It was a pleasure to get to know the dogs. Ebony is a rescue lab and as such she is a very gentle soul. Very loving as all labradors are and also highly sensitive. She speaks a lot with her eyes and ears. Due to her high sensitivity I learned a lot from her and I also learned the best way to connect with her, which is very gentle. She has a tendency to run off in the fields in search of food (some labradors are missing a gene which switches off their "I'm full" radar) and so I learned when and when not to have her on the lead and kept a keen eye on her if she would stray off in a different direction to the one in which we were walking. Billy the Yorkshire Terrier is a very loving and loyal dog who is keen to meet other dogs and say hello. I would do my best to put him on the lead during these times because most dog owners don't understand how dogs communicate and can mistake barking for attacking when in fact it's the way they roll. Aside from that I was very comfortable with Billy off the lead and he would effortlessly follow my lead. Both of the dogs enjoyed nice long walks in the fields and they also enjoyed swimming in the streams. If you are walking Ebony I recommend using the harness rather than traditional lead as she has a tendency to pull. I figured out how best to manage this and slowly introduced her to walking either behind, or along side me. I was able to revert back to the regular lead which made it easier for her to play in the streams (which she loves). The home is a nice large traditional cottage with plenty of light and a lovely garden. Both Billy and Ebony are loyal loving dogs that just want to be around you. Be patient with Ebony and cuddle up with both of them, Billy especially wants to be as close to you as possible. Communication and preparation was good from Peter and his partner. If you would like to go for nice long walks right in the thick of the countryside then this is a great place for a holiday.
David and Melinda's home was a great place to visit for a couple of days over the holidays. Edmonds is a sweet town right on Puget Sound and just North of Seattle. In town, I went hiking and we enjoyed a couple good restaurants. It was an easy drive into Seattle. The home is a lovely and comfortable place. It has a great kitchen and fireplace. The main bedroom and bathroom are luxurious! We enjoyed the hot tub during our stay too. If we were there in warmer weather, we definitely would have been in the pool too. Loki is a sweet kitty who preferred quiet one-on-one attention. Dallas, the newest kitty, readily accepted pets and offered prrrrs in return. They were both easy to care for. We had good and detailed instructions that were very helpful. I would spend time with Loki and Dallas again and would recommend this sit to others for sure.
We loved our week here. The house and garden is so lovely in a rural location with lots of great walks and places to visit nearby. The animals were amazing, so friendly. Thanks for having us and making us so welcome.
This sit was wonderful, both cats are so cute and friendly, they warmed up to us very quickly and would always greet us at the door. Amy and Larry’s house is amazing, it has everything you could need and more, on a great location. They were both really nice and answered all of our questions. Definitely recommend!
LOVELY house and fabulous view but mostly it was the endearing, lovable pups, Beau and Teddi AND their delightful Mom that made this experience one of the best! Kim, thank you for being an approachable, fun and communicative host and for providing such comfortable, clean, and beautiful surroundings. I will miss your pups like the dickens!
10/10 I recommend! Meredith and Lucy were my first assignment on THS and it couldn't have been more perfect! Lucy is a cuddle bug and loves to snuggle with you while watching tv and really loves to play fetch! The neighbors were helpful and welcoming and the neighborhood is in a great location, especially for foodies! I felt very safe and comfortable as a solo female. I would recommend to anyone who wants to apply to go for it you won't regret it!
