We had a very warm and friendly welcome from Luise and Stefan. They were very generous taking us for a pub meal on our arrival and doing a very thorough handover for all the animals. They have a clean, tidy, comfortable and spacious home. Set in lovely grounds with a large duck pond, with a bbq area and plenty of space to chill out. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay looking after Chilli & Coco the cats, who are great characters and who love exploring cars...so do watch out they don't join you on your trips out! They were easy to care for and soon relaxed with us, liking a lap to sit on in the evenings. L'Orange, the runner duck and his pals on the pond kept us amused with their comings and goings. There were several goslings and moorhen chicks when we stayed. We really enjoyed feeding them each day. Luise also has two beautiful horses, who were very gentle. They were taken care of by a friend but we learnt a lot from Luise about their care and it boosted our confidence with horses. There's a lot to do in the surrounding area, a fabulous farm shop and several vineyards and gardens to visit. All in all a great sit to do and we would happily sit again.
I had the most wonderful week here! It's a sanctuary. I love peace and quiet, and I've rarely experienced it like I did here. I felt such a sense of well-being all week. I would love to go back for more. The cats are curious, extremely interactive, and very sweet-natured. And Jane and Keith are terrific and thoughtful hosts. They fed me a delicious dinner when I arrived and made sure I had fresh milk for my morning tea. They left clear and helpful instructions. Everything was easy. I especially enjoyed doing yoga in the loft tower in the mornings, warming up in the hottub on rainy days, and many gorgeous hikes along the water. I'd highly recommend this sit to anyone who enjoys serenity and nature.
Elvis and Dave Junior were great to sit with. They are personable and very affectionate. They enjoy a lot of naps and love being outside on the deck or front porch, they just want to be wherever you are. Dave Junior is a champ at leash walking and Elvis loves walks but does pull a bit at first. Once he gets over his initial excitement he settles down and does fine. I walked them tandem for a few short evening walks but walked them separately for their long morning walks which worked well for me. Everyone in the community knows them and stops to greet them on their walks. 😊 Susan and David's house is beautiful and spacious and the kitchen is well equipped and has loads of prep space if you enjoy cooking. I enjoyed sitting on the front porch with the pups after dinner and we cooled down from our walks on the deck watching the birds eat from the feeders. The pups enjoy wrestling with each other in the livingroom in the evenings. The area is beautiful with so much to do! Visit Biltmore, drive the Blueridge Parkway, go hiking at Chimney Rock State Park, visit all the artsy villages nearby or check out some of the 250 waterfalls in the area! Susan and David are great hosts, you'll enjoy this sit!
We loved our time with Ginger at Adelaide’s. Adelaide had great communication and was extremely accommodating, her house was super clean and tidy when we arrived so we felt right at home. Ginger was lovely. She loved to sit with us on the couch when she wasn’t snoozing on the bed. She is such a cute cat and we loved our time with her. Would definitely recommend sitting for Adelaide with Ginger.
Wonderful kitties, apartment, and stay at Angela’s in Park Slope! Moon and Shadow are wonderful, silly, curious, well-behaved cats who love to play with their toys, and who get very excited about feeding time. I will miss them! They love to sit near you as you work, or greet you at the door when you return. The apartment is in a lively, walkable neighborhood close to the train, but the apartment is on a quiet street. Angela made the key exchange very easy, shared lots of great details in a Google Doc ahead of time, and was really helpful whenever small questions came up. Would absolutely stay here again!
