Dog Sitters in Bowen Island

We took our dog out to WAGSVILLE today just to check it out and see if it was a good fit. All I can is: wow. Beautiful property, very securely fenced. Had a good chat with the owner Barash; he has a long history in the hospitality business so that assured me he’d look after our dog well. We also were very impressed at the limit on the dog numbers found at WAGSVILLE. He outlined the dogs’ daily routine for us - they get an excellent amount of outdoors time whatever the weather, just modified when it’s snowy or rainy or hot. We will take our dog over for a stay about once a month and then leave him there for our next big trip in November. He’s going to love it there. Nice big kennels in a clean, secure, well heated building - and of course , enough space for dogs to run. Senior citizens and small dogs have their own exercise area, safe from larger more boisterous dogs. Easy to get to on Bowen Island, and the island’s veterinarian is close by.

This is the ONLY place I send my doggies when we go on vacation. The grounds are beautiful and I know that they will be taken care of. My dog has a few restrictions and with close care on site, I know that he will thrive!

Our dog, Kona, has been going to Wagsville for the last 7.5 years and we never think of making any other arrangements when we go away. We know he is in good hands here. Kona is never more excited or happy than when he hears the shuttle pull up or gets dropped off at the ferry terminal. This place is like a vacation for him as well, not just somewhere he has to go when we go on vacation!

Our dog Ruby has been going to doggie daycare since she was 2 months old. We've tried other daycares and Ruby absolutely loves Wagsville. Hands Down Flat... If we could give this place 6 stars we WOULD !!! The owner has a natural ability with all dogs and and BIG heart too. You can see it when various dogs see him too. They simply love him to bits. The best part is the one on one attention he brings to all his dogs and the grounds are simply outstanding. Thanks so much Barash for all you do for Ruby!

best dog care you could find.Whenever I turn to the road leading to the place my Bernese starts to jump in the car feeling to excited and happy to be with Barash ,Tara and Ella their young daughter who love her so sooooooooo much. Perfect size of premises meadow,pond,woods around beautiful and very healthy surroundings.Certainly the best place where your pup will be very happy,well taken care of and loved .

Our six month old Vizsla puppy just spent two weeks at the dog ranch with Carey and crew. She was a complete maniac who we had barely been able to teach to sit before the ranch. She is a completely new dog now after her two weeks. Much calmer and has learned to sit, stay, lie down and go to her bed. On top of this she is perfectly crate trained which we had also struggled with. I can't say enough good things about our experience. I feel like we are now equipped to continue our girls training. We will be life long customers and would never consider taking our pup anywhere else.

Our pup has been here for stays many times over the past 10 years - it is the only place he goes when we can’t bring him with us on vacation! The Ranch was recommended to us initially by friends who had sent their dogs there, and Karen and the team have given Rufus a wonderful, safe and secure experience every time since. He mopes around our house for a day or two after each visit - we think because he misses his friends and all the freedom and fun times. I have no hesitation in recommending Bowen Island Dog Ranch to anyone who needs boarding for their furbaby.

My dog Rocky had been going through some odd behaviour, exhibiting fear and not being his normal self prior to sending him to the Dog Ranch so I was very concerned about him but really hoping some dog time would help him get over what he was going through. I was an annoying customer and emailed a few times to see how he was doing and they always greeted me with positivity and happily gave me an update. They also post pictures on their Facebook page so you can see what they are up to. When my dog was delivered back to me, he was trying to get back in the van with his new friends and since has been acting more like his old self and playing with dogs at the park and enjoying himself again. I found it quite expensive but The facility and activities here are great - this isn't a dingy kennel where your dog is trapped and alone. They are well taken care of, exercised, socialized and loved. My pup came back tired and calm and I'm so glad I sent him. I would be happy to send him back here anytime and know he will be in good hands.

I understand that he was quite bonded to Scott and I can tell from the videos that you sent. He really focused on you. I can't say that he looks at me that intensely but we had a great walk when he came home and he was very polite and relaxed on the leash. Ellen - Ace looks very handsome and smells good too! Thank you for the grooming and styling. So glad that Ace's first time away from home was with all of you. PS the photo that I posted was from BEFORE Ellen's grooming!

Our dog had a medical issue come up early in a stay at the Ranch (nothing to do with his visit there). Karen, the owner, called us immediately and outlined the situation, her concerns and to get our input on next steps. She was amazing at taking the lead and making sure our pup could be seen by a vet as quickly as possible. Karen went out of her way to find a vet that could see our pup on short notice. She drove him to North Van and made sure he had the care he needed and we were kept up to date. We had peace of mind that he was in good hands until we could get home the next day. We truly appreciated Karen’s kindness and diligence with this situation. We highly recommend the Ranch for boarding— our dog has had several great stays and will be back next time we travel.

From what i have experienced and seen up close this Bowen dog ranch is over and above with their awsome facilities and accomendation for any pet owner they take real good care of your pet without any worries what so ever. And their grooming staff is absolutely spot on with any groom you see fit for your pet . Two thumbs up way to go Bowen Dog Ranch i am completely satisfied with the whole establishment.

We enrolled our Labrador puppy to the 21 Days Puppy Board & Train program and we couldn't have been more impressed with the results! Carey, Caroline, Mallory, and the team at Bowen Island Dog Range have done a fantastic job in transforming our little girl to a more behaved, calmer, and confident puppy. It was like she was a different puppy altogether! Throughout her training and boarding, she got to socialize with other puppies and dogs in a safe environment. With their recent renovations, the facilities are very clean and modern. There is plenty of places for the dogs to go off leash and explore in a safe forest environment. From inquiring about the Program to our puppy's last day at The Ranch, it was a great experience. They answered all our questions, and gave us regular updates on how she was doing. They even provided some additional material to help continue her training. I highly recommend Bowen Island Dog Ranch for their excellent puppy training program, great boarding facilities and wonderful staff.

We sent our 5.5 month Old English Bulldog for board and train with Carey and her group of trainers for 3 weeks. Carey and her amazing team were exceptional. They adored our puppy, sent regular updates (despite being incredibly busy), and trained our dog above and beyond our expectations. Carey took our personal situation into account and tailored our dog’s training accordingly to make our future easier. I can’t thank Carey and her team enough for the work and dedication they put in, and for the thorough download of information when we collected our newly trained puppy! I would recommend Bowen Island Dog Ranch to anyone looking to board their dog safely, and to know they will be truly looked after and enriched during their stay. Amazing amazing amazing!

We highly recommend Bowen Island Dog Ranch for their board-and-train program. It is excellent, A+ really. From initial emails to final pickup, Carey and her team were friendly, professional and very helpful. Due to the coronavirus, it was impossible to socialize our new puppy like normal times, and we were really happy with our decision to board and train at Bowen Island. Our puppy came home much calmer, much better socialized and learnt most of the basic commands down pat. You get a very detailed and well written report when you pick up your puppy to continue the training after getting home. I would recommend Bowen Island to everyone who just got a new puppy during this coronavirus time. Considering our puppy will be with us for many, many years, we consider Bowen Island to be an excellent decision to have a well-socialized, well-behaved pup! Again, A+ for Bowen Island.

We have brought our two dogs here for years. We wouldn't take them anywhere else. Karen is amazing and loves and cares for them like they were her own.

Gord and Leila are remarkable with our dogs. These are good people who are professional and skilled at what they do. We have three large breed dogs - each with unique personalities and needs. Gord and Leila are attuned to each of them and thoughtful about the dogs they match together. Their support with hikes, training, home care is all such an important part of our life and our ability to care for our dogs. Above all they are reliable and care deeply for our dogs and animals generally. We feel so fortunate to know them and have full confidence in them.

Leila and Gord run a great pet care service. Leila’s skills were instrumental in helping us raise our furbaby to be a well mannered dog and was available for questions and help when we got into trouble during her training period. Now our pup loves her weekly walks with the whole island dog crew and the pictures! You should choose Leila and Gord just to get the lovely dog walk pictures if nothing else! 100% satisfaction- choose these folks.

Leila has been absolutely amazing for our family. She has been very flexible for us and adjusted the walking schedule when issues arose, she takes great pictures and sends awesome updates which brighten the day, and most importantly she really cares for our dog. When our dog had to miss a day because she was injured, Leila came over on her own time to check on her, let her out in the backyard, and give her some attention. Couldn't have found a better person to take care of our girl.

This service raises the bar! Leila and Gord consistently go the extra mile. They treat our dog, Ziggy, like one of their own. From the beginning they have made every effort to understand his personality and his "issues." They are reliable, punctual and willing to step up at the last minute. When I missed the ferry and would be late getting home, Leila actually cooked Ziggy's dinner as she knows he has food sensitivities. BARK Pet Services is the best!

Leila is absolutely wonderful! She cares so much for our dog, and really goes above and beyond to make sure she's happy while we're at work. She's so flexible in finding alternate plans for us if our dog gets injured or if we have a longer day and need to schedule multiple walks. We're so happy to have found someone who is so dedicated to the dogs she cares for!

Absolutely the best! Lola waits eagerly by the door for her walk with Leila and the team. She gets to run free in the fields and live her best dog life! Not to mention the magical pictures that get sent along after every walk, I'm always left wondering what magic she has to get all dogs poised and posed for glamour shots.

My dog Bentley, a standard poodle, was used to being part of a pack in Toronto. When I retired and moved to Victoria, I expected to be the walker. He was very sad. He missed his dog friends. Finally I contacted Leila and Gord at Bark Pet Care Service. Bentley now has a new pack. He is so happy. He runs out the door at pickup. Sleeps soundly upon return. Sandra from Alpha Dog Pet Care has been walking my dog Welli every week for the last 2 years and I can't imagine someone better to care for my dog. She's incredibly kind, thoughtful and has a beautiful way of working with dogs and bringing out the best in them. Wednesdays are Welli's favourite day when she gets to go for a hike with Sandra and all her dog pals and Sandra is one of her favourite humans by far. Sandra also dog sits for me while I'm away and again, I couldn't think of a better person to leave my dog with. She gets spoiled with walks, beach visits, hikes in the snow and tonnes of loving attention. Thank you Sandra, you and your service give me peace of mind knowing my dog is in wonderful hands.

Alpha Dog Pet Care walked my dogs and pet sat for us for ten years. Sandra loved our animals as if they were her own. She had a true passion and special bond with all our pets. They were always so excited to go for hikes with her and they came home tired. They would be sad for days when we returned from trips as they missed her. The owner, Sandra is so compassionate and caring for all dogs. Not even her own dogs they walk. I lost my dog in the trails and she went above and beyond to help me find him. She has so much compassion towards animals, she even gave me a ride back to my house from the trails and she walked with me through the trails find try and find my dog. I have also seen her with the dogs she walks and she takes such good care of them. It was a pleasure to meet her!

We can't thank the owner, (Sandra,) enough for her help with our new puppy, we have had several trainers but our dog Jack, fell in love with Sandy, he waits for her by the door and is always thrilled to see her car. She was a great help with socializing him and giving him confidence to go out and play with other dogs, He has total faith in her and so do I!

Friendly, personable and a true lover of animals! Our black lab Ty loves Sandra and always greets her with a wild tail and big kisses :) She truly is a wonderful person to have looking after your fur baby. She has also become a great friend of our family. So if you are looking for someone who is trustworthy, responsible and 100% devoted to your pet look no further!

Alpha Dog Pet Care has been my go-to pet caregiver for three generations of dogs and many cats. Her knowledge of animal behavior and her ability to get the best from each of my cherished companions has been remarkable over the years. She cares deeply about each individual pet she takes on and will willingly do whatever extra activity is needed such as special walk situations, vet visits, medications. She always has time for extra cuddling. Her focus is always the four legged “person” she is in charge of, and my pets are so enthusiastic when she comes that her rapport is obvious. When house-sitting is required, I can travel with confidence, knowing all is in good hands. Even the bird feeders and plants are attended to!

Thank you Sandra for taking such amazing care of our dogs! They absolutely love the hikes with you and when they come back home they literally collapse on their dog beds and are so tired and content for the rest of the day.

I'm glad to have found such warm and reliable cat sitters! Don and John were available at short notice and very adaptable. They won over my cat quickly (not an easy feat!) and I appreciated the updates while I was away. I will definitely be using Little Buddies Pet Care again.
