowls. It was empty when we went . No other dogs were there.
Great open park! My dogs are nice but need more interaction. Good place for that!
This is a great resource in Susanville. There are two large fenced areas. I met one of the volunteers who keep this park clean and accessible to all. I highly recommended this place for exercising your dogs. Plenty of parking.
Gator loves the Bark Park and has made lots of new friends there. Most people pick up after their dogs so its clean. Most dogs are friendly. Lots of balls and toys to play with. Plenty of water bowls. Nice little shed to sit in on the big dog side, to get out of the wind and cold. Plenty of benches to sit on both sides. Lots of parking. There are no restrooms. Great place to take your dog!
Another good sized park plenty of room to throw a ball, and run around with the dogs. They have a small dog and large dog section with water on both sides, it looks like the water gets turned on during the summer and stays off during the colder months. Was able to fill a kiddie pool for the dogs to play in. They also have a pick up station to pick up after your pet. Again be mindful of your dogs, and be aware of other dogs. The shed that sits there also has some small items in it along with another kiddie pool.
I’ve been taking my 2yo dog here monthly since he was old enough to not fit in our sink and I love the job they do!! Every time my dog comes home smelling great and being super soft and brushed out. I’ve never owned a dog that liked getting groomed, but my dog is always so excited to go. The staff treat him really well and they’re always very nice and professional. I’ve never had a bad experience here and would definitely recommend them to anyone around Susanville.
First, the information through their texts link is inaccurate sending you to a wrong location with inaccurate business name. Second my dogs cut was done very poorly. He has clipper burns leaving him in pain now licking the spot. He has clipper gashes in his coat and his beard is completely lopsided. I will not give them a chance to fix this as I’m concerned for the dogs safety after being clipper burned. When he was picked up he was scared enough to have submissive urination. Needless to say I’m disappointed.
I have 2 Australian Shepherds. We just moved to Susanville in October. I usually do all our dog grooming myself, but the weather is nasty and frankly I was lazy and wanted it done by someone else. They had them from 11-2pm, my husband was told 2 hours, he came in at 1pm and they were not done. So, no problem he left and then was called to say they were finished about 2pm. He comes home, I get up at this point (I work nights 7p to 7a). The dogs were supposed have nails clipped, foot hair trimmed, hygiene clip and bath. My husband said they even asked again (what service) when he dropped off. He confirmed yes bath, feet, nail & hygiene. NIETHER of the dog’s feet were trimmed, nails not done. So I call and ask if I was charged for the above mentioned, yes they tell me. I tell them, it was not done. Then they ask if I can bring them back?! Well yes, I guess we could. But why? My husband even tipped $12 on the services, he was called and told they were ready, but they weren’t. So we should come in (which would be the 4th time today), To redo a service that was already paid for and represented as complete. They could have kept them all day and completed the service we paid for, but no. Then they offer to complete the service, if I bring them back out again in this weather to make a 4th trip to this business. Never mind, you keep the 113$, and I won’t do business with this place again. You only get one chance, especially when this was a luxury. I paid you for a service. I lived up to our end of the contract, such as dropping off on time and payment. My girl didn’t even get a face wash. See photos below
I expressed my opinion that animals should never be forced to have their fur dyed due to health risks and possible reactions even with, "Plant based dyes". The owner did reply and agreed that animals don't have a choice, yet stands by her willingness to offer the service. I had told her that this is all I was going to say, and that everyone is entitled to their opinion. My opinion, as it is in other States, agree this abuse and and when I expressed this, the owner blocked me from her Facebook page. This tells me that the owner does not take into consideration what is best for your animal, your family member, the most loyal of all friends. I originally was going to take my Hound there for a grooming, and when I ran across her page and had this brief conversation stating my opinion and concerns, she blocked me. What if my Hound is allergic to her "Plant based dyes", and uses the same equipment on my family member? It was an opinion, but her quick response was to block anyone who disagrees with her. Needless to say, I will not be taking my babies anywhere near that business. However, please do your homework regarding this practice and make your own decisions. The one star was for the fact that her solution to a possible concern was to simply disregard you.
Logan is the BEST! Their schedule is flexible for us and their prices are reasonable and we always get what we asked for.
My DeeDee is 7 years old and has never been to a dog groomer. I was so happy she got her nails done, her ears and a bath. This shop is our new favorite spot.
Logan does a fantastic job with my girls! She gave them their first cuts. Clean, spacious, and friendly shop.
Logan is awesome. 20 minutes to spare and my dog Rusty got his nails trimmed.
Logan always does an excellent job on my fur babies 💕 …
Very nice people in there, I take my dog to get his nails done , they do a great job. 😊 …
My girl is always so happy to go here for both daycare and boarding. They take such great care of her. When we board her they send us pictures every other day and she always looks so happy
Wonderful place. Our 8 month old puppy has benefited from the extra social interactions with the staff. Our puppy is more calm now, and trusts people more.
We just picked up are two little dogs from NorCal pet services after a 5 night stay. Are dogs were happy and well taken care of. The friendliest people ever. They are professionals and pay attention to details. Their communication is above par even sending us photos of are happy pets. They will be seeing us again. Thank you Nor cal Pet Services ❤️❤️
Wonderful pet boarding service, my pup is always well taken care of whenever I drop her off here. Highly recommended.
They were great. Took good care of my Chihuahua. It was his first time going to a doggy resort. They even sent me photos of him while I was on vacation
What an amazing place! Usually our dog comes home from boarding very wound up, when we picked her up from here it was a night and day difference. Can’t say enough great things about Nor Cal Pet Services! We will continue to use their services.
They are so wonderful! They take such good care of our animals. They love them almost as much as we do. 10/10 recommend
I had never boarded my almost 12 year old dog before and they offered a room for rough dogs the four days he was there he did absolutely great! Will go back he loves his friends at Nor Cal!!
After booking with them a month in advance they waited till we were on vacation to tell us our dogs vaccine was expired and wouldn’t take him. I have heard they have done this to other people as well, they will leave you stranded be carful.
My experience with nor cal pet services was amazing we had our puppy bear scheduled for a stay and where needing a shot still summer was able to recommend a local vet that got me in the same day at a reasonable price . And now we are all good to go thank you so much for the help and professionalism would definitely recommend.
