Our 12-year-old Charlie and 3-year-old Deacon love going to Wendy's! She gives them lots of love, and treats them like her own. And her dog Bekka is so good at welcoming other dogs into her "pack"! Daily car rides and fun off-leash walks in local parks keep our boys happy. Highly recommended!

Wendy Joy provides the absolute best in dog boarding and sitting. When our work required regular monthly travel, it was Wendy Joy who took excellent care of our golden retriever, Chief. Chief was always very happy to see Wendy Joy, and we are always happy to come home to our sweet boy who was wonderfully taken care of and loved in our absence. You won't find any better, more trustworthy or kinder soul than Wendy Joy to leave your sweet animals with. We recommend her enthusiastically and without reservation. She's the real thing.

My Molly loves going to her ' day care' with Wendy. ( for more that 6 years now. ) She is happy and content and I never worry about her. That is a lot for me to say as I am very selective where I leave my dog. Wendy loves my dog as much as I do. I highly recommend this doggy care if you want the best for your doggy.

Our dog Biscuit loves visiting with Wendy! She does a great job keeping the dogs active and well cared for. She has been flexible and accommodating when we go away, and has taken care of Biscuit for several days at a time, and many times. I would definitely recommend!

This is an awesome doggy daycare! Wendy loves dogs, handles them well and treats them like royalty. It's comfortable, spacious and they go for lots of long walks. The dogs always seem happy and contented there.

Wendy is really remarkable. She went out of her way to accommodate my elderly mother and her small dog. I would highly recommend her, she is quick to respond to requests and makes every effort to help out.

Wendy has great dog digs and also will pick up or drop off your dog if needed. Bella loves her walks with Wendy and likes to sit in Wendy's lap when she can, and she's a Big dog ;-)

This is how much my 10-yr.-old Aussie-cross, Kava, loves to stay with Wendy and Bekka. Two years ago, Wendy drove over to pick up Kava in Sidney, as I live in Victoria now. Our cars passed one another in the designated meeting-place parking lot. Kava was sitting in the passenger seat, when I rolled the window down to speak to Wendy. As soon as Kava noticed it was her, she jumped out of the window and into the open window in Wendy's car. No separation anxiety! I feel like I'm doing her a favour by going on vacation. She gets a vacation too. So reassuring. Wendy has a deep respect and love for her canine companions. I wholeheartedly recommend her digs!

Pearl loves staying here. It's a real home for dogs, not a kennel. Wendy treats every dog as if her own. Our first choice for dog boarding.

Wendy took great care of our Lab-x Storm. Lots of attention, love and walks, plus a nice large fenced yard.

Simply the best! My dog, Charley, has been a Camp Yellow Dog camper for more than three years, attending both the day camp and the sleep away camp. He is always excited to go to camp and always returns home happy, content and tired. Julie and Colin provide an absolutely superb service.

I have recently signed my dog Cooper up to be a proud member of the camp crew at Yellow Dog. He has gone to both day camp and also boarded overnight. He absolutely loves it, coming home exhausted at the end of his day or stay, whichever one I have utilized at the time, given my schedule. The location is absolutely beautiful and I know he has an amazing time. I also know he is in good hands with Julie and Colin. They both have calm, warm energy. You know they truly love the dogs and spend ample time with them. They are so professional and engaged with our four legged family members that are in their care. I cannot say enough about how stress free this is for me - knowing he is in good hands and excited to be with them.

My dog had a blast on her 1st overnight stay at Camp Yellow Dog! I can't say enough about how caring, responsible, thorough and conscientious Julie and Colin are towards their clients. I felt very assured and confident that I had left my dog in the best of hands. We'll be back!

Julie and Colin treat the dogs like family! The walk over hill and dale finish with a happy de-twigging and tidy-up and the ride home is one of pure contentment. Rascal always know when we turn onto Mt. Sicker Rd on camp mornings! Thank you for giving him such a good day - and great stay overs! I never have to worry when I am travelling.

As an over protective dog mama, I was so nervous about leaving Reggie with anyone. Julie and Colin put me at ease, they truly love what they do and that shines through. It’s the small details of Pup updates while in vacation. When your pup knows where he is while driving up the road and gets so excited he doesn’t even say bye, you know it’s an awesome place! Julie owns and operates an amazing “camp” for dogs; and makes sure to stimulate both the dogs’ minds and bodies in a positive reinforcement, force free way, always! The property is set up beautifully, and she truly does her due diligence making sure every dog is happy & stress free. I have absolutely no hesitation referring my clients to her on a regular basis. I want to attend Camp Yellow Dog myself! ♥️

Julie and Colin go above and beyond to make our dog feel comfortable at Camp Yellow Dog. It is a welcoming retreat. Our dog has been to Camp a couple of times this year. He enjoys hiking in the beautiful surroundings and then relaxing with the other campers. Thanks Julie and Colin for taking such great care of our dog. Julie runs a fantastic boutique style boarding that is a low stress and positive experience for dogs. Julie is incredibly passionate about providing the best care possibly for our companion animals and takes into account the emotional well-being of each dog that is in her care. She is knowledgeable on dog behaviour and force-free handling and holds a high standard of care. I would not hesitant for a moment to leave my dog in her care or to refer others to do so. The community is very lucky to have a service like this available for our dogs!

Julie and Colin at Camp Yellow Dog are the best of the best. No one has more love and compassion for what they do and the pets who come their way. And if your pet has special needs, or needs a lot of exercise or attention, don't worry -- they will get it. Your only worry will be that it won't want to leave! I highly recommend you check them out.

The staff are super nice and they care about each individual dog and the owners. Our dog spent one day here and was exhausted when she came home. Out of the kennels we have had our dog go to, this is by FAR the best one with prices that are decent and respectable. Highly recommend this kennel for when your fuzzy companion needs a place for a day or multiple! Thanks for having her, we will be back!

Our dog spent 3 weeks at Michael Lake Kennel and we were super pleased with the care he received there with Chelsea . Great communication with her as we checked in periodically. Will definitely be back again! Thanks for everything Chelsea!!

My dog has been here a few times. She seems to enjoy going….she now smiles as we drive onto the property :) All the staff have been very friendly and she warms up to them quickly. She also gets lots of play time with other nice dogs. She comes home tired and happy. The price is fantastic too!

Professional kennel service. My dogs love spending time here when we aren't able to bring them with us on vacation. They have lots of other dogs to play with. Fairly reasonably priced.

First time using this facility, Tia was there for 6 days. I called the kennel twice while I was away for an update, had to leave a message both times, no one ever called me back. When I returned from my trip to pick up my dog, she was covered in mud, and smelled like an old farm animal, her bedding was also covered in mud. The dogs are kept in large outside dirt pens during the day. When I asked the female attendant why I never got a phone call back she said she did not have time to make phone calls because she was the ONLY ONE taking care of TWENTY DOGS!! I do not recommend this kennel as it is obvious they do not have the staff to do the job correctly. We will not be coming back.

I received a lot of positive reviews about this kennel from my friends. Just have some questions before leaving my baby for 2 weeks. Did you already start heating their sleeping spaces? And where dogs are located when it is rainy outside? I am very worried about my girl, don’t want her to get cold 🥶 …

Interesting reviews. We are new on the Island and with the move from Vancouver, we added a new member to our family, that became the #1 member and he is loved to death... Our 11-month old Bailey has had the opportunity to stay with our neighbors and their dog when we are away, but I felt, it's a good idea to find a backup. We have been looking and asking others, but never had a pleasant feedback, until today, when I heard about Michael Lake Kennel. I can see, that the owners of the Kennel have been paying attention to the reviews and acknowledging them, which is so rare and I loved that. Now, I have couple questions before filling the application, if we can bring Bailey for a little while before checking in to get familiar with the place and if he will have to be in the kennel/cage at night. Thank you for bringing this important place to be for our four-legged sweethearts and we'll hope to see you sometimes in the near future.

Michael Lake Kennel took excellent care of our German Shepard when we were travelling in Southeast Asia for 2 months this summer. They were by far the best value for long term boarding in British Columbia. I highly recommend this establishment to take loving care of your Fur Baby.

They have looked after our GSD quite a few times and we'll never look elsewhere. Great friendly, and helpful staff. Very professional, flexible hours greatly appreciated (unlike many other places) and very reasonable fees. Our dog has a few issues although very loving and they always accommodate us. Lovely people, dogs can't wait to get in.

Rob has been amazing with our pup Riley. He takes an interest in each dog, knows who they like to play with, and even if they have a best friend! It's been wonderful. We send her 3 days a week, and she has her social meter filled each day. Rob came highly recommended to us and we can see why!! Riley comes home happily, exhausted from each day. In addition to the day care, Cedar Ridge also offers a boarding service, which we have used, and let me tell you, we have such peace of mind knowing our pup is in good hands! If you are in need of either service, we highly recommend Cedar Ridge.

My dogs love day care here! They are so excited to go when I drop them off, that they sing with excitement from the minute I turn on Townsend road, then are worn out from their fun time when I pick them up. Rob takes great care of them- monitoring the dogs and maintaining their areas. It has been great for socializing our puppy too. It has been a safe and positive environment for them.

Rob and Kelly are fantastic people who truly care about every dog and person that walks through their door. I left my dog, Sonny, in Rob's care while I went out of town for a work trip (not an easy thing for me to do). Once I was sent pictures of how happy Sonny was I instantly felt better. Their new location is absolutely incredible. Highly recommend!!!

Moka absolutely loves going here; so much that she starts barking in the car the minute we get onto the road because she knows exactly where she is! We never hesitate to leave her there when we are away because we know she is well looked after and having the best "vacation". Thank you!!

Rob is amazing with our golden retriever, Frankie! Their setup is fantastic with lots of space to play in, and separate areas for different energy levels. There's even a large covered area for wet days. Our dog always comes home exhausted after a good long day of playing with her friends. The dogs are well managed so we never have to worry for her safety. I highly recommend Cedar Ridge!

Unfortunately the reply to my email inquiry was rushed, unfriendly and unhelpful. I can't speak to the quality of their care.

The staff here are amazing, they gave us new information in regards to the fact that our Samoyed is a bit of a pool hog, (btw: the breed generally will not go in the water) besides that they take excellent care of the dogs in their care, and are extremely upfront and honest about everything.

We were very happy with how they were able to accommodate us with very little notice. We called and got updated well we were away and they had no problem with us calling to see how our old grumpy gator was, and our dog was happy even when we arrived to pick her up after 4 days, she calmly went and laid back down in her favorite shady spot at the property. We really like the idea of the dogs not being kenneled all day , they are free during the day and get out in the evening as well. We will definetly use there service again and the prices are very reasonable too! We recommend.

Sierra, just spent a week at the kennel. This is the second time we used this facility. The owners were very accommodating with check in. They were detailed in the dogs well being and are super friendly. I will bring her back and appreciate the owners taking such good care of her.

Pancake Loves doggy day care when she visits!

We are full-time RV'rs and Sprocket is in her 'yoda' years. We found Not Home Alone from the near-by vet. They walked our Sprocket, took Sprocket selfies sending me updates on the phone. She has two medications both they gave no problem and no extra charge for complex feeding instructions. We have used them one two occasions! The first time I left a tip for them-they GAVE me back change, LOL! (i gave them a tip originally because I found their pricing to be a bit low for what they are doing. Im self-employed and know how I value my own time. just honest folks.) Its so nice to go on a day trip to Vancouver and know i can take the late ferry back and not worry about Sprocket or my STUFF! This message is Sprocket approved!

Darryl and Janie are two of the kindest and most careful people you'll meet. They went out of their way to accommodate us on short notice, and our dog came back tired and happy after a good walk and a social day with four-legged friends. They'll take good care of your dog!

Janie took care of our cat Maggie for almost two weeks and we cannot be happier with her services. She is really professional and your pet is on good hands. My wife and I recently had Daryl and Janie come to our house to take our dog Bart for walks. We were visiting family in Parksville, and they would come to our house twice a day, take Bart for walks and feed him his supper. They are very professional and know what they are doing. We highly recommend Not Home Alone Pet Services, and look forward to them looking after Bart again.
