I travelled from Australia for this housesit and was thrilled with the location and beautiful home I was to spend the next 10 days in. Lesley and Robert were the most welcoming homeowners - I arrived the day prior to their departure enabling them to go through Lulu and Lotte's daily routines and needs with me firsthand. They were easygoing and very undemanding cats to care for and were happy to do their own thing during the day having access to the outdoors via their catflap - just a delight. Lesley and Robert's home is just lovely and the location provided me with the opportunity to explore some gorgeous villages and countryside nearby. I would definitely love to return again if the opportunity arises in the future. Thank you Lesley and Robert for a wonderful housesit!!
I thoroughly enjoyed this sit! Both Kevin and Ana are some of the nicest people I've ever met and their cat Tooti was laid back, easy to care for and if you like to garden they have a very nice greenhouse that is very therapuetic to be in. This is a great sit if you want to be in Northern New Mexico and Taos specifically. Highly recommend.
Stormy is such a sweet boy and I knew I'd earned his love when he let me give him belly rubs! He is a super easy cat- he is very independent and spends a lot of time outdoors, but when he was ready to cuddle in the eve he was super sweet and couldn't get enough good ear scratches. Tara is lovely and made me feel super comfortable to make myself at home in her space and coordinating/communication was simple and easy. I would be happy to sit again should the opportunity arise!
Mars is a really sweet en enthousiastic dog. Loves to go on hikes. Is easy in the car. Follows you everywhere in the house. Can also be left alone. We hiked the beautiful Thayne Canyon Desolation Trail with Mars in Mill Creek Canyon: a 15min drive. There is also a nice park nearby: a 5min drive. The apartment is comfortable and in a nice neighboorhood. Totally recommend this sit.
Beautiful Bodie is a wonderful dog! Despite being a puppy he is very well behaved and was a pleasure to look after. Bodie’s home is also what made this a lovely sit - situated in the lovely village of Exton and seconds away from the South Downs Way! Chickens were also very lovely to look after - thank you for providing such beautiful eggs!
Marilyn is affectionate, playful and drop-dead gorgeous. What a sweet kitty! The apartment is contemporary and glamorous, with 2-story high living room ceiling with floor to ceiling windows. In the apartment complex are two beautiful pools and a sky gym for working out with a lovely 8th floor view. There’s also a gem of a cafe in the building with great food, coffee and friendly staff. Hosts Fran and Ollie were welcoming, communicative and responsive at all times. However, during our stay little Marilyn peed on the sofa instead of using her box almost every time—daily litter box cleaning confirmed she used it just once a day—which made the sofa uncomfortable for sitting and gave the room an unpleasant odor. We also experienced a large ant incursion (they were attracted to the cat food), which Fran assured us was unusual but a part of life in the tropics. It was a full day’s effort to clear them out, and the second day they had been reduced to manageable levels. (We put Marilyn’s food bowls on dinner plates with water in them, creating a moat the ants couldn’t breach.) The listing indicates a “brand new apartment,” which we mistook to mean new construction, but must really mean new to the hosts—the complex is probably 10 years old—and in a strange coincidence we actually had stayed in another unit in the same building in 2017 (and it wasn’t new then). There is little storage in the apartment, hence a bit of clutter. Also, the apartment wasn’t very clean—hair on the floor by the bed, even dirty dishes in the sink (no dishwasher FYI). The bed was very comfortable, but the mattress was quite stained—a mattress pad would have helped. The duvet itself (inside the duvet cover) also had many stains and should be replaced. The above issues are easily fixable, and if addressed by the hosts shouldn’t be a dealbreaker for any sitter looking for a comfortable stay in a nice, quiet neighborhood in such a wonderful city.
