We feel like we’ve won the pet and house sitter lotto with Scott. Most importantly, he’s taken great care of our much loved little dog, giving him a lot of care, affection and attention. He paid close attention when Tingsha began scratching (allergy to an insect bite) which needed vet care, with great communication with us. He even took Tingsha to his agility school class each week (great fun had by all) and to get a groom. We’ve come home to a contented and very happy dog. The house is spotless, cleaner than we left it, with fresh flowers and the bed all made up. Perfect! We had regular contact with Scott all through our five week trip and being “fellow travellers” (in all senses) enjoyed sharing lots of local travel tips and experiences as we each visited new parts of the world. We were happy to lend Scott our car and he’s been great with it, super responsible. Scott is a really terrific guy and a fabulous journalist and story teller (you must listen to his podcast about his travels, it’s a cracker). In sharing our home and trusting our beloved dog with him, we feel like we’ve made a new friend along the way. We recommend Scott without any hesitation and thank him for a wonderful experience, we’d love him to come back and see us, anytime. Thanks a bunch!
Amanda was the perfect housesitter and pet sitter for our cat. She is organized and communicative, and took care to ensure she understood the guidelines for taking care of our home and our cat. She left our house in perfect condition and we returned home to one happy kitty! Would not hesitate to have Amanda housesit for us again or recommend her to others looking for a sitter.
Angie and Joe were fabulous pet/house sitters and overall people! Angie sent daily updates with photos. Really appreciate the extra effort they put into watering the grass and garden. The house was exactly the same as when I left (including sheets/towel washed, beds made, frig cleaned, dishes put away and trash taken out...). Pretty sure Mia was looking for them the next day as she ran to the guest bedroom. Already scheduled a second sit! If you're lucky enough to land them as pet sitter then you're lucky.
Lani is an excellent Pet Sitter and housesitter. Communication was easy, our pet Cleo appreciated her loving care. We came home to a relaxed and happy cat. I would happily ask Lani to housesit again.
Angela did a great job caring for Willie for 10 days while we were out of town. She was easy to communicate with and kept us informed about Willie, along with sending photos of him out on walks and at the beach. Angela was very accomodating when we needed to come home a day early - Thank you! The house was left in good shape and it's clear that Angela is organized and reliable and clearly loves her pet charges. I'd recommend Angela and will definitely include her as one of our top sitter choices in the future! Thanks again, Angela!
Sharon was a fantastic sitter for our week away! She left the house as tidy and clean as we left it, including changing the sheets for our arrival. I truly cannot even tell she was here and that made coming home after a long travel day so much easier. She was communicative every step of the way and provided daily updates on our cat with photos. We knew our home and pet were in good hands! I would gladly welcome Sharon back any time should we be so lucky : )
Hanna did an excellent job sitting Molly, Eddie, Jasper, and Miley. She communicated well, took notes on our initial meet and greet. She went out of her way to help us get the dogs to a kennel when we experienced a family emergency and could not extend her sit due to work commitments. The dogs loved her and the shy kitties came out of greet her mid stay. She left our home immaculate and well cared for. She is truly a winning pet sitter in our eyes! We hope she can come again sometime.
Carolina was a fantastic Pet sitter. From the beginning, it was straightforward to communicate with her. She met us before we left our trip and ensured she understood all the house and pet logistics. Luna and Cal were very comfortable with her and were best friends with her fast. She was very affectionate with them, and Luna and Cal loved her and were very happy with her. Carolina was very responsive and sent updates. She was really lovely and easy to communicate with. She was very respectful of our space and very tidy. She even washed the sheets and towels she used even when she didn’t need to. She put a lot of care into caring for Luna and Cal, and they looked very comfortable with her. Having Carolina as a pet sitter made our trip very easy, knowing our pets were cared for so well. We would love to have her back to sit for us again and highly recommend her.
Bard and Kim are amazing house sitters and pet care givers. I would recommend them over and over. I wish I could add numbers to the scale. They would get a 10+. Bard and Kim were super easy to work with, efficient, self-sufficient, and considerate. They took immaculate care of my home; it was definitely cleaner after they left! I would recommend them without hesitation over and over.
Angelica was a wonderful pet sitter for our dog Rosie! She was easy to communicate with before and during the sit (very responsive), and made time to do a walk through of our house/intro to Rosie prior to the sit. She was extremely reliable throughout the process, and left our house really neat. Rosie was happy when we got home! We'd be happy to have Angelica sit for us again and would recommend her to anyone!

Margo is a kind ,compassionate, and caring person who loves dogs, and will care for your dog as if they were her own. Whenever I have to leave my dear furry companion, I know I never have to worry the tiniest bit when I leave her with Margo, as she gives her all the love, attention, and care she could possibly need by walking, feeding her regularly, and giving her lots of warm and caring cuddles. I have also observed her with many different dogs, and she provides the same care and attention to each and everyone of them! I highly recommend her to board and care for your furry loved ones!
Margot cares for dogs like they're her children. She's kind, responsible and especially meticulous with dogs requiring medications and special care. Really the best dog boarding experience you can get!
Margot is a very loving and trustworthy person. She has very good skills working with animals. I recommend her!
We ADORE Margot. She is attentive, understanding of both pet and owner. What a gift she has been to our fold.
My standard poodle had a great time playing with the other dogs while my husband and I were mtb at angel fire bike park. It was such a quick and easy location, super close to AF and where we were camping. The owner is so friendly and I felt my dog was well taken care of. Would recommend to anyone looking for daycare/boarding 10/10. I will be using the facilities again the next time I’m in town!
We just picked up our dog, Pula, from Pet Pals. It was his first overnight visit and it couldn’t have gone better! Sandra, the owner, runs a great facility and her dog Rocky is such a sweet heart! It was clean and the dogs had plenty of space to run around and play. When we pulled up to pick him up he didn’t even notice us because he was having such a good time! It was so nice to see him having so much fun!! She sent plenty of pictures and updates which made me feel good and more comfortable with him spending the night away for the first time. I would definitely recommend Pet Pals for anyone who wants a fun and safe space for their pet. Thank you Sandra!
Her communication was good and her attitude as well from the start. She has the rule of no pitbulls or bull breeds of any. She declined my rot saying she looked more pit then rot which in my years of owning her and taking her out on hikes brewery tour or even walk.... no one person ever ask if she had pit in her. She told be she sends the pics of my rot out and some committee of 12 members 9 of them though my dog was more pit then rot. I wish Google had ways of me loading photos so viewers checking out my review could see how poor her knowledge is on dog breeds are!in Could see no way what so ever my dog has no pit in her. Lastly she told me inaccurate story of 2 pits getting out and attacking a person ripping there finger off... I contacted 8 different residents in the town about the attacks and not one including the mayor said "that's never happened here. If your not comfortable watching my dog... just tell me! I wouldve bee alright with it. But dont make false claims about people's dogs.
Our little vacation was almost ruined when our pup absolutely REFUSED to stay in the hotel room while we skied. LUCKILY this kennel was open and it was such a blessing! Our dog had the best time playing outside in the snow & laying by the fire. Highly recommend. Thank you for saving our vacay!
Worst customer service I’ve ever received, I don’t imagine how the dogs may feel with that lady and his attitude that she has, I’ll never trust this business again.
Because of the snow it is a beautiful place
Thank you for looking after my Rosie. The kennels are clean, heated, & each dog has their own kennel with a door for outdoor time. The host was extremely helpful and reassured me. This was Rosie’s first time in a kennel and seemed satisfied but when it was time to go home, she was READY!!
I highly recommend for all your pet boarding! I travel frequently and have been bringing my pet here for over a year now whenever I have to leave town. They are such a joy to work with and so caring - I always know my pet is in great hands!
Very attentive and loving to clients pets she cares for!! I would definitely recommend her. You have to make an appointment to get your dog boarded FYI.
Always a pleasure! They take fantastic care of our fur babies when we need to travel out of town. There isn't anyone else we trust! Thanks for always being there for us when we need you, SMK! ❤️
My Salukis go here when I am out of town. I know they will be safe and well cared for
Really friendly owner who takes great care of our dogs.
I wouldn't take my mother in law to this place! Very Scary. Works out of a mobile home with a few dog enclosures outside. Very unprofessional.
Nice people that treat the animals well
Great place staff is excellent
Love this place.
We’ve been boarding our two dogs, Bane and Ozzy, at Monte Vista Pet Lodge for quite some time, and we couldn’t be happier with the care they receive. Every time we drop them off, we know they are in great hands. The staff is simply amazing—they’re always friendly, attentive, and genuinely care about the pets. Bane and Ozzy always get plenty of attention and playing time, and it’s clear that they are well-loved while they’re there. It's such a relief knowing that our dogs are not only safe but are also having a blast while we’re away. We highly recommend Monte Vista Pet Lodge to anyone looking for top-notch pet care. It’s truly a fantastic place!
This place is absolutely incredible!! Our lil guy has gone here for almost a year & each experience has been pleasant! The staff is always so amazing & have worked hard to make sure each dog is comfortable! Nothing but good things to stay about this spot!
Monte Vista Pet Lodge is amazing! Cayla and the entire staff are incredibly friendly and genuinely care about the animals they look after. They always go above and beyond to make sure Omar feels comfortable and loved while we’re away. We wouldn’t trust leaving him at any other facility—Monte Vista truly feels like a second home for him. Highly recommend!
Our fur babies come home happy, healthy and exhausted. The daily updates are reassuring, especially since no matter where we vacation they are always on our minds. The incoming reception is warm and heart felt, as well as the release staff letting us know our boys will be missed.
They are super friendly! I love how they send you pictures and a quick report letting you know how your dogs are doing. These are the type of photos you receive. The grooming services are great as well. Both of my dogs were groomed over their stay. They are beat from all the playing.
Monte Vista Pet Lodge has been taking care of my dog while we travel for a few years now. They never disappoint. The staff is amazing and my Syd loves it there. I will continue to use them.
Monte Vista Pet Lodge is our family's go to place for doggie daycare and boarding services for our two canine family members, Oswald and Winky. The staff is friendly and attentive, and when we boarded them for 18 days during our vacation this past summer, they were very well taken care of, and were given the food that we provided for each of them per my instructions. Our pups attend daycare at MVPL at least once every week, and they are always very excited to go. When we pick them up at the end of the day, we receive two happy, tired pooches, and we often get verbal reports on how their day went from the staff. Monte Vista Pet Lodge has been great for our family, and it's nice to support a truly local business in Rio Rancho.
They treated my baby girl like the princess she is 😊. First time daycare was exceptional and every visit after was equally yhe same. Friendly staff, easy client portal and pup loves it. Definitely a keeper for a home away from home for our girl!! …
We were on vacation for a week and during that time our dog went completely blind, and into organ failure due to not eating. The story that I am getting from the facility keeps changing. We are beyond upset. Dropping off a dog who was given a clean bill of health the week prior by her vet (she has dental decay and a heart murmur) and then picking up a dying dog covered in her own vomit is not acceptable. The report card we received from them while we were gone stated she was doing “great”. They didn’t notice she went blind while in their care, nor that she had lost an extreme amount of weight. After getting her home, we made the decision to take her to an emergency vet facility. Due to her condition, the decision was made to put her down to end her suffering. We are devastated. We have used them for our girls for years with no problems until now. I do not believe our girl was treated with malicious intent, but with neglect. How do you not notice a dog has gone completely blind in your care and is starving to death? The manager Cayla, was kind, but the story we have been told has changed multiple times and many excuses have been given. The bottom line is our dog was neglected while in their care and it has resulted in her death. The owner lives in TX but I did speak to him by phone and after a lengthy discussion, he reimbursed us the cost of our dogs stay, and for Daisy’s cremation. He also owns the Zia Pet Hospital which is located right next door. I understand both businesses are currently up for sale. I did reach out inquiring if I could make a grooming appointment for one of our other dogs, as the groomer was wonderful and always did a great job, and is separate from the boarding, but was told no. That’s perfectly understandable, and we scheduled her somewhere else.
my dog Q-bert would write her own review of daycare at Monte Vista Pet Lodge, but she doesn't have thumbs or know how to use a computer, so instead here is a picture of her celebrating a recent birthday with her friends there. I am hoping it accurately conveys her feelings. thank you :^)
