Unfortunately, our experience with this sit wasn't great. Although Shanti and her daughter were lovely, we encountered several incidents and unsuitable conditions. The primary issue was the dog’s behavior. Firstly, the two dogs displayed aggressive behavior towards strangers and other dogs during our walks. One incident especially upset an elderly lady when the dogs suddenly acted aggressively towards her without warning. Both dogs had a bad habit of lunging and barking loudly at nearly every second person we encountered. This made us uncomfortable walking them in a neighborhood with many children. The dogs also showed some unfriendly behavior toward us, including growling, lunging, and baring their teeth. On one occasion, rocky came close to biting my face. They barked nonstop from 5:30 am, only stopping briefly when we shouted "ENOUGH," as advised by Shanti, causing us to lose our voices. A neighbor suggested crating them, but we were hesitant because it was small, lacked access to water, food, or a toilet, and the dogs already had to be crated whenever we left the house. Additionally, the dogs urinated on our suitcases and the floor despite being let outside at least five times daily. They also had a bad habit of jumping up on us, leaving scratches on our legs. Finally, the cleanliness of the house was also an issue. We found spiders in the bed and throughout the house. Due to the dog’s behavior and the spiders, I had to book an Airbnb at my own expense while my partner stayed with the dogs. We shared our concerns with Shanti, and she agreed to find a new sitter for the second half of the stay. Both the cat and hamster were lovely and caused no issues. This sit is best suited for very experienced sitters who are prepared for full-time pet care.
We had a wonderful stay in Como at the Cerella Family’s gorgeous home. Bethany was kind enough to pick us up at the train station and gave us a very informative tour before joining her family on holiday. Bethany and Tony were very responsive to texts, and it was a pleasure caring for their beautiful plants and large, comfortable home (with a gorgeous view of the Duomo). We learned so much about plant care from Bethany and the Planta app she set up for us. She loaded all of her plants into the app, along with photos to help us identify and gauge the progress of each one. She also made a video, which was really helpful when learning how to use the fertilizers correctly (It’s really easy after the first time). She was also just a text away if we had any questions. We would simply wake up, check the app and go from room to room doing what needed to be done. The app made it fun and foolproof. 😊 We would wholeheartedly recommend this sit to anyone who cares about plants and can follow a daily schedule before going out to explore the delights Como has to offer. We would also absolutely welcome the chance to do this sit again!
Brenda is a beautiful person, inside and out, and we loved caring for her lake home and especially for her amazing dog Bixby! Best dog ever, smart, patient, independent, but also fun and snuggly. And he sleeps in! We miss him already. This sit was lake living at its best with great neighbors, a beautiful quiet lake, and gorgeous sunsets. We loved kayaking, fishing, and paddleboarding there. Brenda was so generous and made sure we had access to everything we needed to enjoy the home and the area. Highly recommend this sit! Thanks Brenda!
A++ Pet and House sit! Pet Parents , Donna and Jerry, were so warm and welcoming. And their adorable pups , Winnie and Mia were amazing, They are so loving and well behaved, cuddly and fun. They warmed right up to us as if they have known us forever. We all slept together in the upstairs and separate apartment! Their home and garden is so beautiful , well maintained , clean, comfortable and organized. If you want peace and quiet and long, beautiful walks this is it! We thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Thank you for entrusting us with your home and pets. We miss them already! Jennifer and Richard
It was an absolute pleasure to look after Ghillie, Sparkie, Fred and Wilma whilst Rebecca and her family were away. For starters, Ghillie and Sparkie are such wonderful companions. They are playful and happy yet also calm and gentle. It was very easy to fall in love with them. Rebecca and her family were very welcoming. Their house is beautiful and the surrounding area with lovely walks across the field. We had great communication throughout our stay and Ornella sent many WhatsApp videos and photos of the dogs on the beach, walking across the hills and playing in the garden. The tortoises were a fun addition - greeting us when we opened their door every morning. We would drop anything to sit for Rebecca again. Thank you so much for having us!
Plainly stated- this sit was lovely. Sunny and Happy are absolutely wonderful pets. They were easy to love and care for. Both pets are named aptly. I loved that Sunny was so energetic and eager for walks, or really anything that was happening that could include him. He is such a loving pup, and it was nice to curl up with him at the end of a long day and watch a nice film. He was also very quick to alert me to things going on around the house, and people coming onto the property. VERY VERY good boy! Happy did take some time to warm up to me, but he is just as loving as Sunny. When Happy became comfortable with me, he became chatty, cuddly, and very responsive to my requests. I will say that they were Sunny and Happy to me, but not so with each other. I considered it a personal win when I coaxed the pets into sharing the theatre room couch for cuddles without growling or stalking away. Doris & Harald thought of everything and had all necessary instructions well-covered in their sit guide. They included emergency instructions. I felt well-covered by the level of care put into their guide. Their home is beautiful and the surroundings are just as lovely. Their home felt lived-in and filled with love, while simultaneously feeling like a spa. I also loved making dinner in their lovely, bright, well-stocked kitchen (they have every kitchen tool you could think of). I was also grateful to be able to use their car, (which I thought was fine, but now I think I assumed the use was okay- my apology if I had the wrong idea!) for local errands and taking Sunny to doggy daycare. They are very kind and didn't seem to worry about it (I'm still very happy to pay for the toll fee!). Some of the wonderful hidden gems about sitting for them included: 1) limited light pollution. The view of the stars through the trees was stunning, 2) well-situated near some wonderful trails- the Tolt Pipeline trail and Collins Creek trails are lovely, and the people on the trails seemed friendly, and 3) the city is close enough to visit but still far enough to have peace from the busy-ness. Doris & Harald, thank you for welcoming me into your home. I'm grateful to have met your family, and lovely Sunny & Happy. I'm wishing you all every success! If it so pleases you, please keep in touch!
