We love Malcolm and Mutts, it’s become a second home for our play-all-day border collie. Aaron and Kaylee treat her like one of the family, and she’s always tuckered out after her stays here. Highly recommend!
My dachshund Matilda has been staying with Malcolm and Mutts for two years now. She is a pandemic puppy so this has really helped with her socialization and bringing her out of her shell! She’s always very relaxed and tired when she gets home 😀 …
Went on vacation for a week and left Sadie at Malcolm & Mutts. Thought is would be a great experience for her. She'd be taken care of and get some training while we were gone. Literally the exact opposite is what I received. I received a broken puppy back; she was lethargic, emaciated, and scared. Sadie had diarrhea, which she has NEVER had before, just like she's never shed the way she is currently. When asked where there any issues I was told she was sick once but recovered quickly after a bland diet. I sent the food and treats she needed for the week and when I picked her up I received the dry food back. Still trying to figure out what happened to my dog but every time I asked I would receive a response that he'd then try to walk back when questioned more about it. Sadie has been on a raw diet her whole life, she's never had diarrhea, never had her coat falling out and never been afraid to go outside. I still have to drag her outside to use the bathroom. She looks and is acting like she was starved. Pictures don't lie, and if you look at the two I'm posting you can clearly see what Sadie looked like before we left versus what she looked like after her week at Malcolm & mutts. I don't recommend.
I think they have good intentions, but it's so disappointing. I used them for a while for my dog..every time he came home he smelled like poop/pee(they don't let you see the inside). I didn't have any other options, so I continued and would just tell my self it's from all the fun. I would pay the extra money for training to be done, I never got a detailed thing at the end of the day so who knows if it ever got done. Sometimes he would come home with scratches. One day he came home a gash in his ear (would post the pic but it's gory). That was my last straw, I messages the owners and got a what felt like a copy and paste response... The owners seem great, but it seems they've lost the spark they had with having the day care.
We've been using Malcolm & Mutts for about a month now for dog walking, doggy daycare, and dog boarding. I love the extra things I can book like a bath, pick up and dropoff, and training! Our pit bull Bruce is still a bit of a puppy but has calmed down after starting daycare and getting so much playtime! Aaron and Kaylee have taken great care of him and helped out with his training which has been a huge relief!
We used Malcolm and Mutts back in August for regular dog daycare twice a week. Our dog had successfully completed a trial day a few months back and we thought it would be good for her to play with dogs during the day rather than being at home alone while we went to work. The first couple of times we dropped her off, she seemed more hesitant and nervous than usual. When we picked her up, she seemed overly relieved, whining and jumping. She has been to another dog daycare before, and we hadn't experienced these behaviors from her previously. We chalked it up to our dog being nervous in a new environment, as we recognize our dog can be a bit hyper-sensitive. Fast-forward a couple of weeks and my boyfriend takes our dog to drop her off for the day at Malcolm & Mutts, she becomes so nervous that she jumps the fence and goes running down the street. My boyfriend chases after her and once he's finally able to catch her, he walks her back to the car and just left with our dog. We never asked for our money back (as we paid for a multi-day package and had a few unused days left) and they didn't contact us to apologize, follow-up, or anything. We have taken our dog back to the original daycare and she has not expressed this nervous/anxious behavior. I'm not sure what happened at Malcolm & Mutts that made our dog so nervous, but each time I picked her up and asked how she did during the day I only received positive feedback.
I dropped off my pup Sparkles for a daycare assessment and he came back happy. Aaron was so friendly, and answered all my questions. He also took the time to listen to and address my questions and concerns. Malcolm and Mutts came highly recommended by many friends and I definitely got a great vibe from Aaron. I just signed up for daycare with them and I can’t wait for my dog to go have a blast there with his new doggo friends.
Our little dog LOVES his day care days! We feel good about the care he gets when he goes to play with his friends each week. When we went away recently we boarded him at Malcolm and Mutts and he did really well there which was a big relief to us. We're glad to have found a place we trust and that our boy enjoys so much!
I used Malcolm & Mutts for daycare and boarding for over a year. Since starting daycare there, I have seen a drastic difference in Leo's socialization skills; he is much more confident and comfortable playing with other dogs. If we were still living in the area, he would still be a regular. I recommend them!
Would not recommend. Last summer, after a week of boarding with Malcom and Mutts, our dog came back home with diarrhea and was SO SKINNY. After asking Aaron if our dog had been acting strange/not eating, he shared that there was a "stomach bug" going around the dogs at M&M and that many dogs had required medicine from their vet. Isn't this something you would tell us immediately at pick up? Not when inquiring 2 days later?! Meanwhile, the huge bag of dog food (and scoop) that I had left, was gone. The bag was brand new and there should have been quite a bit left over. I would NEVER take my dogs here. We since then have found other options and are much happier - now we don't have to worry if/when we go away and can't take the pups with us. Phew!
Great place to take your dogs. Friendly, clean and very responsible. Our dog says he loves it here. Every time we get his go bag out he knows he’s headed to the top dog! He comes home well exercised and always makes new friends. The owners do a great job pairing dogs for play time. And they even offer special bed time treats. Recently our guy has had to begin taking medications and they have gone above and beyond to make sure he gets them all on time. Here’s a photo of him after a long weekend at the kennel.
Top Dog Kennels is beyond outstanding! Craig and Laura, and the staff, truly love/ care for their clients as their own. When you leave your beloved dog, you can be assured that they will have the time of their life during their stay. I’m amazed at the careful prior planning and attention to details TDK’s part to ensure the dogs are teamed with other dogs they’re compatible with during their visit, and also comfortable in their surroundings/ accommodations…almost like a constantly changing jigsaw puzzle that they solve! What gratification when you pick up your precious dog to realize they had a wonderful, exciting, happy , fun filled experience with constant supervision and expert care! I’m so appreciative of the attention and love my dogs receive at TDK. I know my pets will be safe as much as humanly possible, as well as happy, and always are positively exhausted from their invigorating stay! You won’t have any regrets if you choose to board your dog at TDK, in fact, you’ll consider yourself lucky that your dog could stay there and that it was a bargain! I would love to be a dog in my “next life” that was able to stay at TDK! 🐶☺️😂👍🏻🫶🏻 Thank you, Craig and Laura!
Our boy Mac just spent five nights at camp! He made new friends and had the best time. He especially loved the frozen king before bed! We will definitely be booking another stay!
Craig and Laura are two of the kindest people I’ve ever met! Their facility is beautiful and clean, and it is all wide open with clear doors leaving owners with no questions about the care of their pups. The kennels are air conditioned in summer and the floors are heated in the winter, making a cozy and comfortable stay for the pups. They are responsible about meet and greets with dogs and owners before taking on a new client and their open communication is amazing. Boarding my dogs is something I could never do, but sending them to Top Dog is like their second home. It truly is a dogs home away from home. The owners also live right near the facility which allows them fast access (on the rare chance they aren’t there anyways). I have a shepherd that does not always do well with other dogs, and they have worked him into groups of dogs that he never has a problem with. Attached is a photo of Kenai after his time at Top Dog, a very typical state of snoozing. We love Top Dog and Laura and Craig❤️
Top Dog Kennels is absolutely the best! This was the first time that we have kenneled our boys so we were of course a little nervous. Craig and Laura and all of the staff reassured us and kept us up to date on how they were doing. They truly love and treat them like there own ! Maxx and Spencer received such great care and came back to us as very happy boys ! We were so happy and are so confident in Craig and Laura that we already booked our next visit and will continue to make the hour drive to Top Dog Kennels in the future ! Thank you Craig and Laura and staff for all that you do !!
We've been leaving our pup Milo with Laura and Craig for about as long as they've been open. Their love and respect for the animals they take care of shows in everything they do, and the quality of the facilities there are top notch. For as long as my wife and I have dogs (or until Laura and Craig retire) we will continue to use their services. I can't recommend Top Dog Kennel enough as a place you can trust to take wonderful care of your pups, whether it be for daycare, a long weekend, or an extended stay.
Fantastic experience! Kind owners who took the time to make sure my dog and I were familiar and comfortable with the facility before finalizing the overnight booking. Clean, spacious and top-notch care from true dog lovers. Will be back.
Top Dog Kennels, LLC unquestionably distinguishes itself as the premier option for pet owners seeking unparalleled care for their dogs in the Finger Lakes area. The facility's meticulous design, secure environment, and steadfast commitment to personalized care set it apart from any kennel I've employed before. I confidently entrust them with the well-being of my sensitive and high-energy Doberman Pinscher and will continue to do so without hesitation.
Wonderful kennel! This was the first time we took our dog to a kennel and had a fantastic experience. We plan on using them again in the future. They are kind owners and easy to talk with. Very clean and organized. 100% recommend.
Top Dog Kennels is top notch! We have been using them for several years and we are always impressed with the attentiveness to the dogs and the cleanliness of the facility. A great place to take your pups for a holiday.
Bed and Biscuits is just awesome! They have been so accommodating and friendly every time I’m there. My Chocolate Lab June absolutely loves it there. When we pull up in in the morning she can’t get out of the car fast enough. When I pick her up in the evening she is worn out and if you know Labs that’s almost impossible. Especially an 8 month old Lab! I highly recommend Bed and Biscuits of Ithaca.
Staff are friendly and my first impression was good. However, there were some issues with my dog’s stay. I purchased Busy Dog Package and was supposed to get daily photo updates, but no photos at all. I even called them during the stay, they promised me they will send me photos, but not at all. Upon picking up my dog, they offered to provide me some credits as a compensation, but I didn’t get any credits at all. Back home I found a scar at the corner of my dog’s eye, but they didn’t mention it. Hopefully you will take the feedback seriously and improve.
My Golden Retriever certainly enjoys himself at Bed & Biscuit when I board him there. It shows the way he can't wait to get in the front door of their facility when I drop him off there. He is a high energy, high drive Dog and they take good care of him. He was on antibiotics and needed a skin treatment daily the last time he stayed there and the staff did a great job with that as well. The hot spot area looked well on it's way to healing when I picked him up.
Absolutely fantastic! The team at Bed and Biscuit is super friendly and my dog loves them. This is saying a lot since my boy is usually wary of new people. I’ve boarded him here twice and the second time I dropped him off, he couldn’t wait to go. He gave the team member at drop off a big hug. I love that they post photos of the dogs on their Facebook site regularly so I can see my boy and the other cute dogs while I’m away. They always looks so happy. They definitely tailor their service to the individual dog. The site is also very clean and well managed.
Bed and Biscuit was a great place for my dog! He did daycare, as well as occasional boarding, and the staff are wonderful! They do a great job of supervising dogs in daycare, communicating about and addressing any behavioral concerns that come up, and are patient with questions. My dog was always happy to get there and play with other dogs and I was happy knowing he would be well taken care of.
Five star facility and service. We boarded our two dogs for the weekend and had a marvelous experience. The dogs are both rescues so we worry about kenneling them, but the care and kindness they received was extraordinary—right down to the daily (twice in one day) email reports. We are so very grateful and highly recommend the kennel to anyone looking for a home away from home for their pets.
I was a little nervous to board my cat for the first time, but Bed and Biscuit was a wonderful experience. The staff were all friendly and knowledgeable, and it seems like my cat adjusted very well. I'll definitely be back!
It is never easy to leave a pet with someone else let alone strangers. It is doubly anxiety provoking when you have to leave your pet in an emergency situation and in a new city. When faced with such a situation last week, all we could do is look on line and hope that the high reviews that The Bed and Biscuit had received were genuine. I can’t express how relieved I was to discover the gem that The Bed and Biscuit is. My pup came back happy, not stressed, and I could swear cleaner and brushed. The Bed and Breakfast is run by genuinely nice people who love dogs. They offer a wide range of options from day, to short stay, to long stay with bonus packages of entertainment for your pet. I wholeheartedly recommend giving them a try. I know we feel much more calm knowing that our dog will always be well received and happy to go there. It’s always necessary to have a boarding facility at the ready for your pet because you just never know when you’ll need one. Thank you for the great experience!
Thank you Bed N Biscuit of Ithaca for taking such great care of our puppy. Staff was wonderful and very responsive to emails/questions. The pictures showed how much he enjoyed the stay/pampering. We picked up one happy pup.
I have a shorkie, which has more of a shi-tsu traits. My wife and i left her on boarding, clean and with her medium length hair well groomed. She was supposed to stay for a week, but we were able to pick her up a day earlier. We she saw us, she was very happy to see us back, jumping and wanting to be over all over us. We took her back to the car and noticed pee smell, and followed at this, when she calmed herself down, we noticed her tail was a complete mat. She had huge mats under her ears and sticking to pee on her paws. Once at home, we gave her a full bath, but even then her paws still smell to pee. I spent 3 hours trying to undo all the mats she got at the place, but is a never ending work. I sincerely do not know how you treat dog there, leaves much to say when it comes to mine. On top of that, we left food for her that at home usually lasts about 2 weeks, and was surpeised to get a call saying her food was about to run out. In the begginig we thought was a good thing, she was eating well, but even more surprising was to hear that wasn't the case, they served her food with water (i wonder why... i a 1 and a half year dog, not an old one that has no teeth), and they throw it away. As final note, i want to thank you Bed and Biscuit staff, I spent months and many many hours taking care of her hair, and you managed to ruin months work in less than a week, something that even without taking care of her hair would result impossible at home. And please, answer this question: do you leave dogs to walk on their (or other dogs) pee? I surely do not find any explanation at how it could happen.
