We really did enjoy our three weeks holding the fort for Fieke, Ronald, Alex and Diederik, who are a friendly and welcoming family (and all speak extremely good English!). Bobbie the cat was an absolute delight, seemingly timid but very much enjoying lots of love and attention when you win her over. She has her cat flap too, so she comes and goes as she pleases. The garden is easy maintenance and lovely to sit in: we just made sure the new plants were kept well watered in the heat. The family home is well equipped with everything you need and is very comfortable. It's is in a lovely situation with every shop you could need on your doorstep. Bennebroek is excellently situated too, and we easily got to visit the coast, Amsterdam, The Hague and Leiden. The family were very helpful in giving us information on travel and where to visit and let us borrow bikes, so we ended up cycling over 250km during our stay. Cycling in Holland turned out to be such an experience and great fun. All in all a lovely housesit and one we'd highly recommend.
