My pups and I absolutely love Nature of the Dog! Jackie, Luke and the entire are wonderful, friendly, attentive and clearly care very much for all the dogs. I love the small play groups with attention to most compatible groups. I cannot recommend Nature of the Dog for daycare & boarding.
We've sent our dog here for both overnight boarding and doggie daycare, they've been great! Really nice facility and the owner/staff are kind and friendly. Our dog seems to really enjoy his time there, too!
We have two Great Danes, who we board at Nature Of The Dog. We have boarded them at other places previously, and NOTD is by far the superior facility and staff. The staff is very kind and accommodating. Our dogs are excited to go to Nature Of The Dog and always come back in good condition and good spirits. They also have an excellent website, including dog friendly stores around Grand Rapids. HIGHLY recommend!
My dog Sadie loves Nature of the Dog for boarding and daycare. And she LOVES Mr Luke & Ms Jackie. Sadie has been going for visits since she was a puppy and she never loses her excitement for getting to see her pals! Thank you to the whole staff for taking care of my baby when we can't ourselves!!! We are so blessed to have you and Sadie says hello! :)
I send my dog there for day care daily and have used Nature of the Dog for boarding, and I cannot say enough great things about Jackie, Luke, their staff, and the facility! My dog is cared for and loved there, and I love that they get plenty of play time outside.
Puppies and not-so puppies love it. The way sessions are paid for you it’s have to plan well for your needs and make sure you understand conditions. At the GRR location is a little hectic right off M37 especially during drop off / pickup and rush hours.
Nature of the Dog is the best! Our very active and excitable golden needed a place that he could run and play under the supervision of experienced staff. Luke and Jackie take great care of him while boarding or durning the day for daycare. He always comes home tired and relaxed. I also really appreciate how they took the time to learn what kind of personality our dog has and how we have trained him. They work with him while he visits and make sure to reinforce positive behavior.
Well folks...we are happy to give this awesome, smaller boarding/doggie day care a "they've got it going on!" Nature of the Dog truly recognizes the nature if the dog. Boarding kennels are top notch and the owners know doggies (right down to keeping white noise going for dogs in their bedrooms waiting to rotate out into the play yard). Thumbs up to owner Luke. Relaxed, sweet atmosphere for visiting canine family members.
Great place to board your dog! My dog can sometimes struggle to get along with other dogs especially with toys nearby and they were very accommodating to this. They introduced him slowly and he felt comfortable enough to play with other pups! We hoped they would post more pictures of him while he was there but overall, a great experience!
We have loved Nature of the Dog!!! Our pup Remi loves going for daycare and boarding. He always comes home happy and tired. As first time dog owners we were nervous finding somewhere based off reviews. Nature of the Dog didn’t have a single bad review and you can tell why! Definitely check it out if have haven’t already.
In 2015, my sister and I bought sibling golden retriever puppies from Kandiland Kennels, owned by Bev King. While they are sweet and beautiful dogs, sadly they both developed pigmentary uveitis, a hereditary disease common in some purebred golden retrievers (a disease we had never heard of). Bev didn’t know at the time of their birth that the father would later develop the disease. However, once she became aware, she failed to inform the litter owners. She also failed to inform us that the mother developed glaucoma. Both parents went blind and there was NO COMMUNICATION. Since we were Facebook friends, she had an easy way to contact us but never did. After Finley's diagnosis and some messages back and forth with Bev, she acknowledged the presence of the disease in the line. I've snipped Bev's note below. Unfortunately, my nine year old sweet boy Finley (pictured below) has now gone blind -- and had one eye removed because of loss of sight and pain. The other eye will likely be removed later this year. His brother is also losing his sight. Early detection and treatment could have helped prevent this sad outcome (as it fortunately has for this individual's pup in the Facebook post below). I write this review only to make potential buyers aware. I wish I had known of this awful disease early on. Please have your dog’s eyes checked regularly. *A one star rating is for Bev's lack of communication. My Finley is a five star dog.
Bev is the best. The dogs love it there. They bound out of the car and go right to the gate. Always a great experience.
We have been sending our dogs to Bev for 25 years or more. I do not trust anyone else to care for them but Bev and her husband. Best care. Super clean kennels. Love Bev & Kandiland!
We have two of Bev’s goldens in our family and one previous who’s bloodline came from Kandiland. Beautiful, loving dogs, all of them! Drove from Ky to pick them up and it was well worth our time!
We have used Kandiland 4 or 5 times for our dog "B". She is happy when we drop her off, and happy when we pick her up. She seems to like to see all her new friends. Although she sleeps alot when we get her home. I think she is just happy to have her own room with some peace and quiet. VERY clean. Very nice.
Our puppy loves it there and is always so well cared for!!
Bev King is great to work on getting a new puppies. The golden retrievers that she raised are top quality and have great bloodlines. We just got our third puppy from. Extremely happy.
We used this kennel one time. They text us two days into our vacation wanting us to come get our dogs because they bark. It’s a dog kennel. They are dogs. When we finally got back to MI we let her know we’d be there around 8:30 and because she closes at 7 she informed us we would have to wait until the next day to pick up our dogs. She wasn’t going to tell us that our dogs were not welcome back rather we had to ask and her response was “not likely unless it’s a slow time of the year” it was a very nice place but super unprofessional.
Our dog had a fantastic stay here last year. We're about ready to book with them again. Very professional, courteous, and responsive. I know my dog is safe here and well taken care of.
Nice people and very clean kennel. Friendly and you can tell that they love dogs.. I board my german shepherd there.
