My dog loves his visits, getting excited as soon as we turn down the road towards it, and comes home nice and exhausted. Definitely recommend for our four legged friends, they have so much fun and this is great value for a day worth of fun!

Amazing couple run these kennels. They looked after our Springer Spaniel so well. Were very welcoming and showed us in where he was staying.Very spacious and clean. This is our favoured dog hotel whenever we're out of town. Longest stay has been two weeks. Dog always seems happy and usually comes home freshly washed and sweet smelling. Grant & Merle also accommodate cats

Lovely couple run this kennel. They are happy for you to collect your pet outside of collection times without charging you for another full day (unlike Paws n Claws) and also pleasant (unlike Paws n Claws staff). Would highly recommend.

Grant and Merle have looked after my girl Sal since she was a pup. They love her like their own. I wouldnt take her anywhere else. She goes to them excited to see them and always comes home happy.

Little Legs Lodge caters for the needs of little ones. They can mix with other friends inside or outside in the grounds. There are comfy couches and beds. Their food needs are catered too and they get lots of love and attention from caring staff.

Andrea and her team have an amazing set up close to home, and we felt very comfortable and reassured knowing our Sebastian was in good hands. It was his first time in a cattery and we anticipated he may be a bit shy and scared, but upon collection we were very comforted knowing that even though he was shy, the Belt Road Cattery team went out of their way to make Sebastian as comfortable as possible during his stay. We look forward to dealing with them again in the new year. Beautiful set up, clean and tidy - we will be recommending to our friends and family. Thanks again! :-)

Looked after my cat Azreal for me when I went away. He can be a little shy and likes company and they did great. He's happy and healthy and I will go back for certain if I go away again

Andrea is incredible, caring, compassionate - and clearly an animal lover in her own right. I received top quality and very caring service. She went above and beyond my expectations! Every time I walked in there I knew my cats (who are my angels) were loved and treated with the respect they deserve. As a Veterinarian myself I appreciate Andreas thoroughness and efficiency, I knew they were in good hands. Very clean, professional and pro-active regarding your cats needs and communication with you as the client. I trust Andrea and appreciate her care. Highly recommend!

This is an amazing place, we feel so reassured that our fur baby will be very well cared for. the place is so clean and well kept, the staff really care. I'm completely shocked that there is a 1 star review with no justification, I can't see that this can be a genuine review. We dropped by to see out little fluster and she is doing so well, Andrea has worked so hard to make sure that the cats are comfortable and feel secure.

Absolutley cannot recommend Belt Road Cattery enough! Andrea has taken care of our cat, Ollie, for the 3rd time this year and we couldn’t be happier with the high standard of care he has received. Andrea‘s 16 year experience as RSPCA inspector and manager really show in the attention of detail she has put into her cattery. The rooms are clean and even feature an outdoor area! Ollie had a great time and he‘ll be back for another visit soon.

I had been looking for a cattery when I saw Belt Road Cattery on Facebook, and thought I would ring and enquire. Andrea had all the answers and was so pleasant to deal with. I booked in Nala the same day and I’m so happy I made that choice. Andrea was so easy to deal with regarding bringing in Nala’s special diet, and made me feel so at ease knowing she was in a safe environment. Nala can be quite the drama queen and our first visit would have been the first time she had been left anywhere, and Andrea made us feel at home before we left, showing us all the rooms and telling us all about the different cats she had staying with her at the time. Andrea knows all the cats so well and when we got in the car to leave we knew Nala was in a loving environment. It’s so clean and really homely with lots of fun toys and outside areas. We often refer to it as Nala’s Cat Hotel! We would never take Nala anywhere else now!

We absolutely love Beks and everything that Dogs by Beks stands for. Luna, our nearly 4 year old (mixed bully) has gone from strength to strength under Beks’ amazing guidance. Luna looks forward to her walk with Beks and her pack every week. We have noticed a huge change in her confidence, calmness and her ability to regulate herself in different environments. Beks is a wealth of knowledge, which she generously shares with us. She has an amazing way with dogs and humans, and treats Luna as an extension of her family. Beks takes them to various locations which has been great for Luna and continues to foster and work on the basics with her (when needed) to ensure Luna is checked in and understands what is expected of her. We have never felt so safe with someone looking after Luna and can’t recommend Beks highly enough!

We have been so fortunate to have our Sproodle Hazel with Dogs by Beks for the last couple of years. Since she has been with Beks on weekly adventures, we have noticed a massive difference in Hazel’s manners and her confidence. We also have benefited so much by Beks sharing her knowledge of dog behaviour and training to help navigate tricky behaviours. Beks is amazing, and gives helpful, practical, non-judgmental advice on management tips we can practice at home to help Hazel grow in confidence and meet expectations. Hazel absolutely loves her weekly adventures and we love helping her live her best life. She comes home happy and tired after a day playing with her pack mates and spending time with her bestie Beks. She treats all the dogs like part of her family. It’s clear she not only loves her role, she excels in it too. You won’t find a nicer, kinder or more skilled professional dog walker/trainer. Highly recommended!

Beks takes my girl Bowie on her adventure walks and she is just so good with her! It can take a while for Bowie to warm up to people but she has definitely come to love Beks and going on her weekly trips. I can’t believe she can get so many dogs to sit still for such cute pics either!!. Appreciate you and your skills Beks! If you need an excellent dog walker or some training for your dog Beks is it!

Beks is SO good at what she does, we feel like we’ve made so much progress with our labradoodle Raffy over the last year. Raffy now walks loose leash as a default and we have much more confidence and control taking her out and about off leash. Beks has helped us with tips to regulate Raffy’s full on energy which has been especially important with a little one joining our fam! Highly recommend Beks, she is super professional, friendly and genuinely cares. Raffy comes home exhausted after her weekly adventure and we love seeing the daily updates of what the pups got up too!

We were so lucky to have an online session with Beks after we got our new border collie cross puppy Bowie. Her depth of understanding meant she could help us navigate some of the trickier parts of puppy ownership with clear advice and practical tips, and her knowledge has given us the confidence to be able to support Bowie’s natural BC instincts. We feel better equipped to set up a really strong relationship with Bowie and a solid foundation for ongoing training. Although we’ve had dogs before we knew with a new breed we’d be keen to get the help of an expert and we were so pleased we did. Thank you so much Beks your help was invaluable and it’s all going super well!

So many of my colleagues recommended Dogs By Beks that I contacted her to get my puppy on the waiting list before he even arrived. I love the one-on-one training sessions that Barlow started with before he joined the pack walks. Each week, he builds on his essential social skills with other dogs, thanks to Beks' experience and coaching. He's becoming a better listener, more focused, and growing in confidence. Beks has done wonderful things for my border collie (Poppy). She builds the pack up slowly and has great control over the dogs. Her professionalism is outstanding! Always communicates well, including if she was running a bit late. The time my dog has spent with Beks she has become more calm and more responsive to my commands. I especially liked the dog-dog interaction that she promotes too. Sadly she is no longer in my region, so a loss for us but a gain for you! Highly recommended!!!!

Beks spent time with us workng with our 6 month old miniature schnauzer to teach good methods for walking, listening and being calm. This was an amazing time and so incredibly important to get the basics right. Beks is warm, friendly and our dog loved her within 2 minutes of meeting her. Beks is amazing, we call her the dog whisperer! We had Beks come to our home when our pup was only about 12 weeks old to teach us how to train her. It was so helpful! When Marley was old enough she went on weekly adventures with Beks and our new boy Ted joined the pack while Marley was unwell. Our dogs are so respectful and calm thanks to Beks’ training. Vets and groomers can’t believe they’re still only pups because they’re so well behaved! We can’t thanks Beks enough, our labradoodles miss her! ❤️

Wonderful couple own this cattery. They truly care about the cats they look after. Our elderly cat, normally quite nervous, was relaxed and happy when we picked her up. I would definitely recommend Puss 'N' Boots

Our beautiful cat Chewy stayed at Puss 'N' Boots in February of this year. The place in spotlessly clean and they have a large caged outdoor area for the cats to play and get to know each other. David and Raema are very kind and biddable and the price is very affordable. The cats are fed whatever they would normally eat at home so no stress having to get used to different food. Chewy was very relaxed when we picked him up and we will certainly be using Puss 'N' Boots again. :)

Our cat Saffy is very well taken care of here. She loves Abbie, and the whole place is beautifully clean, and kept nice and warm. As an old lady, Saffy gets a cosy blanket. I can highly recommend this cattery to all.

It's always a good indicator when the doggos WANT to go visit the kennels. They know that "going on a trip" means going to Paws & Claws... While cleaning the car the other day (doors open) "you're going on a 'trip' soon" - so they hopped into the car and would not get out until we'd been for a "trip" up the drive and back. They never have any hesitation hopping out when we get to the site. They love it and my wife and I always know they are in good hands. Thanks Tracey and Billy. Bronwyn & Vince.

We have three dogs that need a place to stay whenever we head away to see family and we are so happy we found Paws & Claws Kennels and Cattery. The team are absolutely amazing with our dogs and the dogs love going. Could not recommend highly enough!

The best of the best, so much care given to your pets. Dogs spend plenty of time outside with other dogs of a similar temperament and size and cats have a state of the art facility to spend a relaxing stay in. Highly recommend this awesome kennel and cattery ran by amazing people!

I was BLOCKED by Paws and Claws before I could post a review on their Facebook which is extremely telling. If they don't believe they're wrong they wouldn't have tried to prevent this feedback. I hate having to do this. If you know me, you know I'm a small business owner (also in the dog industry) and a dog lover and I would never leave a negative review for a small business if I didn't feel it was necessary. My dogs Harley and Dent and cat Castle stayed at Paws and Claws Kennels and Cattery over labour weekend for four days. When my husband picked them up, he was met with Dent having a swollen eye. This was apparently noticed and treated by the owners of the kennel around breakfast time. My husband picked up our pets at 9:30am. We had not been notified of an injury to Dents eye prior to pick up. Having had experience with an eye injury caused by a grass seed in the past - we know how dangerous this could have been. To not call us immediately so we could take immediate action was unacceptable. We took Dent to the vet immediately and she was diagnosed with injury to the eye, caused by trauma. This resulted in swelling of the conjunctival tissue which caused green pus. She needed steroids, drops and thorough examination. The kennel owner has indicated she believes the conjunctivitis is a recurring problem for dent - she has had conjunctivitis in the past absolutely - but not for years. This green pus was caused by the injury. Happening along side this, our other dog Harley was stiff and sore in her back end. I believed she was lame in one leg. I contacted Paws and Claws to question both their lack of communication about Dents injury and the potential injury to Harley. After that email was sent Wednesday evening, Harley started having explosive diarrhoea. She has been diagnosed as contracting a gastro bug. She has needed antibiotics, and gut binding medication. I sent another email to Paws and Claws, after they responded taking zero responsibility for their lack of communication around dents injury. I clarified in this email that Harley was not lame like I originally thought, she was sick. This next email included the vet invoices and the clinician notes. We have paid $564 dollars in the 4 days since picking our dogs up from the care of Paws and Claws. We believe we are due compensation, however they have refused to refund our kenneling fees. I did not ask them to pay the full vet bills - I am aware there are risks associated with kenneling services, but this situation has far exceeded that. I have come home from the one single trip we take each year, to one sick dog and one injured dog. I trusted that this business would take care of our dogs - and I believe my dogs were fed (our own food we provided), watered and exercised - but they have received an injury and picked up a gatsro bug in the care of this business. I would never expect to come home to this. My dogs have been kenneled for years and have never had a problem anywhere else. I'm sharing this information, because this situation calls into question the kennels hygiene practices, and policies on injuries and immediate contact to owners if your dog is injured. I'm aware the kennels take no responsibility for any of this and unfortunately that means I have to place the appropriate feedback which in this case is a negative review. Thanks for reading.

Love this place, great people and take very good care of my fur babies

We sent our dog Rosie here for the first time because we have other family that use this kennel. She is a nervous dog who can struggle with new places and people which I explained. I was not happy at all with the drop off. While I was filling out the paperwork she was leashed up and taken away, we never got a chance to give her some love before we left. We were also not allowed to go out the back to see where she would be housed or the facility's. When I picked her up they told me she had a sore foot which they had only noticed that morning but had other wise been happy. I'm not convinced this is true as when she seen me she started whimpering which she has never done and was in such a state. Her foot was much worse then they had let on and she has come home very unsettled. I wont be using this kennel again.

Best Kennels & Cattery in Taranaki, awesome staff lovely to deal with. They also offer pet cremation too which was amazing when my dog passed. Happy to always support this local business.

100% recommend. My dog was a first timer at paws and claws for a full groom. Jack on arrival was anxious as he usually is with a groom. When I picked him up, not only was he relaxed and happy, he had the best haircut he has ever had (hes 5 and gets a groom every 6-10 weeks). A big thank you! He will be coming back 😁🐶❤ …

Our dog absolutely loves Smart Rd Retreat. He’s had many stays varying from one night to nearly three weeks. When we drop him off he squeals with excitement like a piglet and runs in without looking back! This is a photo from one of his stays with Diane, Chris and the team. They are caring and professional - especially considering our dog’s food comes frozen. They always make sure he’s got some defrosted and ready for the next meal. We never have to worry when he’s there, unlike previously when we took him elsewhere.
