Julia
Julia and Jeppe were friendly and welcoming and they explained everything on my arrival.

I had a wonderful time looking after Pablo and Kanye - they were a great source of joy and laughter! My top memory was watching them play with each other - a friendly catfight :D
Great place and good location. Highly recommend!

Franca
Franca describes her home as “modest”, which we would consider to be something of an understatement. Franca and Russ have built an impressive and extensive home, which is inviting for guests, tastefully appointed and maintained at high standard.
The garden areas are impressive, with extensive landscaping, and attractive garden beds, incorporating clever use of substantial rocks, timbers, and multi-coloured stones. As highlights throughout the garden, and fringing the pool and entertainment areas, are Franca’s very special displays of many varieties of succulents.
Puss is 4 years old (in March 2019), with longish hair, and attractive grey, black and white markings. Puss is quite independent, when it suits her. Then equally happy, when it suits her, to be on the receiving end of stroking and affection from her human companions! We were informed Puss can be cautious on first acquaintance, particularly with males. Fortunately, despite Puss having reason to be upset (a hurt sustained in an accident on the night before her owners’ departure), we passed her security vetting process quickly, and were accepted. It was a delight to see her get better during our stay, and an excuse for more stroking!
The house is modern, with a spacious and comfortable central kitchen and dining area. Two accommodation wings provide ample privacy, and sitters will be very comfortable in the guest wing, which has its own bathroom. The house has all mod cons, including wifi. During our stay, Internet and Telstra mobile mostly worked fine.
Tomerong is a tranquil and agreeable hamlet, with a combined general store and post office. There are several streets of newer houses, all substantial, and all, it seemed to us, with “garden proud” owners. Two of the most common sounds during our late-summer stay were calls from black cockatoos as they flew overhead, a most agreeable screech. Or the sound of lawn mowers in action!
For sitters interested to contribute in the garden, there is an ample supply of garden tools. Edward particularly enjoyed Russ’s motorised edge trimmer and, of course, the ride-on mower!
Nearest substantial shopping centre is at Vincentia, about 10-12 minutes’ drive away. Its facilities include fuel, good Woolworths and Aldi stores, a chemist, and several food outlets and specialty shops. Nearest beach is probably Huskisson, a similar distance away. Sitters will need access to a car.
We had arranged to arrive the afternoon before Franca and Russ departed, and this worked well. There was ample time for introductions and briefings, and Puss knew we had “parental approval” to be there. Franca expertly fired up the outdoor pizza oven, after which no store bought pizza will ever be quite as good! At the end of our stay, we were happy to reciprocate by leaving a meal.
Franca and Russ are charming and friendly people, with standards. They expect no more of sitters than they do themselves and indeed made plain that, for example, gardening by us was optional. We were happy to contribute and we would anticipate that sitters staying in their charming home, with Puss for company, will, like us, deem it a treat and a privilege. Many Thanks, Franca and Russ.

Our trip to Chattanooga was everything we had hoped for and more! We truly fell in love with Evie, Nacho, and Mango as well as their beautiful home on stunning, idyllic Signal Mountain. We did rent a car which you definitely need in their area to sight-see around, but we also found that some of the stops on the mountain were well-stocked enough to gather basic necessities without going “all the way” down to Chattanooga, which was only about 10 minutes from the base of the mountain. Alternatively, if you are primarily there for the sit and not the sight-seeing we could get a surprising amount of deliveries (groceries, food, adult beverages) all quickly right to the home! You wouldn’t go hungry without a car!

We loved the local natural beauty surrounding us on the mountain. A highlight for us was the access road with 3 hairpin turns - you get a truly beautiful almost panoramic view every day - although driving on it is definitely not for the faint of heart (there’s a more practical access road if you’re more sensible than we are!). We also loved the recommendations from the owners, including Pruetts (amazing grocery store) and El Metate (delicious Mexican), and we found it super easy to get down the mountain and into downtown Chattanooga.

The home is located on a quiet cul-de-sac, filled with active families and children and dogs, and the comfortable, settled, calm community vibe made us feel very safe and secure. We enjoyed spending a few days close-to-home, and were able to easily work remotely due to the excellent wifi and convenient, well-appointed office (2 monitors!). Their bed was INCREDIBLY comfortable, we loved their shower, we enjoyed a dip in the hot tub, and we spent a good amount of time relaxing in their outdoor space with the dogs.

Most nights, we explored the food and drink of the city’s unique culinary scene. Some of our favorites were Mayan Kitchen, Whitebird, Whiskey Thief, and The Pickle Barrel. We also enjoyed a city-wide scooter/e-bike tour that gave us an overview of all the sights and sections of Chattanooga. Everyone we met was friendly, the pace was slower than New York :), and we loved being able to visit a smaller city, which is similar in size to where we’re from.

We already miss this fur family! Evie is one of the sweetest dogs we have ever met. She is thrilled to see you and ready for a belly rub immediately! Nacho is the slightly larger brother and also a sweetheart and adorably wants to make sure Evie doesn’t get all the attention! Their back yard is beautiful and we spent some time relaxing and throwing the ball for Nacho and snuggling up Evie. Watching them was not only easy but a lot of fun. Mango is a handsome, chill, affectionate cat. On days when we had to work in the office, he was by our side and quickly became the favorite distraction during Teams calls. (One day he wasn’t with me as he was outside exploring and we missed him so much)! Bonus: Mango is an indoor/outdoor cat so there is no litter box!! All three were such a pleasure to watch and have beautiful personalities.

We had clear instructions on how to feed and take care of everyone. The fenced-in yard and sliding patio doors made it easy for us to give the dogs access to go outside at any time during the day, which they took advantage of - truly a wonderful setup for both the dog owners and the dogs.

Overall, we would give this experience an enthusiastic thumbs up! We hope to be asked to pet sit again, as there is much more we didn’t get to explore in the area, and we honestly miss their animals so much. Thank you for choosing us!
