Lovely spacious kennel, with secure playing field, all tucked away in fields. Boarded both my dogs for 1st time. Was worried as 1 of them isn't easy to handle, but all was absolutely fine. Sam is just the kind of person I was hoping for Would be happy to leave them at westwind any time 😊 …
Stayed here for the first time earlier this year and will always use Sam from now on. I don't think my dog wanted to leave! Highly recommended.
Sam's great, and our young dog Mabel had a brilliant time there, playing with her new friends. Sam sent us a couple of videos whilst we were on holiday (which was an added bonus, and really thoughtful of Sam) and we couldn't believe how much Mabel was enjoying herself (the traitor) - you could see she was having an absolute blast. This really put our minds at rest, so we could relax and enjoy our holiday. And the fact that it's a small kennels is good too - Sam has the time to play with and thoroughly exercise all the dogs in her care, and the dogs get to make good friends, and to spend plenty of time playing with them. So we've found Mabel's permanent holiday hotel, and we're very pleased. Thanks, Sam.
I have 2 border collies one of whom can be highly reactive with people he doesn't know and I didn't think we'd ever be able to use kennels. And then a well respected dog trainer recommended that I try Sam at West Winds. From the first time I met her I knew that Sam was right for my dogs. Three years on & I wouldn't go anywhere else. My dogs love her, they leap out of the car when we get there (they know where the toys are kept!!), the kennels are spacious & clean, the dogs are well exercised and most importantly for me they are understood, well looked after & all of their needs are met. I would recommend Sam and her kennels to anyone who wants peace of mind when they can't look after their dogs themselves.
We have been using Westwinds Boarding Kennels now for 5 years and highly recommend Sam and her family and definitely would not go anywhere else. The kennels are a great size and always spotless. Our rescue boy Bob has a few behavior issues and Sam and her mum are fantastic with him and in return he enjoys his stays and we have peace of mind. Thank you so much we really do appreciate your kindness and professional approach to our boy.
We have used Westwinds Boarding Kennels on several occasions over the past few years and I cannot recommend enough the care and commitment that Sam gives to all her guests. They are treated with the same care and love that she gives to her own pets I have left 2 of our beloved pets with Sam and each time they have boarded together and been thouroughly exercised with several walks per day on the beach and around the lanes, my eldest collie Benji has separation issues but has taken to Sam and will follow her around as if she were his owner, I secretly think if he could he would let her " adopt" him permanently. We last used Westwinds in 2016 for a long stay in late March which required a late drop off and late collection all done without any additional charges Basically Sam loves your pets and your pets will love Sam. If my wife will entrust Sam with our babies then that is recommendation enough.
Only boarding I would use for my boy, Sam & her family are fantastic. Always very accommodating with drop off collection times. Kennels are cosy & well maintained. Our boy has many special needs ie. Diet, medication etc, so goes to Sam with a list of instructions!! This has never been a problem. We have a very nervous dog, who is always happy to stay at Westwinds, so this speaks for itself. On collection we can tell he has enjoyed his holiday too. Highly recommended
We have taken our two GSDs there several times, including one when my boy was six weeks into recovery from cruciate implant surgery. Sam knew exactly what to do to look after him, in fact our vet confirmed our confidence in her knowledge & care. They are happy & relaxed in her company, greeting her with joy when they see her. There are very few people I would trust with our two, Sam is one of them.
Our Munsterlander, Charlie, has stayed at Westwinds many times. He’s been in several different kennels in various parts of the country in his relatively long life (nearly fourteen now). He's a sociable but sensitive soul, and Westwinds is one of the very few boarding kennels where he’s been consistently happy to go: he always runs up to Sam with his tail wagging when we drop him off! We never leave him anywhere else now. During the time Charlie has boarded regularly with Sam he’s had both knees replaced, and though these were fine for the first three or four years, more recently he’s got a lot slower and his kidneys are now failing: he’s on quite a complex drug regime and a special diet, and Sam has taken this in her stride. We’re always very happy to leave Charlie in Sam’s care, and as I said he’s always pleased to see her. My wife and I would heartily recommend Westwinds without any reservations, and so would Charlie!
Sadly I cannot recommend Westwinds. When talking to Sam when I booked I was confident that our 2 dogs (one a 5 month old puppy) would be well looked after. When we contacted to arrange collection Sam had changed the rules and we had to leave them an extra night. Not collecting them on the saturday pm would have been fine IF she had said that in the beginning. They were smelly. Old dog had been overfed despite instructions on quantity, pup had gummy eyes despite warning that she may need eye drops. Will not return.
We were so lucky to find Christine when we recently had our holiday in St Erth, my two whippet babies settled so well with Christine and Lottie...much better than they ever have anywhere else. Christine accommodated us for the times we needed and really made our holiday. It was so nice to be able to go off on our own to some places which were not suitable for our fur babies Poppy and Tansie knowing we didnt need to worry at all and Christine sent lots of lovely pics and vids of the girls playing and out on walks which was great xx Thanks Christine we will certaily be looking you up when we next visit xx Penny, Mike, poppy and Tansie xxxx
I have just come back from St Ives where I was staying with my family including my two dogs: Indi - a St Bernard cross & Marnie - a Newfoundland cross. We had seen a post about Christine on a Facebook group, and can honestly say she was a godsend to us over the 2wks we were In St Ives looking after the girls. After the first intro session they took to Christine, & were so happy when she came to sit with them when we went out. She sent us lots of photos, & put me at my ease whilst she was sitting (I very rarely use sitters at home). I would highly recommend Christine to anyone who needs someone they can trust to sit or walk their dogs!
We were so worried about leaving our princess, Lottie. We hadn’t left her for a single night since pre covid and we are absolutely besotted with her. Lottie is 12 so that adds another dimension too. We had planned a very special two week holiday celebrating our wedding anniversary so really needed to feel anxiety free whilst we were away. We need not have worried! Christine came very highly recommended and she exceeded all our expectations. We received daily updates, pics and videos. We had the best holiday underpinned by knowing Lottie was having the best, and safe, time too. I expected Lottie to be hysterical with joy when she saw me but she was very happy in Christine’s arms! Proof if proof were needed, and it wasn’t, of all of Lottie’s emotional and physical needs being met. Highly highly recommend and Lottie is already booked back in for another trip!
