Our family had the pleasure of house-sitting for Lydia in Long Beach, California, for a little over a month, and it was truly a wonderful experience! From the moment we arrived, Lydia's warmth and thoughtfulness made us feel right at home. She went above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable and enjoyable. Lydia has a sweet medium-sized dog named Hank and five charming cats. As this can be quite a few animals to care for, she arranged for a dog walker to take Hank for a walk every afternoon and a cleaner to come once a week to help us keep the house tidy. Lydia's thoughtfulness was truly amazing; she also allowed us to request extra walks for Hank from her dog walker, Pat, whenever we wanted to go out and explore LA without always having to rush back for Hank’s care. We have a young son, and Lydia's thoughtfulness especially shone through with him. She provided many toys for our stay and childproofed her house extremely well to help him feel safe and happy. Her attentiveness and quick responses to our needs throughout the trip made everything so much easier. The initially anxious kitties soon warmed up to all of us, and we loved getting to know each of their unique personalities. Lydia's home is in a lovely neighborhood close to the beach and a nearby park that our son adored. Walking Hank was always a joy with such beautiful surroundings. Caring for Hank quickly became one of the highlights of our experience. He was very sweet and loving, always so excited to see us whenever we came home. At night, he would sleep under the covers with us, making us feel so cozy and loved. Hank was very well-behaved, wonderful with children, and brought so much joy and energy to our family each day. We will miss him dearly! Our stay truly was fantastic, and we would return in a heartbeat! If you love dogs and cats and appreciate a warm, welcoming host, you'll absolutely love house-sitting for Lydia. We highly recommend this experience—it was truly heartwarming and so memorable for us! PS, some of Lydia’s cats are fosters, so you might not have as many to care for, which could simplify your daily tasks as well! Although with as many as we had, you’re sure to have entertaining days watching them all interact. Highly recommend the experience either way!
Enjoyed taking care of your pets and seeing the beautiful scenery, looking forward to coming back again soon.
I had the pleasure of meeting Melissa and her family the night before the sit began so we could run through everything before their early departure, and it added so much value to the long weekend. The energy of their home is full of love and positivity, and I felt welcomed immediately. The pets are a riot, I felt like I was living in the film homeward bound for a few days. Rosie is clearly the queen of the home, the guard dog who will alert you to intruders (even bunnies and squirrels) but is also commonly caught sleeping downstairs. Romeo just wants to have fun and has those guilty eyes that make you wonder if he did something wrong, which is usually not the case. Last of all Betty, a hungry cat who just wants to be one of the pups and go out to play with the gang (but I wasn't brave enough to let her). Seriously a cool crew, lovely family, cozy house, and fun neighborhood to explore on morning walks - just a short drive from all Madison has to offer. I'd love to come back and sit for them again as this was a no-stress, great weekend away from Milwaukee.
Jenga and Boggle were both easy to care for, large garden and walks straight from the house. I was there just after Christmas and got to have dinner with Louise, Rory and all their sons before their trip, which was lovely. Thank you. I recommend this sit.
