I highly recommend Niki and Up North Pet Service! The level of care, the reporting, the daily photos and communication is excellent and well appreciated. I take great comfort in knowing when I'm away that Kitty Gato is well taken care of. My kitty loves Niki too! I especially love receiving the photos of when she is napping on Niki's lap. :-)

We were new customers and on fairly short notice Niki was able to meet our pets and then care for them for several nights. We were able to enjoy the holidays without worry thanks to her excellent service. It was incredibly affordable and our cats were quite happy! I would recommend her to anyone, and will be a repeat customer!

Frieda loves to have Niki visit, and we get pictures so see just how happy they are. Niki has been able to accommodate some schedule changes due to family emergencies which is greatly appreciated. The whole family, including Frieda, is so very happy that we found Niki's Up North Pet Service.

Niki is great! She takes excellent care of my dog and sends a report at the end of each visit so that I know how much fun they had. Niki provides a variety of services which has been beneficial when various things come up at work and I need someone to drop in on my dog or run her to the vet. She is reliable, great at communicating, and loves each animal as if they were her own. I cannot recommend Niki's Up North Pet Service enough!

Niki at Up North Pet Service provided a clean, pet friendly, home-like environment for my Bernese Mountain dog, Quincy while we were away. We have never left him for this long and were worried about how our lovable dog would react. Thankfully, almost every day, she shared pictures or videos of Quincy playing or eating, which eased our minds and confirmed how well she was taking care of him. Niki was great about making sure he had his medications as needed. I would highly recommend Niki and UP North Pet Service to anyone in need of kenneling services in the northern Michigan area.

Niki did a wonderful job taking care of our 2 year old border collie! We were in a pinch with last minute cancellations from others and Niki took us right in! Her kennel was very clean and organized and she kept us up to date on our pup’s progress!

Niki is always available to watch our animals. Even with short notice. She goes above and beyond every time. I love that she checks in when she arrives and always leaves a little note about what she does and what my pets are doing. I also love the pictures that she sends while she is here. My dogs absolutely love her and her toys/treats. I never have to worry if they are taken care of. She doesn’t just let them out and rush them back in. She really takes her time and lets them run off their energy. Her prices are very reasonable. I am so glad that we have someone we can trust with our animals and in our home. Niki deserves 5+ stars for her communication, dependability, passion and affordability. She sends detailed messages with pictures after each visit that makes you feel comfortable being away from your best friend. Her pricing is fair and she explains it in depth with options. I reccomend Niki to anyone wanting the best care for your pet while you're gone even if that's to check on them at lunch time. Thanks Niki for making life easy for me and Myles!

We appreciate Nikki taking care of our two kitties. She sends us pictures and updates everytime she checks on them. She seems knowledgeable about pet care and responds to text messages quickly. We have used her pet sitting service two times so far and both times went well.

I've taken my puppy here for two training classes, and he just had his first daycare session today as well. Everyone at Happy Dog Acres is super friendly and genuinely cares about the dogs. The training program is really fun and top notch, and Cosmo had a total riot in daycare today. Kudos to everyone at this facility, I cannot recommend it enough

There's a reason it's called Happy Dog Acres! My pup jumps out of the car to go see her friends and has an awesome time every time we bring her! Kelly & the girls take great care of her...not a single worry when she's there!!

I have two very energetic German shorthair pointers. One with Addison disease, the other is still recovering from a traumatic injury approx 1 yr ago. (Severed achilles tendon and repair) she has some pretty bad separation anxiety. However, with the love and care of the staff at happy dog acres they both were happy healthy upon pickup. It was our first good kennel experience. We will definitely be going back! They helped ease my anxiety as we were going out of state by sending photos of them playing in the yard! Fabulous job all around!

My boy Luke loves spending time at Happy dog acres, even if it's for the day or a night or two. He has a lot of room to run and my who is a coonhound definitely needs it. Kelly and the girls are absolutely wonderful with all the dogs and keep them very safe.

Kelly and James are wonderful! Very knowledgeable and truly love the dogs in their care. Their staff are well trained and professional. The dogs have a lot of room to play, and the training is the best we've seen. We wouldn't consider taking our dogs anywhere else. Highly recommend!!

The owner seemed nice but there are a lot of issues with this daycare/kennel. Firstly when I arrived to drop off my dog to do a short 2 hour trial, I was told to wait outside in my car. No one is allowed in the buildings, and you don’t even know what building your dog will be in. It looks like a house on the property and then a big barn, but it’s unclear what type of set up is inside. I understand if they don’t want dogs to get upset with strangers coming and going, but there should be an area customers can go in to drop off without other dogs seeing you. I was very uneasy about not knowing what the set up was like inside. And having to wait outside. The couple people that were working seemed to stare at me like I was some intruder, only one of the staff was welcoming. Wasn't very happy with the set up. No indoor play areas, the staff has to leash walk the dogs to the outdoor play areas (very unsafe practice), there is a large amount of trash just lying around like wood pieces with nails sticking out, and unsafe building structures on the property. Will not be going back.

We recently adopted a rescue puppy. The training, tips and individualized attention have been an immense help in dealing with her issues. I highly recommend Kelly and the crew at Happy Dog Acres.

We rarely need to board our dogs, but our son was getting married in Northern Michigan and we found Happy Dog Acres. Could not have been a better experience! We received photos of our dogs and an update while they were there, which we greatly appreciated. I highly recommend this caring place!!

What is the one thing we worry about when dropping off our loved ones is how well they are going to be taken care, well I will tell you this that this place is great. She was very nice and informative and uses environmental friendly shampoos. If you google the direction be aware that yes the main road has a dead end sign but the parlors road isnthe first one. The sign is blocked by a tree. The parlor is on the right side of the road which is part haous and parlor. TEXTING is the best way to get ahold of her.

Jan did a excellent with both of my long haired Doxies. This was the first time that they went to a groomer & it was wonderful experience for my girls.

My dog came back so terrified. And had cuts all over. I was thankful for the squeeze in due to a cancellation but perhaps we should have waited for our regular groomer at home. I wish I could post pics.

Our nervous pup got an excellent cut and was calm and resting when we went to pick her up! Our normal groomer had to pause business for a while, so we took our miniature schnauzer to Northern Tails on a family recommendation and may make this our normal place even through it's a few hours from home!

Excellent job grooming my dog, Gizmo. Took longer than I expected, but next time I will plan on doing some shopping and dining while waiting for Gizmo to be groomed.

Jan is very caring and listens carefully. The dogs are always happy after a few hours at Northern Tails pet grooming!

Dawn was supper nice! Came in 4 a nail trim. Walked in then walked out she was really quick my dog faught me an my spouse 4 hrs the day before we gave up. Her he just chilled like it was nothing. She was a pro 4 sure had that dog whisper vibe haha 5bucks still blowing my mind.. Fast not expensive at all but service top notch will be going back 4 sure and you should go as well!

Dawn is so great with my dog. He is always so handsome and looks wonderful when she's finished with him. If I need him to have a nail trim between grooming appts it's a walk in. 5.00 nail trim!! She's great. Whenever we travel this way she grooms him. She's busy so call ahead to make a grooming appointment.

Our dogs have had the great luck of having Dawn for their groomer and friend. She has been there for all of our dogs since the day she opened up. She has taken wonderful care of 2 Goldens and now a Great Pyrenees. She is almost one of the family. All our dogs LOVE to visit Dawn, and they are gorgeous after their visit. Waited over 2 months to get my Aussie in and after 3 years I have found the groomer! Best cut yet and less than an hr couldn’t be happier and his rear end looks great which on an Ausshole is not easy. Ty for the great job 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 …

I took our new dog in recently to see Dawn to get his nails clipped. When we adopted him we received notes from a previous vet visit that described them having to relax him with drugs in order to clip his nails. Dawn was done clipping his nails in no time with no trouble at all. Little Bit will definitely be a return customer!

I was incredibly impressed with my dog's toenail trimming today. The groomer confidently handled my sensitive dog, and it was over within a minute or two! Can't beat the price, either!

Dawn has a very nice set up. Our Dog Loves it. We are usually concerned since she is a Rottweiler and people often react before knowing the pet.. However Dawn was Fantastic

They do a good job on my elderly chihuahuas nails and anal glands, and their prices are very reasonable.

Excellent nail trimmer. Always greets my dog with smile and conversation. Which is very important for my dog as she has very high anxiety. Wouldn't go anywhere else!!

We have used many different kennels over the years. There have been good, just okay and terrible ones. You always worry that your pet is going to be locked up in a cage for the duration of your absence and given the most basic amount of attention. These guys are different. They send you pictures of your dog playing with other dogs and give them snuggles and attention. They love what they do and you can tell. They have even helped us give our dog medication. Can't say enough good things about them.

Ed and Laura are the best! Just like sending the Kids to camp! We have 3 dogs and they all absolutely loved it here. A home away from home for sure. They had a blast with the other dogs. Thank you so very much.

Laura and Ed were so nice and friendly, and even tho Hannah really didn't really want to be there, I felt she was in good hands. They were able to let her out often, and she apparently "hung out" with their dogs. Much better there than at home alone when we have to be away. Thanks for giving me peace of mind!

These are the best people EVER! They not only care about the fur babies ,they care about the human's . I highly recommend this place no matter if it's for a few hours, Over night or weekend getaway they will take great car of your fur babies!

Jared is excellent! He's watched my dogs a few times and has completely eliminated any worries I have about traveling without them. He is ridiculously fast to respond to texts and the pictures he sends during their stay are nice reassurances that they are happy and doing well. He's got a nice fenced-in yard and his dog Charlie has been playful and kind to my small dogs. It's seriously crazy to me how fast he is to respond to texts. Your dog(s) is/are in great hands with Jared!

Jared and Charlie were great. We came up to Traverse for a long weekend with our Basset Gus and knew that there would be some places that we wouldn't be able to take him. We didn't want to leave him in a strange place in his crate all by himself. I found TC Tails/Jared's info online and contacted him. He is very responsive and was very accommodating. We only did drop-in for the one day for about 5 hours so we could go to lunch and do some shopping. Jared was very flexible with the times. Gus was very nervous at first but Jared sent me a video of him and Charlie running and playing in the yard. I felt so much better. He had so much fun playing and slept really good when we got back to the cottage. I would absolutely recommend Jared for boarding and definitely would take Gus there again. Thank you again Jared and Charlie!

Absolutely thrilled with my recent dog boarding experience! Jared was fantastic with my golden retriever during the three days he stayed. He provided plenty of love, playtime, and attention, making my pup feel right at home. I couldn't have asked for a better caretaker—highly recommend! Five stars!

Jared was great! His communication was wonderful and flexibility much appreciated. He has a great fenced in yard that I know our dogs enjoyed very much as they are never really on leash. One of our dogs has recently developed severe anxiety while at a kennel and I was worried that Jared might have an issue but he handled everything very well and said she was not stressed at all while with him!

If you need pet sitting or dog boarding in Traverse City, TC Tails & Jared is the best! Jared was wonderful on all aspects. We had some interesting travel plans that changed a couple times and Jared was very accommodating from the start. He's very communicative and friendly. Our 2 huskies stayed at his house for 5 days, he has a perfect backyard set-up for dogs, fully fenced in (huskies are escape artists) that was very secure and he seemed to let them find their spots inside as they wanted when it was time to rest. Our dogs are used to finding comfy spots around the house and Jared let them treat his home like it was what they were used to. We got picture and video updates along the way letting us know how they were doing. Jareds dog Charlie was super sweet and you can tell he loves all people and dogs, our boys loved being around him and even got one of our dogs that doesn't play/socialize much to play with him. It made us very happy with our choice to use Jared for our boarding needs, couldn't recommend him more. We've had hit or miss experiences with pet sitters and dog boarding in the past, Jared is the best by far. Thank you!

My dog is terrified around men. Jared definitely went above and beyond, making sure she felt comfortable around him, and making sure I felt comfortable leaving her. She felt right at home in no time and that alone speaks volumes. I cannot recommend Jared enough!

Jared was awesome!! He was super flexible with meeting up beforehand and accommodating to my plans as my times for pick up and drop off shifted a bit. This was my second time leaving Rory with a dog sitter and I know she was in good hands. He texted updates and kept in touch. She has been sleeping since we got home so I know she had a blast and played hard😁 Jared (and Charlie) were amazing and I’ll definitely be booking with him again.

Jared and Charlie are great! We have a 10 month old Doberman. This was our first time leaving her. We stopped over prior to staying to see if it would be a good fit and she loved it!! She’s an extremely high energy dog and she was well taken care of for her 1 night stay! Jared sent updates and videos which was great!

Jared was wonderful and trustworthy, taking such good care of Tala (husky- mini bulldog mix) while we stayed at Great Wolf Lodge. Tala had a lot of fun with friendly Charlie and playing chase in Jared’s big backyard. Jared’s communication was great and booking, drop off, and pick up were easy and convenient too. Highly recommend Jared and would definitely do again!

Jared is a trusted sitter for our funny, kinda anxious, 5-pound chihuahua, Elliott. I was initially a bit nervous to leave Elliott at home but Jared was super communicative and attentive to E’s needs at every check-in. Provided great photos too! I recommend.

Julie was absolutely amazing!! She has watched my dog, kitties and rabbit while I was out of town. My dog has been a little fearful to new faces but he LOVED her!! She gave a tremendous amount of needed feedback to help the family understand him and give him what he needs. So far beyond thankful for her and what she offers. Julie provided in-home enrichment activities, company, and exercise for our dog and two kitties (one with special needs), and sent us daily furry family updates as she stayed at our home to care for our animal companions! Her caring, dedication and sincere concern for their well being enabled us to enjoy our time away knowing that our animals were receiving the very best attention and care. She also attended to mail, plants, and other house tasks as we requested. Julie was fantastic!!!

Julie spent the weekend spoiling our two Labradoodles. They were loved and so well cared for that leaving them with her, was a stress free experience. Julie’s passion for animals shines through in her personal care and safety of our dogs. We had a wonderful experience, as did our pups, and will definitely be calling “Aunt Julie” again!

I would like to take this opportunity to say what an absolute pleasure it was having Julie take care of my cat Lucy. She did an absolutely glorious job and way exceeded my expectations. She would send me daily pictures or videos. She and Lucy would have spa days! She literally gave Lucy attention 24 seven and it was such a pleasure knowing that my cat was in excellent hands. I have left my separation anxiety filled German Shepard with Selena on several occasions. He was very well adjusted and calm when I picked him up which is a great indication of the great attention he received while in Selena's care. The photo updates where wonderful as well. I highly recommend her!
