Ashley sat at my house with my dog and two cats. She brought her dog, Trooper, who was very sweet, and her friend Skye. When I met Ashley and Skye they were friendly and seemed to be good with dogs. Ashley came to my house a few days before the sit. We agreed to meet at 1:00-2:00. She contacted me after 1:00 and asked if we could meet at 3:00. She got to my house at 4:00. Ashley didn't send any text or email updates while I was away, though she did respond to me when I texted to ask how things were going. When I got home after being away, the wood floors seemed to be very muddy and dirty. I didn't think too much of this since it was muddy outside because of snow melting. I noticed some dried vomit on the dog bed and wrote Ashley to ask if one of the animals had been sick. She then told me that two days earlier my dog had eaten "a pretty good amount" of food from Taco Bell and had thrown up and had diarrhea afterwards. It was then that I realized that most of the mud on the floor was dried feces. Ashley had washed a rug that my dog must have gone to the bathroom on, but there was more dried feces under the rug. As my dog has long fur on her rear end and back legs, there was also dried feces in her fur. Ashley did not tell me while I was away that my dog had been sick or gotten into her Taco Bell. My dog's leash was missing as was a microphone and headphones that I had on a shelf in my home. I asked Ashley if she or Skye had moved the microphone and headphones. Ashley said they had not. I asked if anyone else had been in my home. Ashley said a friend of hers had come to pick her up at my house and had been in the house for a short time. I was told by zeewoi that this is a violation of their policies. I don't know what happened to my microphone and headphones, but they were in my home when I left and were gone when I came back. My dog had gained weight while I was away, which I was upset about since for months she had been on a diet of a reduced amount of food to lose weight, and had actually lost some weight. Maybe it was just the Taco Bell buffet, but it seemed like a large amount of dog food had been gone through during Ashley's stay. I'm not sure if my feeding instructions were followed. Other things in the house were dirty when I got home- the kitchen table was greasy, the TV screen was dirty- there were drips of something on it, and the finish on another table was damaged. Given all of this I cannot recommend Ashley as a petsitter or housesitter.
Elaine took good care of my cats while I was away, sending me periodic updates with photos. She was neat and went the extra mile to wash sheets and towels before leaving!
