Laurel was kind enough to watch our home and 6 pets (2 cats, 2 dogs and 2 rats) while we were on vacation in PEI for a week. Overall the experience with Laurel was acceptable, other than a few small issues and one large one that did arise as follows; We provided a very detailed Welcome package as well as word document (similar to the Welcome package on zeewoi) that included several videos that walked through all the pets routines and house needs/uses required. This was circulated to Laurel well in advance of the stay yet she still seemed to have issues and questions that were covered in the documents while we were away. She missed garbage day which left us with a very stinky garage upon coming home. She wanted the home to be kept quite warm (24C) which is not an issue, however she left it at that temperature upon our arrival which left for a very warm sleep as the AC was not able to cool down the home in time. Our screen on our back sliding door was ruined as the dogs likely scratched the screen during her stay to come in, not 100% blaming Laurel, just bringing it to attention. We have a partially blind rescue pup who only knows how to scratch at the back door to alert us she needs to go to the bathroom. The biggest thing that came up was a very last minute notice that she needed to leave for most of the day (9am-4pm) for Thursday to help with her mom. We have not left our pups for more than 4-5 hours and this posed a problem and possible accident scenario. She did decide to split the trip over 2 days (Thurs/Fri) but then Thursday morning (again on very short notice) told us that we needed to find an alternate solution for Friday afternoon as she would be gone for the day instead of just 4-5 hours. We were lucky enough to have our cleaning person coming in that afternoon and she was gracious enough to help us out and let the dogs in/out while she was at our home. This was a very stressful situation for us to deal with on our vacation and it was burdensome to go back and forth several times with the house sitter and Laurel. Unfortunately our flight home was cancelled and Laurel was less than helpful to try and accommodate a visit once she left, Laurel was not very quick to respond sometimes, and she never even attempted to respond to our last text asking if she crated our pup which could have posed a potentially costly situation in our bedroom as she’s a chewer and could have done serious damage in just a few hours. I would recommend Laurel for a house only sit, if you have pets I would only have concern with her not being available to stay at the residence the entire time. Our house was well kept and everything in order upon our arrival.
Tess was great! I reached to her directly to ask if she could sit and she made herself available. Great communication during the sit with texts and pictures. The house was as clean as we left it. She took great care of our Binks and we would wholeheartedly recommend her!
Kara and Mike were fantastic! They communicated well leading up to the sit. They took great care of Ernest, sending regular photo updates, and left the apartment even cleaner than they found it. They were self-sufficient and responsive, including when there was a brief issue with the heating unit. Would 100% recommend and invite back!
