We feel like we’ve won the pet and house sitter lotto with Scott. Most importantly, he’s taken great care of our much loved little dog, giving him a lot of care, affection and attention. He paid close attention when Tingsha began scratching (allergy to an insect bite) which needed vet care, with great communication with us. He even took Tingsha to his agility school class each week (great fun had by all) and to get a groom. We’ve come home to a contented and very happy dog. The house is spotless, cleaner than we left it, with fresh flowers and the bed all made up. Perfect! We had regular contact with Scott all through our five week trip and being “fellow travellers” (in all senses) enjoyed sharing lots of local travel tips and experiences as we each visited new parts of the world. We were happy to lend Scott our car and he’s been great with it, super responsible. Scott is a really terrific guy and a fabulous journalist and story teller (you must listen to his podcast about his travels, it’s a cracker). In sharing our home and trusting our beloved dog with him, we feel like we’ve made a new friend along the way. We recommend Scott without any hesitation and thank him for a wonderful experience, we’d love him to come back and see us, anytime. Thanks a bunch!
This was our first time using a pet or house sitter and the bar set by Leslie is very high! She is warm, friendly, communicative, responsible and very clean. Upon arriving, she immediately bonded with our rat terrier, Oreo, by bringing him a new frisbee (his favorite toy/activity) and throwing it for him in our backyard. Leslie has a sweet and mellow dog, Benny, who is now Oreo's new buddy! She kept my husband and I updated via texts/pictures of their daily activities, our house, and was proactive in asking questions before she left. She even dropped our dog off at the kennel for one night at the end of our trip since our flight was too late for us to get home for him! Our home was clean and had fresh flowers from our garden that she put in vases for us! Such a simple and nice touch! We have asked Leslie to come back to sit for us again for 2 weeks in August. I'd highly recommend her to take care of your pet(s) and home too!
Prashant and India were fantastic pets sitters for us. Both were dependable and were even kind enough to allow some service people into the home to do some repairs. Our dogs were well looked after and we got daily updates on how the dogs were doing. Prashant is very knowledgeable and gave us a few strategies to combat some negative behaviors that we were seeing with the dogs. Could not recommend them more. They will be missed.
Once again, having AnnaMarie take care of our pups was absolutely the right choice!! Her frequent updates, care of our house and fur babies was stellar! Although the dogs were thrilled to see us when we returned, as we chatted with Annemarie, we could see them continuing to go to her for affection and cuddles. It was so sweet to watch our one-year-old lick her ear and Annamarie just giggled and happily tolerated it. What a great sport😎. We would highly recommend her to anyone and would also suggest if you happen to see a less than perfect review for her ( there is only 1)I know the true story... it's unfortunate that some people are so unappreciative of someone who will go out of their way to care for their home and Pets (at no charge🙃🙃)-- it just boggles my mind and am confident they are not being honest! Suffice it to say she is a gem and perfect sitter in every way- if you can get a chance to book with her- do not hesitate! We truly think of her as part of our family now and all 5 of our pups would agree!
This was the 3rd time that Jill sat for us. That says it all but please read our previous reviews. They all stand and Jill is one of the best and most reliable and loving pet sitters we’ve ever had. If you have a chance to have her in your home and caring for your pets, you will be absolutely delighted. We love her.
Angie and her husband Joe were a great fit for our house and pet sitting needs! They kept in communication with us before our vacation started, and were able to arrive a little early so we could walk them through how various systems worked and where controls were located. Our dog bonded with Angie very quickly and I think he was hoping she would stay after we returned home :) We got regular updates and pet photos while we were traveling. Although we were out of cell phone range for several days, we never had a doubt that things at home would be just fine while they were there! They were also very flexible and understanding. Due to our flight schedule we arrived home in the middle of the night. Angie was able to feed and walk our dog, clean up and leave in the morning without waking us up! The house was left clean, the garden was thriving and our pup was happy. We are happy, and would be happy to have them back again as sitters anytime.
Leo and Susi were wonderful pet sitters for our two cats. They were responsive, communicative, and gracious guests, and the I swear the house was cleaner when we got home than we left it. The cats were very contented. Any time we leave we will be checking in with them first. Such a pleasure to work with.
Farhan is a fantastic house sitter! I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a down-to-earth, kind, and caring pet sitter for their home. We have three small dogs (around 6 lbs) and he took excellent care of them. They can be a little nervous/ timid around new people, and more so around men at times, but the dogs didn't show any of that nervousness around Farhan! He was gentle and respectful of their space and they warmed up to him immediately. I got a wonderful text the first morning that I was away that they cuddled up with him at night - showing how quickly they adjusted to him as their caretaker. I was able to meet Farhan in person before I left on my trip and I was able to have a wonderful conversation with an ambitious explorer. He is a delightful person. Upon my homecoming the house was very clean and the dogs were happy and relaxed. I can't ask for anything more! Thank you Farhan for taking such wonderful care of our three dogs and our home.
Shella was a great house sitter and I had no concerns leaving her in charge when we went away. She kept in touch while we were away and we returned to happy pets and a tidy house. What more can you ask?! I would be more than happy to welcome Shella back to house sit another time.
Amazing experience! Five stars all the way... Nikki was kind enough to watch our two cats Thomas and Toby while were away on our honeymoon. From the very beginning she made us feel comfortable with clear communication and quick replies. Since she was local in Atlanta we got to meet her ahead of time and hand off keys before we left. While we were away she sent pictures of our little buds having fun and being themselves, so we always knew they were ok. She always showed up exactly when she said she would from pickup to dropoff and it was so incredible to know they were in good hands, and we never had to worry. They love being around people so for her to have been able to stay with them and love on them regularly we came home and could immediately tell both Thomas and Toby felt great as they were completely comfortable. Much much different than when we leave even for a few days and have a pet sitter stop by and feed them. She asked all the necessary questions in advance, so she didn't have to email or ask anything while we were away. She even took the time to make sure everything was neat and tidy, prepped the sheets to be changed, and was unbelievably sweet to get us a wedding gift we both love. Nikki we can't thank you enough for taking care of our cats, and we would only be so lucky if you stuck around town! :)

A transformative experience for our 5 month old Labrador. We enrolled our dog in the 3 week obedience program. The results were incredible. Our dog is so much more pleasant to live with now and opened up a lot more freedom for her! We were very impressed with the staff and the facility!
Super friendly staff! I dropped my baby girl off on Saturday morning and just picked her up today. She had tons of fun and made some great K9 friends. I received photos and updates of my fur baby upon request. Honestly, I highly recommend them for a day of play and an overnight stay.
I had quite the unpleasant experience with this facility today. I had previously spoken to them expressed my need to visit prior to my dogs first appointment. Everything was great , yes, yes on the phone. When I showed up I was informed I could not see the facility,I could look on line at pictures. As I went to the site I scrolled and the gentleman walked off stating this is not going to work , have a nice day. A very disrespectful, loud, hand gestures up in the air wave. I was left standing watching his annoyance for asking questions. From what was said today in person , the dogs do not physically interact during daycare or boarding. Interaction is between a staff member and dog only. I could have been informed of this over the phone and saved me the 45 minute trip.
I highly recommend Silverbrook! I took my puppy here back in June. I wanted training for my pup that would get him to the point of not having to rely on his collar all the time. I take him with me everywhere now. I’m amazed at how well he behaves now, with the training he received here! This training was probably the best thing that could’ve happened for him. Thank you so much!!
We kenneled our two Labradors here for 10 days. The staff here is warm, caring, attentive, and they listen. They’re not the cheapest, and they provide significant value. Coming home to two happy, healthy dogs was worth every penny-and knowing that we didn’t have to worry about them made the vacation that much more enjoyable.
If I could give Silverbrook 10 stars, I would! We got our girl, Olive, from them in June and the process was amazing! They truly love what they do and they really do treat the puppies as if they were their own. These puppies (and their parents) are given so much love and a sense of security from the second they are born. The facility is clean, warm, and as close to a home like environment as you can get. Trish (the owner) kept us updated and sent pictures and videos of the puppies almost daily and has kept in contact with us even to this day. She has always made it very clear that she is available if we have any questions and has been so quick to respond when we do. Now, for part two. After about 5 months, we realized that we were in over our heads with training. These dogs have an amazing temperament and are wicked smart! We decided to send Olive to the obedience training program because we knew we were not doing her any good by continuing (what we thought was) training her ourselves. Our trainer, Jay, interviewed us before hand to get an idea of what outcome were we hoping for and which commands were most important to us. I love that they meet you where you are and really work with you to develop a plan that is going to work with your family. Jay is really good about communicating and sent lots of pictures and videos to keep us updated. My biggest worry was that this was going to change her personality, but it did not at all. She still has her sweet and goofy demeanor but without the chaos. We now know that what we thought was just normal puppy behavior was a lot of anxiety and confusion from both her and us. Our quality of life has improved so much and I cannot thank Jay and the staff at SIlverbrook enough for everything they have done!
We have boarded our 1 year old dog here various times over the past year, and he has always been treated well. We finally decided to do their three week training program, as our very large puppy had learned he was stronger than the rest of the family and had quit obeying us. I’m not joking when I say this training saved our family’s sanity! He came home the same loving, friendly, caring dog, but now he listens and responds to commands immediately, and is so much better behaved. We’ve been able to have him off leash in our yard without worrying about him running off. He’s not spending hours locked up in his kennel when see couldn’t control him. Seriously, this has been the best program ever.
We did the board and train for our 7 month old Cane Corso puppy, Dezzi. The trainers did an amazing job with her, and she is so well trained off leash now, that it is almost like she is a different dog. Highly recommend Silverbrook, and I cant wait to bring all 3 of our dogs back for boarding :)
Was our 1st time using Silverbrook Kennels and we are very glad to have had the opportunity! The location is peaceful and we like the "farm retreat" vibe Silverbrook has over the "industrial complex" most other kennels we've used, offer. Their staff is professional and kind. Can tell they are passionate about the animals in their care and we trust that our pup was well taken care of. Great first impression, even down to a small sign welcoming our pup by name. Small gesture, but a glimpse into the great environment they offered for our pup. We will continue to use Silverbrook again for our boarding needs. Definitely recommend!
Do not take your animals here, they do not feed them properly nor do they treat them with kindness.
We made our way to Sassafras K-9 via the recommendation of a friend who is in law enforcement. After several conversations with Ricky about himself, his background and what he offered, we chose to do the board and train with our 5.5 month old German Shepherd. Like Ricky, I had served in the military so I appreciated his straight forward approach in telling you how it is. After 4 weeks, we were supposed to pick her up on a Sunday, but when we called Ricky, he said that he would like to keep her a few more days because he wanted to do a little more work with her. We ran into a work conflict for the pick up date and without hesitation, he said, we could pick her up the following day. When we picked her up, he started out with a demonstration of the basic obedience he had taught her. We then spent another 45 minutes answering questions for us. Two days after she was home, he checked in to see how things were going. We have 3 follow up sessions with him and then a lifetime guarantee on her training. He told me to call, text or even video call with any questions or problems we might encounter. Now the work is on us to reinforce and maintain what she learned.
We placed both of our dogs in the care of Rick, about a year ago. They came back scared, timid and anxious. After bullying our dogs into submission, he left our Husky with an open wound for who knows how long. To this day, they are triggered by a lot of situations they were not triggered by before sending them into the care of Rick. He is harsh and his methods are not ethical whatsoever. I had to beg to get photos and videos of my dogs and was met with blurred photos and videos. one of my dogs will be forever scarred by his actions. DO NOT trust him.
Rick was recommended to me by two co-workers. I have been extremely pleased with his knowledge and service. Our puppy is doing great and I must give Rick all of the credit. He even make house calls to help you and your dog get through specific problems at home. I highly recommend Sassafras K-9 for anyone who is looking to get first class dog and puppy training. He will be my trainer for many years to come. Thanks again Rick!!
Sassafras K-9 has done great things for me and my dogs. Rick continues to train and board my dogs (One Belgian Malinois and the other Dutch Shepherd). He did an amazing job at tailoring his training for my needs. His attention to detail, taught me how to be a better owner and handler, by pointing out the small things like my tone with my dogs and excitement level when training. All those small details allowed me to more effectively communicate with my dogs, which made me and my dogs happier. Also, I think you will be more than pleased with his boarding facility. The Kennel Runs are always clean and the dogs get plenty of exercise. I would highly recommend anyone to Sassafras K-9.
I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Rick to anyone with a dog! Rick trained our dog onsite at his place, and then taught us how to work with her. He went above and beyond, coming to our home several times and now training our family members how to work with our new Grand-dog. We also boarded our dog with him, she loved it and came back with her training reinforced. I have already recommended Rick to several of my neighbors here in National Harbor. I expect there's no dog (or human) that he can't train! Highly recommend him!
Took my 5 month old shepherd to Rick for obedience and protection training and was extremely happy with the results once I picked him back up. We had issues with excitement pees and submissiveness and Rick did a fantastic job in correcting those issue. We are still working with Rick today and will continue to do so to develop our boy. Rick is an amazing trainer and would highly recommend to all for your needs regarding your dog. Absolutely fantastic. Kam
Rick absolutely knows his craft, and it shows through his passion for training, boarding and the overall care of dogs. He very skillfully trained my dog, who was once very unruly and disobedient. Not only have I witnessed his skills firsthand with my own dog, but I have seen him train the dogs of others, and he does it masterfully. I appreciate most that not only does he do an excellent job at training, but he also helps me to understand how to do it on my own. Rick is very patient and is willing to drive to my home to train my dog in my own environment (which sometimes makes it easier for me) or I can drop my dog off at his facility for training, which is VERY clean. I am awed with every interaction! If you are seeking a professional to train your dog, your search is over... your dog has just found a home away from home at Sassafras K-9. Thanks, Rick!
Rick is the BEST trainer all around in my opinion. I have 2 Rotti's and he took them in his training program and they are the best gentle giants you have ever seen. People stand in awe when I walk with them on how well behaved they are friendly. If I decide to get any other dogs he is the first person I call for training. I also call him anytime for advice on the dogs care and any issues that may arise. I recommend him to all my family and friends that have pets. His boarding kennel is great too.
Did the 3 week board and train with Rick in hope it would help my fear aggressive 1 year old German Shepard... instread his fear aggression issues were not fixed. He never exposed our dog to other people and when asked why, he said he doesn’t take his dogs around people. This was one of the reasons we brought him there in the first place... to fix his fear of people and subsequent aggression issues. Our dog already knew commands and when we picked him up.. Rick showed us how he could get him to jump over walls and such. That is all nice and dandy, but not at all what we requested from his services. He was also returned to us with injuries that we were not told about (an abrasion on both front paws) and bruising on his legs. He was also 10 pounds thinner. He keeps all his dogs in a kennel outside whether cold or hot, that is where they sleep... because according to Rick “they are dogs” After expressing our frustrations with his training, he offered to take him back which we declined. We declined because our dog appeared more fearful and full of injuries. So no thank you. We took a loss on the over 2,000 we spent with Rick. We later went to another trainer and had success combating our dogs fear aggression after 2 weeks. The new trainer trained with love and treated our dog as one of his family, which Rick did not. I would never recommend Rick!!! He caused more stress and damage to our dog
I boarded my dog with Sassafras K-9 for the first time this past month. I decided to use this kennel based upon a recommendation from a friend. My dog DJ stayed for 4 days. I have to admit I was a little hesitant. I was not sure if this would be a good fit for my pampered pooch. After arriving at the kennel, the owner Ricky took DJ into the kennel run. Ricky sensed my hesitation and assured me that my dog would be in good hands. I gave Rick my paperwork, and he again reassured me that my dog would be well taken care of. I even called to check on DJ a few times, and Rick never seemed annoyed. I was even able to meet Rick in the DC to pick up my dog. Having the drop off and pick up service made the entire process super convenient. I will definitely use Sassafras K-9 again for boarding.
We had an amazing experience with The Ruff House! We needed a place to board our dog (Lincoln) over Thanksgiving and were fortunate to find an opening. The communication was excellent—we received daily report cards detailing our dog’s activities and even got pictures of him playing and enjoying his meals. It was so reassuring to see how well he was cared for. We couldn’t be happier and will definitely be using their services again in the future!
We LOVE The Ruff House!! Our pup gets so excited for daycare days ❤️ And the report cards and pics they share are adorable. We can tell she has a great time. They also do super cute theme days, including letting the dogs send valentines to each other! 💌 We love them!!! …
Pretty Sure Rex would also give a 5 star review! Great loving staff and a very reasonable cost. When we dropped him off for his first boarding there were other dogs arriving as well. They all looked super happy and excited to be there. When we picked him up it was obvious he felt at home at The Ruff House. I sure appreciated the daily pictures and the report cards.
We love The Ruff House so much. Our pups stayed here for 20 days in total so far and they were thriving! One of our pups gets very protective of our other pup in social settings and also gets very anxious when she sees her sister playing with other dogs. The staff patiently listened to our needs. As a solution, they made sure to separate the pups when they socialized with other dogs and they even made time for one-on-one play! The daily report cards were fantastic and were the highlights of our vacation (sad, I know). Our drive to The Ruff House was 1.5 hours from DC but we’d readily make the trek in the future. That’s how great this place is!
The Ruff House and its employees are the best of the best. Our 2 beagles have been frequent daycare and overnight boarders for several years. You know your dogs are happy when they run to the front door of the facility as if to say, let us in, let the party begin. Thank you Ruff House!!!
We left our yorkiepoo for a long weekend and she enjoyed her time at the Ruff House. We didn’t receive any issues about her and she’s very happy! She will probably miss her friends from the Ruff House! We are very pleased to leave our yorkiepoo at the Ruff House! She seems to really enjoy all the other dogs she plays with and the staff is wonderful with her! We bring her there whenever we leave town!
My husband and I are newer pet parents. We have an almost 2yo boxer mix and this was our first time having to board him. The Ruff House had great reviews so we took the leap and scheduled a week with them. I love that they have a meet and greet to evaluate the pup and see how they do with other dogs, especially since ours hasn’t been around dogs in that type of setting. Obviously we were nervous but the staff member that we handed our pup off too on 7/18 was wonderful. I also voiced my concerns about him being a pain to feed. Sometimes it sits out all day sometimes we sit down and spoon feed him. Obviously he’s spoiled rotten. They were happy to oblige!! Also the report cards and pictures were sent were comforting. To be able to see him having fun made us so happy! I highly recommend boarding your pup here.
We love The Ruff House! We recently boarded our dog here for 3 nights and we couldn’t have had a better experience! We looked forward to the daily photos and report cards! It gives us comfort to know our girl will be taken care of when we travel!
We LOVE the Ruff House! Our dog, Grohl, has the best time whenever he goes there, jumping to get out of the car. I love getting daily report cards with photos and updates on what he did all day. They do such a great job with the pups and I HIGHLY recommend them!
My husband & I felt very comfortable leaving our dog Kassie at the Ruff House for 2 weeks while on vacation. With daily report cards & pictures of her playing with her new friends, we felt like she was also on vacation & having the time of her life. The facility is very structured & the employees are very caring & nuturing. We will definitely consider using the Ruff House again in the future.
Wanye was great with both of my dogs! even for extended periods of time! Even though i know my dogs can be a handful, they were well taken care of and never left alone. Biscuits is definitely the way to go!
Since I started going back into the office for work, I didn’t want to leave my three dogs at home all day. Pawz Paradise Dog Daycare has been a lifesaver! The staff is super nice and care for your dogs as their own (even know them by name!). They always deal with me calling around lunchtime to check in on my fur babies. They also give me a breakdown on their day when I pick them up. I will continue to use them for daycare
Pawz Paradise is a reliable dog day care. The owner take his time out of his day to make sure everything is going in a way you are most comfortable with. I worked here before I moved and I loved it. So much fun and great experiences. If you are looking for a place for you dog I recommend.
Do not take your dogs here. We had scheduled to drop our dogs off at 6:30, when we arrived no one was there. We waited around until 7 before calling the owner. He stated that he had mixed the schedules up and that his employee would be there in 15 minutes. We waited another 40 minutes and no one showed up. He offered $20 off and free grooming for the inconvenience. Which we declined and left. It's a shame when you make an appointment at 6:30 and no one shows up until 8:00. DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOGS HERE!
I took my dog to their daycare and now my dog looks forward to it every week! The staff is very friendly and they are very accommodating to each dog. Along with that their prices are pretty good. 10/10 I would recommend to any dog parent!
Miserable, dingy, kennel with dogs whining in crates. Owner not present and only available by phone. Our reservation was for 9:00 am. When we arrived at 9:15, the door was locked and the attendant hadn't yet arrived. Seemingly, the dogs who were crated overnight hadn't been let out for a morning potty break. Very little display of care or affection.
Great service. The dog's love him and he loves them back, lol
Forgot about my dog. Left him 26 hours without food or bathroom break. Then did it again. And again. Didn’t seem to be bothered by the fact he endangers animals. The worst dog walker ever.
I’m extremely happy that PawzParadise accommodates my sporadic schedule and requests. Convenient and the nicest staffs. My dog behaved so well when she got home. Socializing helps. Thank you!
Owner and staff are very professional and provides flexible options that gives me and my family's pet reliable service from dog walking to daycare (when we are on vacation)! Highly recommend!
Our dog loves this kennel. If you are not thrilled by the high prices and unnecessary frills of other kennels, Four Paws is just what you need. Our dog is always super happy when we pick her up. The staff are very friendly and you can tell they really love dogs.
I have boarded my dog here and take him to doggy daycare a couple times a week. I believe he absolutely loves this place because he is sad when he doesn’t go, and when he does go he is extremely excited. Everyone there is really nice and care about the animals. I HIGHLY recommend this place due to the following: friendliness, cost, cleanliness, communication, staff, and the facility. I have absolutely no gripes about this place. I trust them with my baby.
First time at this location. Furbaby is a regular at Richmond and the care for him here for overnight was great and seamless given he is in the network already. This location is tucked away but is newer it appears and the staff is great just like in Richmond. Kudos to the social media posts.
I love the staff! My rescue dog was anxious and apprehensive around other dogs and unfamiliar people but with the time and attention she's received from their compassionate staff she's transformed into a happy outgoing dog.
Do not let your dogs board here! My husky stayed there from Sunday until Friday and when she was was picked up she had sores all on her nose and she is not acting like herself she seems very traumatized. I was informed the day before that she tried to get out of her cage breaking it in the process and that’s how she got the sores but when I asked for pictures of the cage I was told by amanda, the manager, that she would send them to me. 2 hours had passed and I called back to see what had happened and I was told she was in the bathroom but she would call me back and 30 mins passed and still no call and when I tried to call no one answers. For your dogs safety I REPEAT DO NOT LET YOUR DOG STAY HERE! How did she tear up a cage or even begin to tear up a cage without anyone noticing?
i've boarded my dog here for at least a year, perhaps coming up on two. he loves this place deeply, as soon as he sees the staff it's like his parents don't exist anymore with how excited he is to see them. my dog had a sudden, serious medical episode while being boarded. as terrifying as the ordeal was to deal with remotely, 4paws didn't just go above and beyond for me -- they moved mountains. amanda and camden, two employees, leapt into action and took care of my dog as if he were their own. they drove him to multiple vets looking for an opening, eventually going all the way to richmond's emergency vet because that was the only option with capacity that day. those two stayed with my dog in the emergency vet for well over 12 hours total (well into the next morning), with constant communication and photo updates of my dog the entire time. they both also had an impeccable positive attitude throughout the entire ordeal, which made me (and my dog too im sure) stay calm. even the vet commented on how comfortable my baby was to be with those two, which was great to hear even though i already knew he loves them. amanda and camden are the absolute peak of pet care professionalism, leadership, and most importantly, pet health. i will forever be grateful to amanda and camden for their dedication to making sure my dog was safe and healthy regardless of distance and time consumption. 4paws treats their clients' pets like their own children and i will always owe them more than i can ever repay for being there with my baby when i was states away and could not be there myself.
They rejected one of my dogs all because of her breed. She is a pit mix. But she is the sweetest dog ever. Wish people and places wouldn’t judge just by the breed🤦♀️ …
We needed 4Paws to give our dog meds at a certain time before our arrival to pick her up, so we called when on our way there. Had to leave a VM because there was no answer. Rather than having to wonder if they got the message and gave her the meds, Ashley (sp?) called us back within a cpl mins to confirm both receipt of the msg and the passing of said msg to those who give meds to the dogs. Thx, Ashley, for making it so that my wife didn’t stressbox, wondering if our dog got the meds she needed.
I have been taking my dogs there for boarding and daycare. Their staff is always welcoming very friendly They take care of my dogs like they were their own. I truly appreciate all their efforts and caring they put into what they do every day and for my dogs. I highly recommend this place.
We adopted a 10 month old Beagle who's energy was out of this world. The first day of Doggie Day Care was amazing The staff greeted him with love, checked on him when I called and gave me a report when I picked him up. He is happy to be there and it is because of the staff and his new dog friends. Even our new vet said this was a good place.
The staff is so friendly. I can tell the staff enjoys working there which in turn transfers to how well they take care of my pup. They are wonderful and my dog, Lilly, loves going to daycare. She is excited when I drop her off and tired when I pick her up (which is a good thing). They are diligent in ensuring the safety of the pups by enforcing the appropriate handler to dog ratio and ensuring vaccines are up to date. I highly recommend The Dog Eaze Inn for daycare. 10 Stars!
I cannot recommend Dog Eaze Inn highly enough! From the moment I walked in, I felt at ease knowing my little dog was in such caring and professional hands. The staff is incredibly welcoming and genuinely loves animals, which shows in every interaction. The facility is spotless, spacious, and thoughtfully designed with dogs' comfort and safety in mind. My pup especially enjoyed the supervised playtime with other dogs—it's clear that the team takes great care in matching pets with compatible playmates. What stood out the most was the personalized attention my dog received. The staff made sure to follow his feeding schedule and provided plenty of cuddles and TLC, which is so important for a smaller, more sensitive pup like mine. I also loved the updates I received while my dog was there. The photos and notes about his activities put my mind at ease and reassured me that he was having the best time. Dog Eaze Inn truly goes above and beyond to make both pets and their owners feel cared for. If you're looking for a trustworthy, loving place for your dog, this is it. My little guy always comes home happy and tired from all the fun. Thank you, Dog Eaze Inn!
My dog is reactive and shy, but let me tell you... this place did a wonderful job working with my dog, Flaco, and getting him to not only open up but socialize with more than one person. They always take great care of him, and they were even able to give him a bath! Which is unheard of for my dog. I'd never thought it would be possible for him to even make friends, but I am grateful I found Dog Eaze Inn to not only treat my dog with love and care but to also have him open up. Thank you!!!!
Lola always loves staying at the Dog Eaze Inn. They always fuss all over her and make her feel loved & special! We love them! This last time her tail was wagging so hard when she saw where we were arriving to when we dropped her off! She couldn’t wait to see all her friends there (and meet lots of new ones!!!). When we picked her up, while she was happy to see us, she definitely was sad to go! Thanks, as always, to the staff there for taking such good care of our girl!
Dog Eaze Inn seems understaffed and unorganized. I have attempted to make boarding reservations on a couple occasions and reaching an employee was challenging. I had to play phone tag several times before reaching someone that could assist. I had scheduled a tour of the facility prior to finalizing reservations and was provided a time, only to show up and be told they didn’t have the staff available to accommodate the time they scheduled. There’s too many red flags regarding this business for me to entrust them with boarding my dog when they don’t seem capable of managing schedules or appropriately staffing enough personnel to assist customers and attend to the pets in their care. UPDATED REPLY(11/22/2024): Thank you for the explanation and I do understand the issue with limited personnel. Unfortunately, I believe that contributed to the communication problems as I tried to call to cancel my initial tour but there wasn’t an actual person to receive my call prior to your cut off time for tours. I called to reschedule at 3pm the next day. I was advised by your receptionist to arrive prior to 4:45pm. I explained I was on my way and arrived at 4:10pm, whereby she explained she could not accommodate me after telling me different just an hour ago. After driving an hour in traffic and then told otherwise is unacceptable. Also, I appreciate the booking information and completely understand being full, but my issue again is that prompt communication could have resolved the situation more amicably. If a situation were to occur whereby I needed to relay time sensitive information during boarding or daycare, I lack confidence in a timely response due to the communication shortfalls.
Nikko looked happy when we picked him up after 3 days and 3 nights. He seemed to have had a pleasant stay. The staff are very nice and caring.
My two dogs boarded with them for 8 days. Even though they shared a run, the bill was just shy of $1000. They offered outdoor playtime with other dogs and several grooming services, but my boys just got the basic bath and towel dry. It was pricey, but I knew my dogs were well taken care of.
I would personally stay there...lol...think I'd fit in a crate? I found everything very clean and different packages for boarding to meet your needs. We went with the middle one and when we picked our girl up, she was clean and happy. The Staff is totally awesome and even washed the containers we sent with Tootsie's food. I totally give them 5 🌟 🌟🌟🌟🌟 and we will be back...Thank You! Tootsie is with our new rescue we adopted, so you'll get to meet her too!
The Dog Eaze does fantastic with handling reactive dogs. My dog does not play well with other dogs but every time I've boarded him here he was kept in his own private area to play and room to sleep. They make pick up and drop off safe for him by requesting visitors do not bring their dog into the office while other dogs are in there. He has also had many appointments for grooming and they have always been so quick and caring and I personally think the prices for this service for a Large Standard Poodle are very reasonable. We are moving away soon and I will miss having Dog Eaze just down the road. Thank you for all the love and care you have given to my dog throughout the years. I am so thankful for all of the employees who played, bathed, gave tuck ins, fed, and cuddled him while I was away.
I boarded my black Labrador at the Dog Eaze Inn for three nights. He was very calm when I picked him up. He ate his dry food and chewable Cosequin pill every night. I highly recommend The Dog Eaze Inn.
This is my third time using Calypso Kennels for my dogs. I’ve always had a great experience and the staff genuinely cares about my pets well-being. I wouldn’t leave them with any other kennel. Thank you for being there for us!
We cannot say enough good things about Calypso Kennels. The staff is friendly & always helpful. The facility is well managed & orderly. Koda is always excited to go & always happy when picked up. We are never concerned when he stays there. Highly recommend.
We love this kennel. They are very friendly and help keep our fur friend happy and healthy. They keep you up to date if anything is wrong and will help solve the problem. My dog always has a good time
Was recommended by a friend and so happy we boarded our corgi here! Very friendly staff, reasonable prices and the report card was such a cute touch! Will def be using Calypso for our future needs!
We love Calypso Kennels. They take such great care of our cat while we are away. They provide wonderful services, their facility is clean, and the staff is fantastic.
I had a wonderful experience with Calypso Kennels. I boarded my cat for the first time and she was quite apprehensive and had some trouble adjusting. Staff kept me very informed. They made significant effort to get my girl uplifted. The care and service was truly incredible. I am beyond grateful.
Calypso kennels took very good care of my three best friends while I was out of town. The staff was very attentive to their special needs and Lilo, Stitch, and Marty McFly seemed very happy and content while in their care. Thank you Calypso for taking care of my buddies.
This was my first time boarding Lucy with Calypso. Staff gave us a tour as requested before boarding her showing all the areas with explanations of the use. We liked the concept of Lucy having her own kennel and outside run - while she is ok around other dogs, it's not her norm. She would much rather be around people - here they take the dogs on "potty break walks" and provide options for yard time (ie, a large fenced area where the dog can run free/play/do zoomies). They have several options you can add to the daily room fee to tailor the pups visit. Lucy stayed 5 days. Calypso provided a verbal and a written summary of her stay (activity level, how she ate, any noted bowel changes, what she seemed to enjoy - for Lucy it was lying in the sun on her external run). We rarely board Lucy - we take her most everywhere we travel. It's great to have a place available near home that pays good attention to her, provides her with a safe environment (ex, air conditioning, back up generators in case of a power outage, daily cleaned kennel, etc) and keeps us informed.
This was our first experience using Calypso Kennels. We will definitely be using them again. Our dogs have never been to a kennel before and having the peace of mind that they were safe and well taken care of is priceless.
I used Calypso Kennels for the first time last week. I boarded my dog Thursday -Monday. The staff was very nice and professional. The facility is maintained very well. They took very care of my dog and even gave him a bath! I plan to use them for future boarding and daycare.
I could have easily given all 5 stars. However, upon pickup the girls went over all the fees, love that, and they mentioned the baths for each dog for $25, which we wanted and planned for, and then went on to say the grooming for one dog is $75, and the other is $50. So we say no, we didn’t ask for them to be groomed. One girl asked another to look on the calendar for confirmation- she did and says no they aren’t on it. So she immediately calls her manager and explains. Gets off the phone and says oh it’s just $75 for the big dog and $50 for the little (she was nice and used their names), because it depends on how their fur is and if they are a problem during the bath etc. okay, so we kinda roll our eyes and just go with it because we haven’t seen them in a week and want to go home. But we bathe them weekly and they stay still for us so I imagine that with their professional equipment and actual temperature controlled water that the dogs were likely decent for them. But again - whatever, it’s fine we’ll pay. So we get to the pups and they are CLEARLY groomed. They are bathed and groomed. They look amazing. But clearly - GROOMED. Perfectly coifed paws, trimmed nails, the whole shebang. It’s not like I’m mad they look good because whoever did it did a really great job. It’s just that it was a tad on the shady side that you tried to charge us for bathing and grooming, then only when we object, corrected it to just extra fees for difficult dog baths - but you actually did indeed groom them. I don’t love that. If it was an accident and you thought you were supposed to groom them then you should have been honest and ate the fees and still charged us $25 each for a bath. If you just wanted to groom them because they’d look so nice and good - then fine but again, shouldn’t charge. And if you’re a liar and you just do this to many people for extra bucks then that is not awesome. And for that reason I can’t imagine bringing the pups back because I just don’t want to do business with someone that I feel is either so unorganized or worse, dishonest. Both our fully vaccinated dogs, a 10 year old and a 1.5 year old also got kennel cough. Not that it’s anyone’s fault - this is why we vaccinate of course. Just full disclosure. And they didn’t start coughing until the morning after we got home - so I don’t blame them for not telling us because it’s doubtful they knew…so like 12 hours after we picked them up. All in all, I think they were well cared for - but I don’t find it good customer service to do this to someone esp when the pets spent 7 days there.
After posting my reviews, I received a phone call from one of the trainers apologizing for not responding to my inquiry. She was very kind and explained a mix up regarding emails with the owner. No big deal; these things happen. I appreciated her apology. She did inform me that they do not train in the kind of scent work I am looking for, and she sadly doesn't know anyone near my location who does. My only suggestion would be for the owner, since they are the ones who receive the emails. It might be best to respond to the customer in an email and state something to the effect of, "Colonial K9 has received your request and we will be forwarding your message to the respective trainer. Please let us know if a trainer has not gotten in contact with you in the next 48/72 hours." This way the customer knows their email has been seen and read. Otherwise, the customer feels their request wasn't taken seriously. Additionally, a reminder message or task could be created within the Microsoft 360 platform and be sent to the trainers. Just some ideas to help the customers and trainer so a customer isn't lost due to mistakes. Thank you again for the apology. It is appreciated. I have bumped my review up from two stars to fours stars. ***I have not used their services***This is only a review based on communication, or lack thereof*** On 08MAY2024, I called Colonial K9 to inquire about dog training; specifically scent work. I have been looking for a solid trainer since moving here. It has not been easy finding a reputable trainer. During the phone call, I was told to send an email because emails go straight to the owner. The owner will review the email and either respond personally, or the owner will send the email to the respective trainer. I thanked the person who I spoke with and promptly sent an email detailing my dog training needs. By 15MAY2024, I still hadn't received a response from Colonial K9. As a result, I sent another email and stated; "I am following up from my attached email as I have not received a response. If you are unable to help us, it's understandable. I would appreciate it if you could give us a referral on a trainer who can help." As of today, 24MAY2024, I have yet to receive a response. I am not sure where the disconnect is. All I want to do is find a solid trainer to continue with scent work training. I guess Colonial K9 isn't interested in assisting. Copy that!
Wonderful for both grooming and boarding. They take great care of our dog!
We love Colonial K9 and it is our go-to kennel and dog training in Stafford. We have been clients since 2019, using them several times a year. Great care and service to our dogs, great training, and really fair pricing especially for the larger runs. We highly recommend this kennel to everyone in the Stafford/FRED area!
Great training staff, knowledgeable and friendly. They clearly know what they're doing, and take pride in the classes they hold. Only issue is introducing your dog to the day care crew...the front desk attendants just walked our 4mo old puppy in with full grown dogs and he was trounced right out the gate. He wound up fine, but shows a lack of understanding amongst the front desk crew and could have been a dangerous situation knowing dog pack behavior. Would recommend to family and friends b/c the training is great and facility is clean and spacious.
We absolutely loved our dogs first kennel experience. When we arrived with them, we were able to walk them to their actual kennel, which we weren't able to do in previous kennels. The kennels were clean when we dropped them off and picked them up. The staff was friendly, and our dogs were happy to see them and interact with them.We will definitely take them back for another stay.
My dogs have always had a great experience here. Their facilities are solid and they know what they are doing. They take great care of my pups and have fantastic customer service. Their dog training is also too notch. We had one dog with a behavior issue and after one session I was able to work with him and correct the problem. We love this place so much that we still use it after moving to locust grove. There’s absolutely nothing in Fredericksburg or Culpepper that compares.
Roo and Ellie Grace just got home from their first boarding experience ever. They did great! The staff took excellent care of them, and I have more reservations for November. Great place. They were safe, got exercise and love and good accommodations. Will definitely be using them a lot in the future.
They always take great care of my elder small dog...
I picked up Bucky today following boarding him for a week. Bucky is 18 months old and has been going to daycare there since he was 6 or 7 months. Bucky loves going to Colonial K9 and gets super excited as soon as we are almost there. I like knowing that Bucky is safe and having fun while I am away. I will definitely use Colonial K9 for future boarding needs and will continue to use their daycare. Update: Just a note of concern. If a dog is exhibiting behavior that is atypical which has led to them being placed in time out why is the owner not notified? I don’t pay for daycare for Bucky to be locked in a crate for 5 out of 7 hours. That literally defeats the purpose of him going to daycare. I would rather pick him up and take him home so he can at least run around in the house. Instead now he’s basically just as full of energy as he was when I dropped him off. The whole point of daycare besides socializing is so he can wear himself out and just eat and sleep for the rest of the evening at home. If Bucky comes back for daycare I would like it to be noted that I will always be available to pick him up vs him being in “time out” all day. Also is it really “time out” if it lasts all day??
Dexter is our 1 year old+ baby. He is a Mountain Curr Dalmatian mixed with high energy. The staff knows how to handle those particular breeds. He takes a 15 minute break every hour to calm him down, we use that same technique at home with great results.
I was so grateful for the staff (especially Rachel) that provided a personalized care for our dog and kept us up to date on everything with our dog. They were so accommodating when we ran into issues while on vacation and running late for pickup. It truly made me believe that the staff really cared about the dogs and their families and that they’re not just a business that only cares about the bottom line. We’ll definitely bring Milo back for boarding and daycare needs.
I am extremely disappointed with Dogtopia and feel compelled to share my experience. First and foremost, the way they treat their employees is appalling. The management is a complete mess—poorly organized and seemingly indifferent to both staff and dogs. The facility is overcrowded with dogs, far beyond what the space can accommodate safely. There aren't even enough crates, forcing them to improvise in ways that seem unsafe and uncomfortable for the dogs. The worst part is how they handle the dogs' basic needs. They allow the dogs to pee and poop inside the room rather than taking them outside for walks, leaving the employees to clean up the mess. This is not only unhealthy for the dogs but also unfair and unsanitary for the staff. It adds unnecessary extra work that could easily be avoided with proper care and attention. On top of all this, they are severely understaffed, which only exacerbates the problems. It’s clear that Dogtopia doesn't care about the safety or well-being of the dogs or their employees. I would strongly advise anyone to look elsewhere for dog care. This place is a disaster!
We just started coming to Dogtopia in Fredericksburg and you can tell the love right away. They are a franchise and this one is a cut above the rest. Our dog loves it and they have great structure set in place to keep the dogs safe, happy, and even have activities planned like the doggy art in which our pup did a painting by licking peanut butter off a ziplock which had a canvas with paint on it. He loves spending time with the dog coaches and his doggy friends.
We take our girl to dogtopia and she LOVES it there. She doesn't want to go home when I pick her up 🤣 I love that they have cameras for you to watch and they always doing a fun event. They have boarded my dog once, no problems. I would highly recommend this doggy daycare to anyone.
The staff are all so great and love my dog like their own. The prices are high but worth it every once in awhile
My four year mini schnauzer was well taken care of and happy while boarding at Dogtopia. He met other schnauzers and enjoyed playing with his new friends. I recommend Dogtopia in Fredericksburg, Virginia to all dog owners.
Treats employees badly as I have seen interactions with associates. The facility is often over extended and places employees in harms way as they are understaffed. I have witnessed that there is not enough space for dogs and often run out of crates. I would rather go to smaller facility where the dog is not just the almighty dollar... Addition: to response .... I didnt expect any less but snarky lack of accountability response . People are able to see with their eyes and hear interactions ... It is truly not a shocker that you brush off any unfavorable feedback! Try checking your database again ... As a business person maybe try being respectful and kind to others it goes along way to customers and associates. I provided honest feedback sorry it may have been a little too much for you :( I really dislike bullies and I think its important to highlight those experiences to improve .
My 2 year old goldendoodle comes home relaxed and tuckered out and the staff is great at providing updates and I trust that they provide him with support and attention while he is in their care.
I have been to a few different dogtopia franchises and this is by far the best location I’ve been to. We moved here from CA and my boys love it! They are so caring and attentive, which is not always the case. I love that they have so many events through the week to tire the pups out. I have 2 very high energy boys (goldendoodle and lab) and there’s never a day they come home and are still insane lol. Pickups are VERY busy, but organized. Drop off is easy and fairly seamless. The team is communicative if anything happens.
Tails and Whiskers is a very reliable, organized, and professional company. Many fail safes were in place, in case of an emergency situation. I felt assured and informed each day of my vacation that my pets were being well cared for, with an attentive caretaker. They were well fed and watered; the litter boxes were clean and neat. They even gathered my mail inside. I highly recommend this service. I will use again with confidence.
I am thrilled to have found Tails and Whiskers! We had a sitter come visit our kitty boys for 10 days while we were out of town and we got daily updates and photos through an easy to use app. The company is well run and has the most loving people to care for your pets. Highly recommend them and will definitely use them for future needs!
Frankie and Terry are BOTH so amazing. Bruno can be a bit nervous with new people and Frankie was so patient with him. He loves his afternoon walks and it gives us such peace of mind knowing that he is card for!!
Frankie and her assistants are top-notch reliable, caring, observant, and professional. We have worked with many sitters through a lifetime of living with cats, and we can’t ask for better service or communication…trustworthy of our beloved friends.
Tails & Whiskers has been amazing for us and our dog, Roxy! Frankie and Liz go above and beyond to make sure Roxy is taken care of and we feel at ease. Roxy is very timid at first but they continue to work with her and help her adjust to them. They definitely know how to take care of every type of dog/animal. We have used Tails & Whiskers for overnight sitting and drop in visits and will continue to use them for as long as we can!
This was our first opportunity to use Tails & Whiskers Pet Sitting and it did not disappoint. From the initial meet and greet with Frankie, to the car Alexis gave our Bogey (cat), we felt we were in good hands. So glad we found them!!
We had never left our cats with anyone besides family— so I was nervous— however from the first contact I had with Frankie I was at ease. She even won over our super shy and anxious cat! She sent pictures of our cats almost everyday she watched them which really brightened our days, making it easier to relax and enjoy our vacation. When we got home it was obvious our cats had been very well taken care of. Frankie was very communicative and professional! Will definitely be using her business again!
I have been using Tails and Whiskers Pet Sitting for many years and would not dream of using anyone else to walk or sit for my dogs. I have recommended them to several friends and everyone has been extremely satisfied with their services. Frankie the owner has been wonderful with all my dogs through sickness and health. She caters to the needs of each individual pet and genuinely cares for them. She is very reliable and never hesitates to help me out at the last minute or adjust the schedule for me. My dogs adore her and I’m so glad I discovered Tails and Whiskers for my pets. I highly recommend you give her a call, you will be happy you did!
Tails & Whiskers Pet Sitting definitely deserves 5 stars! Frankie and her team are extremely reliable and cared for our two cats so very well while we were away. They really went out of their way to make sure our feline family members had everything they needed. Awesome service!! Absolutely recommend them!
We have been using Tails & Whiskers for over a year now for our pet sitting needs for our fat cat, Bear. The website is easy to use for booking and paying in advance for our reservations. Frankie is fantastic! She lets us know how Bear is doing each day via text and brushes him, which sends him into a purring drooling frenzy. She brings in the mail and will water plants/turn on sprinklers for us in addition to taking good care of our fatty. The litter box area is clean when we come home, which is more than I can say for other places we have used previously where litter had been tracked all over the house by the caretaker’s shoes. Coming home from a long trip to a cat litter mess was stressful and frustrating. I don’t have to do anything when I come home after Frankie has been here! Most of all I know Bear has someone who loves animals and is excited to see him. We have used other pet sitting services in the area and could tell that they did not spend any time with him. They would bring in the mail, feed him and leave. We want to make sure that his emotional well being is taken care of, so I can rest easy when we go out of town, knowing Tails & Whiskers is on the case! Highly recommend.
