Can not recommend Barking Mad enough, Alison was so helpful, kind and reassuring throughout the whole process. The communication was excellent and I felt confident that my boys would be well looked after. Our host had obviously cared very much for our dogs and they were clearly happy in the picture updates we got and when they arrived home. This was our first experience with Barking Mad but will be booking again next year. Thank you so very much I felt that I could relax on holiday especially with the emails to keep me updated.

Having used barking Mad I wouldn't be happy to leave my dog anywhere else. My dog Molly always has an amazing holiday staying with her host family and we always looking forward to reading about what she got up to! Frustratingly, she hasn't had the best year health wise and Alison has always found perfect hosts who have been able to cater to her specific needs. Alison provides a first rate service every time. I love Barking Mad.

Julie is great,totally put our mind at rest going off on holiday and is professional and friendly and obviously passionate about dogs. Wesley has had a great time with his hosts Pam & Graham and receiving the lovely feedback from them made our day and we hope they will be available for future stays. We have been using Barking Mad for a couple of years and will continue to as it's a great idea and a service that both us and Wesley love. Totally reccomend.

My 10 year old beagle Izzy recently had her second stay with Barking Mad and this time was hosted by Gill and Alan. The booking process with Alison was once again very friendly and professional and it was very reassuring that Izzy was being cared for in a home from home environment! She clearly had a wonderful stay as she arrived home looking great and very happy. Thank you Gill for taking good care of Izzy!

I tried my dog in kennels but she came back a nervous wreck so when I was going on holiday I was recommended Barking Mad as an alternative. The whole process was fantastic. Hetty came back in a relaxed and happy state and had clearly had a great time with her host. I was given a lovely letter telling me everything she'd been doing. I would highly recommend Alison and Barking Mad.

We've used Barking Mad for several years and trust them implicitly. However on this last holiday, the service, support and assistance was simply outstanding. Teddy had been unwell with eye problems, we pre-agreed the treatment plan before we went ...it was followed to the letter, and on our return the little chap was better....it was like have a new car delivered on our return! So many thanks to Daphne (Florence Nightingale), Alison and Jean !

As a host this past year I would like to say how much we enjoy having our holiday dogs to stay such fun and dog walking great for exercise! Alison who runs Barking Mad is a really caring person and always manages to match the dog to the host .We love every minute of it.

Best Place in Cumbria for dog care and boarding. Our two absolutely love the place and we couldn’t be happier with the service.

Our dog Peggy regularly goes to Dog Tales and absolutely loves it. The staff are professional, friendly, and reliable. Peggy is always super excited to see the staff. We feel safe in the knowledge that Karen and the staff are looking after her and the other dogs, making sure they have a safe and fun filled day playing in the field and going for walks. Can't recommend them highly enough!

Our dog absolutely loves her weekly visits to Dog Tales, Karen and the girls are so lovely and Peggie loves spending time with them. She always comes home tired after an eventful fun day, highly recommend for socialising your dog.

I hve used Dog Tales Cumbria a few times now. I have always found the staff to be very polite, and the service that we have received to be fantastic. I would recommend anyone to use Dog Tales Cumbria.

Private hire of exercise field for Greyhound, great setup, all hands free and Covid secure - dog loved it.

Biscuit has stayed a few times and is always excited when we go to drop him off, it was Beryl's 1st time staying as she's only 7months old, but she also seemed to enjoy her stay. The family that run the Kennels are lovely and you can tell they all love the dogs, Biscuit and Beryl are looking forward to going back again next week 🐶🐶

My pup is 6 months old and we've started day care to get him around more dogs and to get used to it before we go on holidays. He loved it. The owners are incredibly friendly and the dogs are well looked after. Updates on Instagram aswell so you can see what they are up to.

My lab Nora absolutely loves her weekly visit to ‘School’. She loves her time there and especially loves Alan! Would be lost without their brilliant service in our lives now. They have been consistent and reliable since Nor was a pup and she’s almost three! Would highly recommend!

I cannot recommend South Lakes Kennels and Daycare enough having used both the daycare and boarding services over the last 6 weeks. Brodie and Quinn get so excited as we pull in to the yard. Genuinely lovely people who go above and beyond for the owners and their charges.

Our puppy Hugo absolutely loves Alan and Debbie. There is something special about going to pick up your tired pup after knowing they’ve had the best day socialising with with other dogs while being kept happy and safe. Would highly recommend and wouldn’t send a pup anywhere else 🥰🐶 seeing pictures throughout the day on Instagram stories is such a lovely touch too! 🐾

Our two springers love Alan and Debra. Genuine dog lovers who really care that the animals are happy and well cared for. Lots of love and cuddles given. They always come back clean and happy.

Our Cocker Spaniel loved his stay. Excellent service and very easy to communicate with. Would use again when we are in the area. 5 stars

A friendly greeting every time, run by a lovely family. My dog really enjoys his day care. They are alway flexible and very accommodating to changes in my diary from week to week.

My springer spaniel loves visiting South Lakes Kennels. When he arrives he can’t wait to get into the play area and doesn’t give me a backward glance which makes me feel I’m leaving him in good hands. Thank you Alan and co.

I've had my Boxer Ted stay at this kennels in the past and found it to very good. However I've tried a few times to book him in for boarding and every time they say they're booked up. I am starting to wonder if its that they don't wish to take my dog because maybe they find him difficult and they're being selective in what dogs they will take. It's very disappointing that every time you try to make a booking you get the same response mainly sorry we're full!

Our doggies love coming here! They are well looked after. It's also great that regular photos and videos are posted on Crossagates' FB page so us owners can see our doggies happy and having lots of fun.

Cannot recommend Crossgate enough to everyone, Lola, Sally & Bella absolutely love it here, they come home totally worn out.Thank you so much xXx

Just picked our dog up after a few days away. Love that they put photos and videos on their website so we can see he's fine.

My dog has been going to crossgate for 12years well looked after, lots of fields to run around in,all the staff are brilliant.

Fantastic doggy day care!! Wouldn't book a holiday until they are booked in first!!

My girl Maggie stayed here in 2019... after a 10 day holiday i picked her up from roundhills and she was half her body weight, if not less. The manager said to me "she doesnt hold weight" but I'd had no communication to say there was any issues whilst i was away. There was obviously no effort made to aid Maggie in eating. I will never return to roundhills and wouldn't recommend it.

From the day we left our dog with Helen and the team we knew he was in safe hands. Our dog had never been in Kennels and we had the chance to meet Helen prior to the dog staying there. Every specific requirement was carried out professionally. The team showed kindness and gave reassurance to our nervous dog. There was plenty of space and fields to have fun in for the animals. I will have no hesitation taking our dog back again. You were amazing!!!! Jill & Howard

My dogs Basil and Claire enjoyed their stay at Roundhills. Very happy and relaxed when we picked them up. Helen Rob are very friendly and obviously love looking after all the dogs.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! Unfortunately, there isnt an option to leave a review as bad as this place deserves! 0* isn't even an option... Neglecting animals and causing health issues to pets is not acceptable when people have put their trust, money and pets lives into your hands. But this is something you are known for doing. RSPCA have been called multiple times against this business and because the RSPCA inspector is friends with the owner, nothing ever gets done. Images get deleted and nothing ever gets resolved. Nobody should have to go through what my family have been through due to atrocious service that was provided here! This place should be closed down with immediate affect. And I'm sure if someone else in RSPCA actually checked this out, something would be done. People need to do research into the stories behind this place before ever using them! The stories or bad reviews are quick to be deleted so everyone, please do your research into this place before even considering letting them look after your loved pets. The likelihood is you will be getting your pet back in a much worse state than when you dropped them off. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

Helen has been fantastic in showing me around tonight, very pleased that she wanted to see health vacations are up to date before accepting, very pleased when going on to see kennels they were as discribed (heated/cooled, as weather changes ect) very pleased to see TV(s) on so the dog(s) have something to listen too. Very happy with layout the excersise and schedule that we've arranged. Craig! 100% recommend booking and if in doubt call and see Helen for yourself lovely!!! ☺️ 👍

Thank you for looking after Rosie for the day while we visited the Zoo. She has become quite clingy during lockdown but was happy to board for the day at Roundhills, went off without even looking back at us! She was thoroughly knackered when we picked her up, obviously had a great time playing on the field. Would highly recommend.

Took our very nervous Collie here for 3 days. Really lovely staff greeted us and made the process fuss free and put us at ease. Would definitely recommend.

The absolute very best in luxury dog boarding kennels. Fantastic, dedicated and caring team of canine experts who do it because they love it. We have an old boy who needs extra care and attention and a sporty girl who loves to run and get cuddles, and we know they get everything they need and more. This was the first time my 3 dog's had been in kennels, and I would definitely use again, the kennels were large and spacious and the dogs were looked after really well, all 3 were happy and bouncing when we went to collect them after there 2 week stay. Ann and Tim do a marvellous job, highly recommended

Great place for our boy while we were away for a family gathering. They made him feel very welcome and gave him alot of fuss which he loves. Good feedback from them about his stay and would definitely use them again

Our Newfoundland (Duke) loves staying with Ann, Tim and the team! Kennels and facilities are brand new, well thought out and IMHO are perfect! The location is perfect and best of all it is run by people who care and love animals. We were really apprehensive the first time we left Duke (he was a puppy and it was his first time, back in 2015). When we returned from our Holiday Duke was great! The real proof was when we returned for our next holiday! Duke rushed over to Ann and made a fuss and then sat in his kennel happy as ever. He loves it! Although we aren't local and live in Stockport, the extra effort required to drop and collect Duke is well worth it! We wouldn't leave him with anyone else!

Harry had a wonderful stay for the week. A very cosy kennel I felt safe leaving him here. Ann and family were very welcoming. We were an hour late arriving but nothing was a problem. It seemed just like home for harry - almost as if he could even help himself to a drink from the family fridge! We'll be back. Thank you!

Our dog is very happy to go to stay at "Auntie Ann's". He races to greet whichever member of staff is there and it is clear when he gets home each time that there has been no trauma. Lovely, caring kennels which we highly recommend.

If you want your dogs taken care of in the best possible way, Ann and the team are ones for you. Brilliantly caring and professional, they have also been very accommodating with date movements which the pandemic has thrown up.

Fantastic place to leave your dogs the kennels are indoors and very comfortable. My 3 dogs were really well cared for and obviously enjoyed their stay. I would recommend this place to anyone

Fantastic care. Ellie can't wait to see Keiron and Kate every time we drop her off. Can go to work and no worries as we know she is well cared for and happy. Just a bit of a problem getting her home as she just doesn't want to leave!! X

Highly recommend booking in advance as a new establishment with fantastic facilities at a exceptional price. I have no hesitation in advising anyone to book in with Kieran and Kate who are friendly and knowledgeable with first class service. There dog kennels are of ample size and have a blow through system keeping dogs cool in summer and warm in winter in addition they have a outside kennel during the day and a large feild where maximum of 4 dogs at any time will be free to roam everything is high fenced for additional security measures on a rotational basis. Clean place, with safe storage of food and access to fresh water at all times. The area is secluded with great security measures in place high fences and CCTV it's easy to see that dogs booked in at this place are well looked after. First hand experience Kieran has looked after our Dobermann and we were pleased with the service they had to offer- Music on for the dogs to also keep calm.

My Patterdale Buddy stayed overnight on Saturday for the first time and had a wonderful time. He was happy when he was picked up and slept right through the 3 hour journey home. Would definitely recommend.

Put our two young dogs in kennels here for their first time at the weekend and wasn't sure how they would react. Staff were brilliant with the dogs (and us!) and the dogs seemed to have a brilliant time and came home exhausted (in a good way). Part of me doesn't want to recommend these kennels because if they become too popular, I might not be able to book my dogs in!!!

I was really nervous about leaving my 5 month boxer puppy for the first time. Nothing to worry about I would totally recommend this place to anyone. Lovely couple, brilliant set up with air conditioning in the Kennels two lovely walks a day and someone employed just to play ball out in the field with them. I wish you every success.

Its the first time for my dogs to stay with the kennel. brilliant service, friendly staff at drop off and collection. I have an older dog and a nervous younger dog, both need were met. Highly recommend booked in for another 2 visits this year.

We picked our Frenchie up today after an 11 night stay. I was very pleased as she looked very happy, had not lost weigh and her eyes were bright and could also see that she had very much taken to Kate. We were sent photos and videos of Ruby whilst she was in there, which we were delighted at. I would highly recommend Roanhead Kennels and would not hesitate to board Ruby there again. Kaiser loved his stay at Roanhead. He came home happy and healthy and we received some lovely photos of his holiday. Thank you to all the staff who looked after our boy.

We dropped our dog there on Sunday evening a happy healthy 26kg dog to pick her up on Friday evening a drowsy, skinny 23kg dog. At home she is fed 400gms of food a day and walked for around an hour, the Kennels fed her the same amount of food yet walked her multiple times a day, we were told 4 of unknown time. We weren't contacted at all to be asked if they would like us to feed her more or to say she was losing weight at a rapid rate even when we messaged to ask how she was. When we got her home she passed out in bed and had to be carried to the bath and back, and was in a drowsy state for hours. We rang the emergency vets who told us to monitor her and take her to the vets this morning as we did. Her paws were all bloody and sore and she was holding them up, the vet has told us it's dermatitis probably caused from the bleach they were using or the conditions of their yard and she has also caught conjunctivitis in both eyes plus lost her voice from barking so much. We have contacted them multiple times only for them to say it's not their fault and they have done nothing wrong essentially, they could not care less about violet only that they're not to blame (which clearly they are). They have offered a refund which we haven't accepted as this doesn't fix the health problems she has come home with nor the upset it has caused.
