It was a pleasure to be able to House Sit for Marilyn. Her dogs were lovely and enjoyable and her home was quite literally a majestic art piece. I highly recommend house sitting for them.
Skippy is a very gentle and affectionate dog. She's so easy to take care of! The place and the neighbourhood are really nice too! Everything you need is close by. Cathy had the house clean and decorated for us to enjoy the holidays. She is very communicative and easy to talk to.
I took care of Chester and Pippa (dogs) and Mimi and Oscar (cats) for five days. They are four fantastic animals: Chester was immediately a friendly, playful, confident and accepting doggie. Pippa was shy at first, but by afternoon we were firm friends. She left a strong impression on my heart. She is the epitome of gentleness and goodness in a dog. The two cats are affectionate and totally easygoing. They love to sit in your lap (separately) and snooze. Pippa also loved it and would share my lap with a cat. The home: well, for me it was like an oasis. The high walls and gates and enclosed courtyard gave a real sense of seclusion. The weather was very nice, so my favourite place was sitting outside the back on the large patio area overlooking the beautiful garden. I walked in the fields each day with all four furries, and the dogs and I played fetch and tug on the lawn. The booking and handover were relaxed and fuss-free with Susan. She very kindly responded to my text straight away when I had a problem with the tv, and kept in touch at all other times. To any prospective sitters, these four animals are a pleasure to look after. Thank you Susan and Phillip for entrusting your home and beloved pets to me.
I'm really glad I made this booking, and had the chance to spend a long weekend with Titus. This bullmastiff brought me a lot of joy. Upon our introduction, Kelly and Brian prefaced me well with how best to manage his power, youthful enthusiasm, and generous amounts of drool, and each of these elements became an endearing part of our time together. Titus was a good listener, loyal companion, and sweet friend to me for our several days in each other's company. His needs were minimal, other than his desire to connect for any attention you'd like to spare, and he readily settled when I was ready to relax. Kelly and Brian have great structures in place to support an enjoyable existence for dog and humans, and a spacious home in Fletcher with a sprawling yard for Titus to play and roam. Go see you yourself!
We highly recommend this sit for anyone who enjoys quiet country living and wandering around 200 acres of Kent farmland. Wildlife is in abundance and it is a lovely place to watch and admire the wonders of nature. Frazzle, Truffle and Acer were wonderful companions on our walks. While Frazzle is getting on in years, she loved coming with us and we had to restrict how far we walked with her. Truffle and Acer just kept careering around the fields, hedges, thickets, streams, river and ponds and would’ve kept going all day. These are true “working dogs”, trained to work and a delight to walk with, off lead, around the farm. At home they are extremely well mannered, quiet and calm, but also affectionate, enjoying tummy-rubs and general affection throughout the day and especially while sitting with us in the evening. The 16th-century farmhouse is an amazing home with beautiful exposed oak beams. It is quirky but also very practical. An AGA in any housesit is always a bonus for us. When warm, the garden was a lovely peaceful place to sit and have an early coffee or eat a leisurely meal. Claire and Mike were extremely kind and supportive. We spent an interesting evening, before they left on their holiday, chatting about their travels, the farm, work etc. They communicated well and always responded extremely quickly to any queries we had. We were given lots of information about the local area and encouraged to explore it. The sit is relatively isolated, a car is probably essential. The neighbours (who own the farm) are nearby and were lovely to chat to, plus they knew the house and dogs to give extra support. Claire & Mike - thank you so much for allowing us to look after your three adorable dogs, stay in your lovely house, wander the fields and explore the local area. We truly hope that we will be back for a future sit.
How can we possibly sing enough praise for Gabriela and her merry crew? First, she was incredibly accommodating with her schedule, even allowing us to stay two more days than planned after we ran into an issue with our car rental. Second, she went the extra mile to help ensure that Camila and I could even enter the country by writing a note for customs confirming that our presence at her home was both requested and necessary. (Thanks to travel restrictions that would change day to day, this letter was no small thing.) Third – and most important – we were utterly delighted to spend two weeks in the Romanian countryside with an odd mix of the most sweet-natured animals you could hope to find. Puffy and Blackie are a bit shy without Gabriela around – total mama’s girls, those two – but they are also so mild-mannered and will be over the moon if you take them for a walk in the early evening. Tucu the canary can fill the entire house with song. Put a few drops of water into his birdbath every morning for his grooming needs, and you will make his day. Eva the she-turtle was an absolute delight, especially when it came to feedings. She legitimately recognizes her food bottle and will retrieve the cubes straight from your fingers if you’re willing to sit by the pond and give her a minute to warm up to your presence. Last but not least, WILLY MAN(!!!), our ridiculously endearing and adorable 1yo rescue pup that we were soooooo incredibly lucky to look after before he went off to his forever home in Germany. This dude was equal parts silly, scruffy, curious, playful and mischievous. I took a million photos of him during our stay there; it wasn’t anywhere near enough. Rest assured, Gabriela is the ideal home owner you want to sit for during your travels. She's engaging, communicative and glad to offer advice or assistance. The property in Sadu is a tiny home just big enough for two. The yard is quite spacious, though, with tall hedges along the perimeter, offering a bit of privacy from the neighbors. The landscape looks like something out of an oil painting. You can tell that a lot of love and care and thought was put into making this place a sanctuary, a home for all the creatures lucky enough to stay there. You really should experience it for yourself.
