Dog Sitters in Freeport, CA

Was assured by owner that staff would respect and secure my home and they did not. Front door was left unlocked while walker was out with my dog and back door left unlocked and open when they left. Staff also forced my fearful dog into a harness before earning their trust, sent me a report photo of her looking extremely uncomfortable in my kitchen. I let them go after four days and would not recommend them to anyone

I have trusted the care of my furry friends to Janet and her team for 16 years now. They have been through a lot with me and my cat crew - saying hello to new furry faces and some goodbyes too. I realize as I begin to think about traveling again, that using Janet and Lucky Buddy to take care of Finn while I am away is critical to me feeling comfortable. When it comes to the pets who depend on me, I have a hard time assuming that "no news is good news", so I really love the daily photos and updates. The staff is really proactive about the pet's comfort, and I know I could count on Janet to do anything needed. That's really important to me when I am out of town and sometimes very far away.

I’ve been having Janet and her team care for my sweet dog Diamond for years. I enjoy the updates they give me via email each time they visit her and I’m away, along with a sweet photo of my dog. I can tell they are people who truly care for animals and I like when they bring attention to any concerns they’ve noticed with her. They have always been accommodating to the schedule that I have and I truly appreciate them.

In a word, amazing! I had a serious medical emergency and was hospitalized with no notice. Janet and the team stepped in the same day and took care of my pup for days until I was able to return home. Thank you Lucky Buddy Petcare!

Janet and her team are really in love with animals. I’ve petsat for friends and colleagues and the overall vibe from this small group of dedicated part-timers is an appreciation of your home and your animals’ comfort in it. They also are mindful of bro gong in packages/mail and watering plants, so bonus. Also, they include pictures and little fun reports on the pets’ “state of mind” Worth it every time.

Elk Grove Pet Care was awesome. My wife Laura and I highly recommend them!!! Whitney and Leah have excellent communication skills and are well organized. At the meet and greet, they were both friendly and knowledgeable. They kept us informed throughout our trip. Upon our return, our dogs were calm and happy while our house was as it should be. Again, we highly recommend them!!!

Whitney is AMAZING! She went above and beyond for us the first time we worked with her. We had just rescued a 3rd dog about a month prior and we thought that he would be okay with us being gone for a weekend while she watched them and he destroyed the house🤦🏼‍♀️ Whitney cleaned up some messes for us which was not something she needed to do however she did it any ways! Whenever we go out of town she will be the first person we reach out to!!

We hired Whitney for 5 days while we went on vacation, and she did not disappoint! She was very responsive, and we loved having pics and updates of our pets from her. It was such a relief to not have to worry about our cats and dogs back at home because she took care of everything! I’m sure our pets were sad to see her go :) If you are in need of a sitter, she will NOT disappoint!

We are THANKFUL for Elk Grove Pet Care. We were away for TWELVE days, which is hard to do. The last time we were away this long out pet/house sitter BAILED on us mid trip. We scrambled while internationally away to find a sub. It was awful. Our husky was unfortunately ignored and it was sad to see on camera. Our fur babies love them. We used to board but we couldn't anymore with our new addition. Our high anxiety girl does not let anyone touch her but us four. They were patient with her and she LOVES them, let's them pet her, and even JUMPING in Whitney (owners) lap! This is so huge for our girl. BIG socialization step for her!! They take the best care and we are at peace when we're away. I cannot be more happy with the reliability and caring passion they have.

I’ve used Elk Grove Pet Care multiple times for the care of my two dogs and have great experiences. Whitney has taken wonderful care of dogs who range from high anxiety old weiner dog to high energy golden retriever puppy. I trust her in my home and with the care of my dogs and have had no issues.

River dogs resort is absolutely amazing! I am a bit overly protective of my dog and I never hesitate to leave him at River dogs resort. He can tell when we’re pulling into their driveway and is immediately excited. He gets to play with lots of friendly dogs all day and I never have to worry about how he is doing. The owner, Dina, is a true dog lover and treats all the dogs as if they are her own. She is flexible and always looking out for what will be best for your dog. My dog is an 85 pound German shepherd mix who has lots of energy and he always comes home happy and tired. You should look no further if you want a place your doggo will love.

River Dogs is a home-away-from-home for our 2-year-old Golden Retriever, Emma. She is always in a good mood after we pick her up. River Dogs is considered a second home for my dogs. I have been a faithful client for over two years (2-3 days a week) and have only great things to say. The owner Dina, and all of the other staff at River Dogs ensure that my dogs are safe and looked after, that they have fun and come home tired, and that I have complete peace of mind when they are under their care. The Resort is well maintained, and the location is very convenient. My dogs love Dina, they are always so excited to see her, and I love Dina for always working with me and taking great care of my babies. Consistent, reliable, caring, willing, and professional.

River Dogs is the best! our dog loves it there and the owner is so nice and helpful and loves dogs! our flight was canceled at Christmas and rescheduled for days later after we had already dropped our dog off. River Dogs extended our kennel time so we could spend longer with family and took such good care of her. so helpful and understanding!!!!! will always go there!!!

Yep, a 5 star review for Dina and River Dog Resort! We needed a last minute fun and safe spot for our 12 yo American Foxhound and were so happy Dina had an opening for Chuck. Shortly after arriving, Chuck was adventurous and tried to escape by scaling a fence but Dina did not let that affect her ability to provide safe and loving care for his stay. Upon our return she told us what happened and figured out solutions for his next stay communicating in a professional, caring and understanding way. We are impressed and highly recommend RDR!

Our boxer Abbey LOVES going to see Miss Dina every week! Abbey always has such a fun time playing with her dog buddies. We also board our dog here a few times a year and always know she will be very well taken care of. River Dogs Resort is such a great location and we will never go anywhere else!

Dina and her staff have been taking care of our two large dogs for about 5 years now! They were always responsive and easy to do pick ups and drop offs. The pups were always well cared for, happy to go(could not wait to get taken back to play!!), and exhausted when we picked them up! We were very sad to move away because it was such a wonderful gift to have found such a caring place for our fur-babies! I recommend them without any hesitation!!!

We have always been a let's-find-a-house-sitter type family. We were in a pinch and River Dogs came to the rescue! We have ditched a house sitter completely now, as our rambunctious golden puppy loves to wrestle and play in their large yard while our small dog hangs out, snuggles and shares kisses with Dina. We highly recommend giving River Dogs a whirl!

Took our Golden to the splash pad night. They had the nicest facility!! So much room for the dogs to run around in, very clean and no broken toys/furniture. My golden had so much fun and I will definitely be signing her up for a day care session.

Great place to take your dog for day care or swim fun. I've taken my bullmastiff to day care and open swim. She lived both and came home tired and happy. Bit expensive buy you're paying for good care of your dog. I really appreciate that they screen your pet and have separation of different temperaments. Open swim in wknds is great and pretty cheap at $10 per dog. I highly recommend and will be back often. They have boarding service too, but I've never used it.

We rented the pool with some dog park friends and had a blast. The staff are very friendly and the pool was ready to have our pack of dogs rage. Some seating provided, bring a towel for yourself and wear clothes you don't mind getting soaked because the dogs will shake all over you!

The staff here is great! Our pup had an amazing day swimming here, we are planning on coming back for daycare :) (And I must say... It's so refreshing to find a place where pitbulls are treated equally!)

I took my dog, Huffy, to the Animal Den for their open swim. She had a blast! All the doggies loved the pool and I got to enjoy some wine while she played. It was a win all around! My only gripe is the admission fee is $10. The fee is reasonable but it does keep us from going as frequently as we would like!

My dog has been going here for daycare 4 days a week for the last year and is so happy and excited whenever we arrive. Previous places we went for daycare I could see him on camera just sitting by the gate wanting to leave, and he was never eager to walk through the door. I think the staff here have gotten to know him and what makes him happy to be there so he feels much more comfortable. They also do cute holiday activities and dogs of the week which are adorable extra touches. Overall it’s been a great experience!

Such nice and caring individuals! They can accommodate almost anything! Very patient and compassionate for not only the fur babies but the fur parents as well! As for my Meeko he is having the time of his life for his first time. He is literally smiling. Great decision to board him here. I would high recommend this place!

Monique is fantastic! I actually found her through Reddit for recommendations from locals. I just moved here from GA so I was worried about leaving my cat Apple because my job requires a lot of travelling. I messaged Monique and we scheduled a meet and greet. Monique came by my apartment where she got the chance to meet Apple. She asked a lot of questions to be thorough of Apple's needs. And this meet and greet gave Apple a chance to see how Monique and I interacted. The meet and greet went well. While I was gone, I received daily pictures and updates about Apple from Monique. It's so reassuring when she sends these updates!

My daughter referred me to Monique when I moved to Sacramento about a year ago and I have utilized her services consistently :) She provides very individualized , caring and attentive care to my 2 cats and tortoise. I can travel stress free, knowing my pets are well taken care of. Monique is a gem!!

We couldn’t be happier with Monique’s diligent care of our kitty, Echo, while we were away! She sent updates and photos every day, and was always easy to reach in case we had any concerns or schedule changes. Highly recommend using Furever Pals Pet Service for all of your pet visits and walks. I have a 17 year old pup, Ellie, and Monique has been nothing but the best to her. It takes Ellie a while to get going and Monique is so patient with her. I love getting picture updates and a review of how she did when Monique takes her for her mid day walk.

Karla’s Pet Care does such a fantastic job! Our pets were frankly a nightmare while we were gone, the cat refused the litter box, the dog kept getting in the pantry and gave herself diarrhea. On top of that we had to keep changing our schedule and they rolled with all of it. They did a great job of keeping us informed while not stressing me out about my pets while I was on vacation. 10/10 highly recommend!

I loved this!! I'm always nervous about people being in my house when I'm not there but after the pre-visit my nerves were put to ease. Karla and Kayla are so nice and professional. Kayla is the one that took care of my fur babies when I was gone. She kept me updated with detailed daily check ins and pictures of them. I loved it and it made me feel so good that they were in great care. On top of all that she brought in my mail and took my garbage cans to the curb! It made a HUGE difference coming home late from a long trip and and not having to clean up cat litter, clean cat barf, or take the cans out etc. Thank you ladies for everything!!!

March 2021 update- Karla and her team continue to provide wonderful care. We started their new poop pickup service and it has been so helpful and convenient. Joe goes above and beyond and has communicated with us actively to address any concerns. I highly recommend! Karla and her team have been caring for our pets whenever we go out of town for over a year. They are easy to work with, friendly, and affordable. My favorite part is receiving an update and pictures of our pups each day during their care, so fun and comforting!

Ashleys is excellent. All three cats receive individual attention and any accidents or medications are professionally and politely dealt with. The on-line appointment and payment system is convenient and easy to use. Out pets are very well cared for while we are away!

I'm a veterinarian who has been using Ashley's pet sitting services consistently for at least five years. She and her team are so reliable! Once when I was traveling in 2018, my house was broken into, and thankfully the dogs were not let out by the burglars. Ashley and her team handled communication beautifully, as well as coordinating with my landlord and the police. I could not have felt more assured from afar that my pets (and my house) were being looked after appropriately. My husband booked a second honeymoon in Cancun and I was anxious. I didn't know what we were going to do about care for our baby, Scarlett. A coworker recommended Ashley's Pawsome Pets and we are so thankful. They are bonded and they are background checked. We had a meet and greet with our sitter. Which I appreciated so much. Our sitter, Amanda, was absolutely wonderful. She came twice a day and was so attentive to Scarlett. I couldn't have asked for better! She is amazing! My favorite thing is they have a journal with pictures so you know everything that happens with your fur baby. My only con would be the extra fees that aren't 100% transparent. The service is pricey, (but worth it), however, when I went to pay the bill, there was an added fee for administration and then again for credit cards (which I use for security.,) I'm willing to pay whatever is needed for the care of my pet, but it was a tad surprising. Thar said, they are amazing snd we love Amsnda! We will be using them again in the future! The service is outstanding!! The attached pictures are from Amanda's very detailed journals!

We have used Ashley's Pawsome Pet sitting for every single vacation we've taken the past year and greatly appreciate the services of her staff. As someone prone to worrying, the pet journals and photos her sitters take and send daily are wonderful. While I have only had two different sitters, they are always kind, professional, and follow instructions well. I feel like my cat is in good hands when I hire a pet sitter through her.

We have left two different dogs in Ashley's care. Each time, we had so much confidence about how they were faring while we were traveling (in large part because Ashley sends pictures showing how comfortable and happy they are in her home; she sends sweet messages, too). Every aspect of the visit went exactly as planned; her website is easy to use and very informative. All in all, a very professional transaction with a very loving caregiver.

Our 2 black kitties are our pride and joy and we hate to leave them but now, in our retirement years, we are finally able to travel. After asking neighbors to feed our kitties, we tried Ashleys Pawsome and are VERY happy! We can schedule half-hour or longer sessions which include feeding, catbox cleaning and playing with our furry kids. Maybe better are the timely and thorough 'journal reports' we receive after each visit! We're told hew our pets are, and what services were rendered. Let the vacations continue!

Ashley was wonderful with our 3 dogs and cat for the two days we were away. She sent me pics of all of them each time she visited them during the day and I can say, they looked really happy! We've never left them before, so this was a fantastic experience for us, but mainly our dogs enjoyed her so much as well! Will for sure use your services in the future.

Honestly I feel so comfortable dropping my dogs off with Geo! It doesn’t feel like my dogs are being boarded, it feels like I’m dropping them off to stay with a family friend. My dogs are very social and love to play and they always come home acting super happy and I’ve tried leaving them at a WAG hotel before and they were struggling. It’s so homey and in a safe little cul de sac which makes me more comfortable. She is super understanding and flexible!

I boarded my beloved Archie for the first time at Geo's house. She was so amazing and attentive with my boy!I was updated and given photos and videos. She had very good communication. She threw a doggy pawty for Archie's birthday and took fantastic photos and even baked him his own birthday cake! I will absolutely be boarding Archie here again!

I dropped my dog off to Geo’s and I couldn’t be happier! When I picked him up, he was playing with the other dogs and didn’t want to leave! I will bring him back again!

Don’t waste your time. Doesn’t return text messages or calls. We are. Going to visit our Son for a few days. So My husband took our 2 dogs to check out her place. He decided to book with her (Geo) after getting the fee straightened out and we’ve been calling & texting to see when we could drop off a full payment. She has yet to respond and it’s been 2 weeks. We’re booking with someone else. She gets the 1 star for allowing the visit. Unprofessional & unreliable.

Called to set up a day boarding for the next week, set up a day for behavior assessment. Showed up to property at requested time, wouldn’t answer door and ignored texts and phone calls. Very unhappy. Very unprofessional. Not recommended.

Chelsea knows everything there is to know about dogs. She’s been a trainer, a vet tech and more. She’s truly passionate about animals, especially dogs, and it shows. When your pet stays with Chelsea she treats it like her own. She’s been helping watch and train my Boxer Blu since we got him as a puppy. He’s aggressive around other dogs with me but not with Chelsea — he’s perfectly behaved because she knows dogs personalities and what to watch for. She’s not only watched him when we were out of town (sending pictures of him playing with other dogs, water play on hot days, sleeping on her bed with her dogs), but she’s offered me training and veterinary tips for free! His excitement when we see her says it all — I love not having to worry when we’re out of town because he’s in the best care. Would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Chelsea for anyone who wants quiet care for their pet. It’s definitely worth the drive to her place.

I used to be a loyal customer and highly recommended them, but I unfortunately can no longer support them after having a deeper understanding of their protocols. Before getting into the worst of it, I'd like to point out that they have astro turf which unsurprisingly causes dogs' feet to get irritated on hot days. In their report cards, they will simply say they noticed they were getting irritated and treated them, but probably won't tell you why unless you ask. I started as a client with my husky Freya. Unfortunately she died in their care due to unknown causes. Their story was she was outside and started having irregular breathing, so they took her inside where she collapsed and died. She was 9 and had glaucoma, so I gave them the benefit of the doubt even though she was otherwise a healthy dog who had no problems going on 3-5mile runs with me when the weather wasn't too hot. Looking back, maybe I should have been more skeptical. When I got another husky mix, Loki, I started boarding him there and he loved it. However after a little over a year of boarding him there with no major issues other than being an overly enthusiastic husky puppy, he developed a food aggression issue while in their care. Freya had some food aggression issues when I first got her and I have taken care of multiple dogs with the problem before, so I am very well educated on prevention and training for it. When I asked about their feeding protocols, they stated that they simply drop the food in front of the dog, leave the room for an hour, and then come back in to take it away to get pressure washed whether there is food left or not. When Loki first demonstrated food aggression, their response was to attempt to remove the bowl with their foot or a fake prosthetic hand. This is textbook what not to do and will absolutely CAUSE AND INTESIFY food aggression. When I pointed this out and suggested that they should implement standard sit/stay feeding protocol, use redirection techniques, or to not try to take the food bowl away while the dog is still in the room, their response was essentially that they don't have time to do that and don't want to train their staff in standard dog handling practices. They even commented that past customers have suggested the same thing. This tells me that they are entirely aware that their protocols can cause food aggression and that they refuse to do anything about it. Apart from this incident, Loki seemed to love all the workers I saw him interact with. They all looked on the younger side, but they were extremely friendly and positive. I just wish the owners cared enough to train them better.

From my work account 3 years ago: I have a Husky mix who’s a handful, mindful but energetic. The staff have always been patient and loving towards Luna. I feel blessed to live close enough to use Local Bark. Last year I traveled almost 70% of the time for work. Amazing staff. Reasonable prices. All types of services from Daycare and Boarding, to Grooming, to Day Training, Boarding School, and Puppy Prep School. THEY EVEN HAVE A WALK-IN POOL MADE SPECIAL FOR THE DOGS!! Large & Small Dogs are welcome, as well as PITBULL FRIENDLY!!! You can tell the staff LOVE dogs, and genuinely care about what they do. Very trustworthy, welcoming, and easy to leave your pets with. The girls at the front desk and attentive and polite, and make things like checking-in your dog, or providing any information needed about the business easy. I highly recommend The Local Bark for all your Dog Care, Boarding, Grooming, Training, and occasional swimming needs!

Our dog has a great time at Local Bark... always comes home happy and tired. It's awesome that they have a pool that he can enjoy, one of the reasons I picked Local Bark in the first place. The facilities appear to be very clean and the staff are always nice. Oh, and they post pictures every day on their facebook page... so it's fun to see what your dog has been up to. Definitely recommend!

We love the Local Bark! Our dog has been coming here since she was a puppy ( she is now 9! ). We don’t use it as often as we did in the past as their prices have gone up, but when we need care for her overnight this is our go to place. They have different sized “rooms” for the dogs to stay, all day play time out back and offer grooming services as well. Our dog is happy here!

There is nothing that excites our yellow lab, Austin, more than going to the Local Bark. I usually take Austin to the Local Bark, but the first time my husband took him he passed the turn to go in to the Local Bark. Immediately Austin started barking and vocalizing. We are sure he was saying, "Dad, you missed it! You missed it! Turn around! Turn around now!! Austin just graduated from their 18 day in house training. Ivyonnne is a great trainer and Austin has made great strides in his obedience and self control. The Local Bark is an absolutely wonderful place for dogs. Austin gives it five paws up.

My puppy is very energetic and needs to socialize more with doggy friends. This was his first day at his evaluation. It made my day when I saw his picture, he looks happy and looks like he's smiling. He was happy and very tired when I picked him up because he must have played a lot. I will definitely take him on a regular basis.

Editing my review after picking up my dog.I'm so happy I found a good boarding facility! The local bark is definitely a five-star place. My big mush of a pitbull really enjoyed her 13 night stay here over Christmas!I love the pictures I got to see on Facebook of her enjoying herself. I picked her up and she was so happy and clean, they gave her a bath for me. She's practically dancing in the waiting room while we were leaving. I like that the local bark has the most rigorous vaccine requirements in the areabecause my dog came home very healthy so I appreciate it! Also not much more expensive than any place around it's affordable in my opinion and they provide trusting and safe care for your dogs. Highly recommended I will definitely use again!

Chloe has been going to the Local Bark since she was 16 weeks old. She loves all the attention she gets from the staff and has a blast with the other dogs during Play Care and Overnight visits. Love them.
