I fully enjoyed this sit. If you like a rural location, an affectionate dog and 3 silly cats, it’s a great match. Jess is very affectionate, walks well on a lead and once in a forested path is good off leash, quickly responding when called. The cats are pretty low maintenance and ask for loving when they want it. The ducks and goose were no problem. In dry season, there is watering to be done in the young orchard , a few plants in the courtyard and the veggie garden which produced many tasty delights. A manual transmission car was included for getting to the grocery, etc. There were numerous, quite cold, river swimming spots within a 20 minute drive. The pool was fantastic to refresh a hot body and the maintenance was easy. Sue and Rob are very welcoming and a very relaxed couple. I appreciated their low key approach and communication.
I am blessed to have met such a wonderful family before returning to South Africa. Melissa and Harvey invited me to supper with them the night before they were due to begin their holiday. Harvey and Melissa created a huge delicious meal that I was still enjoying two days after they left. They decided to take Dylan, their delightful Daschund, with them so It was just me and an equally delightful kitten called Tabby. I also met Addy and Alyssia, their two lovely daughters. Melissa and Harvey have a lovely home just a 20 minute walk through a small forest to Lidl and the High street. Melissa created a very comprehensive house sitters Manual that contained all the information I needed as a sitter and also listed a large selection of interesting shops, restaurants/pubs and coffee shops that are worthwhile visiting. There is also a convenience store and post office a 5 minute walk down the road from the house and a Craft Brewery just 5 minutes further on. I had a 5-star separate bedroom and bathroom that was a real treat to stay in for the two weeks I was there. It was a very comfortable stay with high speed wi-fi and a huge TV. Thank you Melissa and Harvey for being such wonderful hosts.
Highly recommended sit! We had the very best week exploring the beauty of the Rockies with Marshall, who was a fabulous hiking buddy. He’s an all around wonderful pup, gentle, affectionate and loveable. Lily warmed up quickly to us, and was incredibly curious and entertaining with lots of energy. Marlo and Kelly are welcoming, and friendly and offered a well thought out pet sitting manual. Their home, situated a couple blocks from the main street in Banff was a lovely haven: quiet, clean, light filled and serene. In a short period, we became very attached to the pets and hope to be invited back one day!
Kirsten set me up for success to look after her dogs, including 2 additional Foster dogs, Suki and Eva (huskies). It was a lovely space as well. kirsten was communicative, helpful, and overall just great to collaborate with. Looking forward to helping her in the future!
I thoroughly enjoyed my first experience with TrustedHousesitters at Gill's place near Melle. I had dinner with Gill on the first night and she showed me everything I needed to know about the house and the pets. She introduced me to her friend, Clym, who lives just down the street, and left the contact info for other neighbors, which was helpful as I had a few questions during my stay and they were right there to help. Eddie, Wendy and Tommy were the best company. They are super easy to care for. Eddie and I walked daily, and he's great on the lead. Wendy and Tommy are two of the sweetest cats I have ever met, they are pretty independent but appreciate some petting and treats. I would highly recommend having a car if you pet-sit for Gill as you'll need it to get to most places (no public transportation in the villages here). I took day trips to La Rochelle, and some nearby villages, did yoga at Sheila's and just generally loved sitting in her big yard, playing with Eddie, listening to the birds etc. If you are interested in this area of France, I definitely recommend sitting for GIll!!
Lovely stay looking after marshmallow and the bunnies! Great communication throughout.
