Pet Sitters in Nags Head, NC

Owners made this experience so much easier than we could've hoped. We recently rescued a second Aussie Cattle Dog, Walker but are still working through some issues. We knew he couldn't stay in the beach house with us (too many people and their dogs already) but were terrified about dropping him off in a kennel due to his having been abandoned so many times by previous owners. Pam and Paul put us at ease; they clearly know what they're doing and how to handle sometimes-dificult dogs. They also sent us regular updates on Walker's progress adjusting to his surroundings which was nice. I definitely recommend taking Pam's advice on visits during your pet's stay! Walker almost didn't want to leave when we went to pick him up. We will definitely use Ocean Sands K9 in the future, if needed. I can not recommend this place more!

Pam did a great job easing our anxiety (human and dog) when we had to board our dogs for a few days while on vacation. We usually opt for pet friendly places, so this was a new experience. The care, thought and time Pam and Paul put in sets the standard, and it’s a high bar. We would not hesitate to return.

We used the doggie day care option while we visited the outer banks. We didn't want to leave our 2 dogs home alone all day while we were at the beach or out visiting the wild horses. They were there for 2 days with Pam & Paul. They had a really great time. You can tell these are really caring dog people. The first day, my one beagle was a little scared in the beginning. On the second morning, he ran in and didn't look back! Pam showed me a video of them getting love from her and you can really see how they liked her. I'm happy to know I can take my dogs on vacation and still have the freedom to do things knowing they are well taken care of. Thanks Pam & Paul!

If I could give 10 stars I would. Pam and Paul are amazing human beings . They took such great care of our dog Millie. She was all smiles when we picked her up. Don't hesitate to bring your pups here. They will be in great hands.

Fantastic experience. You can pick you dog up and take them to the beach and hangout with them anytime monday-saturday 9:30am-4:30pm. Very friendly staff and a super homey feeling. The food guy is awesome and so is the desk lady, Pam. Highly recommend, and much cheaper than boarding my pup at home, plus I get to visit with him and have him on the beach with us! 11/10!

This place is awesome and these people are angels! They cared for our two pups, Guster and Gizmo, during our family vacation in the OBX. We had peace of mind while they were there and we were able to pick them up for some day trips to explore and spend time with them. Everytime we returns them, they went running back in, and we’re happy to be back! This speaks volumes to the care they received. When it came time to leave, our little guy Gizmo sat down beside Pam and didn’t want to leave. Thank you both!

I’m so glad I found this place while on vacation in Duck this week! I feel like my 80 pound pitbull is in great hands with Pam. She gives us daily reports on his activity/bowels, and I can tell she genuinely cares about making sure our pet is happy and comfortable…she’s super knowledgeable and a true “dog person”. I love that this kennel allows us to pick him up daily to take him out for a few hours - I would definitely book again during our next stay in OBX!

My pups traveled with me to the Outer Banks abs stayed at Ocean Sands while I vacationed with friends. I didn’t worry about them at all after watching their excitement when I dropped them off. When I picked them up, I could tell they had a great experience. I will definitely bring them back on my next trip!

Our pups, Chloe and Luna stayed for a 3 night stay at Ocean Sands. When we got there, Pam and her husband were there to greet us. They let our dogs sniff around and made sure they were comfortable. While they were acclimating to the space, Pam talked to us and made us feel comfortable with leaving our dogs there. Once they were comfortable, they set up their beds and we were on our way. Pam is extremely meticulous and followed our directions exactly (that is sometimes not typical with boarding places unfortunately.) She even accommodated us when we asked to pick our dogs up later than planned. Our dogs came back looking the exact same as we had dropped them off, and it was clear they had eaten all their food like normal (which again, isn’t typical or our dogs when being boarded.) It is clear that Pam pays great attention to the dogs because when she called, she explained that our one dog wanted lots of attention while our other dog basically couldn’t care less (exactly how they are at home!) The prices are extremely reasonable and she’s very up front about pricing, which I appreciate because a lot of places aren’t. I would recommend boarding your dogs here and absolutely will be taking our doggos here when we visit again. Thank you Pam!

Honestly the absolute best pet sitters - Kayla and Chris are consummate professionals. They are caring, engaged and deeply committed. For many of us, our pets are our a part of our family and the decision of who should provide their care is not taken lightly. For us, Sandy Paws Pet Care is the best on the beach. We traveled for nearly 3 weeks -- we traveled with confidence as we knew our boys and our house were in excellent hands. From the first meeting, communications were clear and it was evident how much they love animals. We received daily updates and photos from walks, meals, play-time, snuggles and bed time. Have a picky eater -- no worries, our boys NEVER missed a meal, they ate better for Kayla and Chris than they do for us. Our dogs loved walking with Chris and playing in the yard with Kayla. Bruno loved his cuddle sessions with Kayla. Sandy was brushed daily to keep his coat in good shape. Chris even gave Sandy a bath -- a wet experience for both of them! He patiently hand dried Sandy and brushed him out. Our house was PRISTINE on return, everything neat clean, dishes done, floors cleaned, trash out, yard picked up. While the dogs were happy to see us, secretly they miss Kayla and Chris. Already booked Sandy Paws Pet Care for our next trip.

5 stars across the board - Dog Care - attentive, active & hands on Communication - before, during and after - updates and photos galore Professional Trustworthy Loving & Friendly (they feel like family) Clean (vacuumed, washed bedding and towels, took out the trash, cleared the yard of all poop, etc.) We have three dogs, each with their own special quirks, Kayla & Chris are great with them! From drop-ins to an eleven day stay, they have established a trusting relationship with us and our pups. They cared for our neurotic, thunder, rain, and fire works fearing lab, our energetic, playful, mostly obedient hound/pit mix and our finicky, timid, cat-like, lab without batting an eye. Attentive and loving. They have allowed us to have worry-free, stress-free vacation travel and coverage for day-trips and work. They are a God send and we are blessed to have them! Without reservation, I highly recommend Kayla and Chris @Sandy Paws Pet Care!

Sandy Paws Pet Care is the best! Kayla and Chris are reliable, trustworthy, and have been such a huge help. They are so good with my German Shepherd, spending time playing and loving on her as part of their walk/drop-in, and she LOVES them. I get lots of photos of my girl when they come by too, which always brightens my day. Highly recommend!

Kayla and Chris at Sandy Paws Pet Care are the best. They have such good energy and you can tell they love what they do. Our boy is 14 yrs old and needs extra care and attention which they provided, along with lots of love for him and his cat brother. I cannot say enough great things about them and how happy I am to have them in our lives, knowing our boys are in great hands. Added bonus is all of the great pictures Kayla will send (dog kisses, walks, cat belly rubs :) along with updates.

Kayla and Chris are the absolute best for pet care in the Outer Banks! We tried quite a few pet sitting services before finally finding Sandy Paws. What a breath of fresh air to finally find a service that is dependable, reliable and honest. The TLC that they have given our pets is just perfect. Their overnight care is so reassuring for our older pets. Their communication is wonderful. When they leave, you can’t even tell they were there! They clean up so nicely. Some people just have a natural loving way with animals, Kayla and Chris are these type of people. They were on time, caring, empathetic and went above and beyond caring for our kitties while we had to unexpectedly go away for a family funeral. I would highly recommend them for pet care.

Kayla and Chris are amazing. I'm very picky about who watches my cat, and I immediately got a good sense when I interviewed Kayla and saw her interact with my cat. They did a great job. I hired them multiple times for overnight stays at my house. They were responsible, loving, responsive, and caring towards my cat. Kayla sent pictures and updates to me multiple times a day, and brought any concerns to me immediately. She has extensive training and instincts for medical care. 5 stars. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Kayla and Chris are fantastic! They both truly love what they do and it is reflected in the care they provide. Chris stayed with our 3 dogs this past weekend and he took such good care of our girls. He sent numerous pictures and reports throughout the day so we never worried. This was our first time leaving our girls with Kayla and Chris but we have already booked several future stays. I can’t recommend them highly enough!!

Kayla and Chris go above and beyond and we cannot recommend them more highly. They will love on your fur family like they are best buddies, while also keeping their eyes on all the little things that might need attention while you’re away. We have had them keeping our fur family safe for years now and they mourned with us when one of ours passed and celebrated when our daughter brought her (very needy) baby to them to keep while she traveled). We are so grateful to have such caring, compassionate, honest care-givers in our area.

We needed to board our dog while staying in the Outer Banks because our rental wouldn't allow dogs. I found Jennifer by doing a google search of dog sitters in the area. I am so happy to have come across her website! She was communicative from start to finish, sent lots of pictures of my dog, and even sent him home with a few treats!! I could tell he was happy and well cared for during his stay in the OBX. Best of all, we had peace of mind and could fully enjoy our vacation knowing he was doing just fine. I would absolutely book with Jennifer again.

Jennifer is amazing. Not only is she extremely responsive to texts, you can immediately tell from meeting her that she absolutely adores dogs of all shapes and sizes. She watched our dog for 4 nights and even let us pick him up during the day so he could still enjoy the beach with us (our OBX rental was not pet friendly). Our pup can be a picky eater, but she somehow found a way to get him to eat reliably by dressing up his food. She even sent us home with a carton of unsalted chicken broth for him! I have the feeling that she goes above and beyond for all of her clients like this. All I can say is, dropping Teddy off with Jennifer at OBX Paradise Petsitting felt like we were leaving him with a friend. He was always super excited to see her in the evenings when we dropped him off and we got sooo many pictures of him snoozing on her couch. As a dog owner, it's such a relief to know that your dog is getting the best care. I 100% trust Jennifer with our pup and I can't say that for some of the other boarding places we've used. She is such a sweet, loving, and hardworking lady. We will definitely be calling her again because I'm pretty sure my dog already misses her! I highly recommend OBX Paradise Petsitting for all your pet-sitting needs.

I have used Jennifer as my pet sitter for over 2 years and am pleased, comfortable, and confident leaving all my pets in her care. She is responsible and gets to know each pet individually. She’s very reliable and has always stepped up to the plate when I have an unexpected trip out of town. I had the most amazing experience with Jennifer while I was visiting OBX!! She watched my one year old Portuguese Water Dog for 5 days and I couldn’t recommend a better service!! She sent me updated photos all day and took him to the dog park at least once a day!! I know he had such a wonderful time with Jennifer which made my trip even better knowing that he was in good hands! I will definitely be using her again for my next trip to the OBX!!

Needed to board my dog last minute while in OBX and Paradise Pet Sitting saved our trip! Jennifer, Mike, and Ariel were wonderful to my dog and took her in as part of the family. Jennifer even got her a no-pull harness which has been so helpful in walking her. I received regular updates and pictures which put my mind at ease. They really went above and beyond and I think she had the best vacation of all of us. I can't recommend them enough and we hope to visit again next year when we come down.

Jennifer was so wonderful with our dog while we were in the outer banks visiting. She treated him like her own and took him on daily walks to the beach and even gave him a bath before we picked him up. She updated us throughout the trip with pictures and how his day was. She and her family loved him like their own while he was there. Highly recommend her services.

We have utilized Jennifer's petsitting service since moving to the Outer Banks full time in 2018. Jennifer comes to our house when we travel to take care of our older kitty who needs a little extra attention and care. We couldn't be more pleased. Our cat is particularly shy and standoffish to strangers, but she loves Jennifer. I appreciate that Jennifer texts me pictures of our kitty each visit and let's me know how things are going, she also leaves me a note on our kitchen counter with updates on how the visits were. It is such a relief to have someone reliable looking in our cat and also comforting to have her keeping an eye on our house when we are gone. She will retrieve the mail if I forget to put a hold on it, take out the garbage if needed and always goes the extra mile for us, highly recommend Jennifer for anyone needing care for their fur babies!

It's so reassuring to know that my pets receive loving care whenever I'm away from home. Jennifer is an animal lover who showers her clients' pets with the same love and concern that her own animals have received. She has cared for my dogs and cats over the years and I'm always at ease knowing they're safe and receiving lots of attention.

Just picked my dog up from a weekend with Jennifer and he was all smiles! She takes the time to get to know your animal and gives updates throughout their stay, she even suggested a new harness and it’s helped with our walks immensely. She’s the best!

I have to give Good Dog Retreat an A++ in the care and treatment of my fur babies as well as all the kind support and accommodations they made on my behalf. I am an independent farmer with over 200 animals I take care of by myself in the MD mountains on the PA line. I also work At an animal emergency hospital working crazy evening hrs. I had a horrible time getting the farm ready for my being away for almost a week. They were incredible especially Izzy listening to my daily issue of not having the farm ready to leave. They were so kind in ensuring my reservation was not cancelled and took the time to listen to my stressed out stories of what I was dealing with. I had not had a vacation since 2016. That was the last yr I had gone to my families annual NC beach week. My niece and nephews were becoming teens and I have no idea how many more yrs my family will be doing this adventure. I knew this yr was an important one to make. Because of the kindness of the staff and owners I was able to get about 3 1/2 days in with my family. My dogs were treated well and had a great stay. I received pictures and updates daily. The staff also listened to my concerns of socializing my dogs with other dogs there and kept my dogs together for independent playtime. The facility is welcoming, clean, and a very comfortable environment. I won’t be in the Kitty Hawk area next yr and the traveling in the car is difficult on my pups. So I’m not sure if I’ll be back. But I certainly recommend this retreat to anyone looking for a fantastic place to let their pups have a vacation while they’re staying in NC.. Thank you again for all the kindness!! I was only checking it out on the internet, so Google asks about the places if you've been there or not. I've heard good things about this place. Sounds like very caring people & that this is something that they have always wanted to do. They offer so much & prices sound reasonable. They even offer ice-cream treats for your sweet pup's. They offer overnight. But just read their information for questions that you have. I believe Sandy would enjoy this dog care retreat. But at this time, I'm not in need of.

We loved this place!! As an owner of 3 dogs I stress about having to leave them, but after meeting Mariel and her staff and taking a tour of their top notch facilities, I knew they would be in good hands. Everyone was so accommodating and pleasant and answered all questions. When we went to pick them up, the dogs seemed so relaxed and happy. I knew they had been well taken care of and had plenty of play time. My small pup was even being cuddled at the front desk and sitting on Mariel's lap. 🐾 We will definitely be bringing them back!

Good Dog Retreat has a team of friendly, knowledgeable, compassionate care givers! I am new to boarding services so I was very nervous to leave my 4 month old puppy in the care of strangers. Upon the dreaded drop off, the staff was comforting and the worry faded a bit. Hours later I received a video and assurance that all was well. Day two came with a call, a picture of my boy and more reassurance he was okay, I could begin to enjoy our vacation! There was daily communication via calls, text, photos. So relieved! My puppy was happy and healthy went we picked him up…and very tired haha They are very professional and the pups are monitored by camera at night. I’m a believer now and would not hesitate to leave him in the care of the staff at Good Dog Retreat! I’m so appreciative of Katie, Mariel, Izzy and all other staff for the wonderful care they provided for my boy!
