We absolutely LOVE the staff at refreshing paws. It was only our Shiba Inu, Kira’s second stay and she was over the moon. She ran in the door and licked their face she remembered having such an amazing time. The staff are so sweet and I just love them. Kira was in heat during her stay and they still welcomed her with kindness. Will definitely be continuing to use them when we travel!
Our dog Maui loves going to daycare at Refreshing Paws! Very friendly, caring staff that takes great care of the pups!
Very friendly and accommodating. It was my boys first time and could tell they treated him nicely. They were also able to fit me in as soon as I wanted. Thank you for saving this lion! 😅 …
Great and caring owners Doug and Kathy, when my wife passed away they groomed and washed her dog. It gave our family comfort that we would continue to take care of her Great Pyrenes.
Staff was friendly and helpful. The facility came highly recommended. They are very accommodating for special needs. They seem quite organized. I'm sure they get good care. The owner is a vet tech. The cages were large but bare with cement floors. It was loud with all the dogs barking. The outdoor pens were a row of cages with cement floors. Very sparten. There are indoor and outdoor play areas.
Up until recently, we have had family watch our two dogs (beagle and pit/husky mix) when we have gone on vacation. That's no longer an option, so we had to hunt for a good kennel. This is the one!! We were nervous dropping them off, but the good folks at Refreshing Paws (Whitney especially) reassured us that they'd treat them like family. She even called us on our trip to tell us our dogs were doing great, and said we could call anytime! That peace of mind was wonderful. When we came to get the dogs, they were wagging their tails and seemed so happy! A great experience for all!
My dogs went to a kennel in Massachusetts and when I picked them up they were extremely stressed out, at first I assumed it was because they had never been to a kennel before, I tried bringing them back one more time after that, but my 115 lb dog refused to go in. I was apprehensive about trying out another kennel, but Refreshing Paws has turned their kennel experience completely around! Every time I bring them in they are happily wagging their tails and eager to go in! My fur babies are a HUGE part of my family, so ensuring they are cared for and their needs are met is very important to me. I will absolutely continue to bring them in for boarding! 🥰
I’ve been bringing both of my dogs here for boarding for a few years now. No matter where I live (currently in Lewiston), it’s absolutely worth the trip. The staff are always so friendly and so happy to see my pups. I know they are in great hands and I can tell that they love being there. Grooming is fantastic and you can’t beat the prices. So so grateful these guys exist!!
We were struggling to find a suitable doggie daycare for our Bassett Hound and Maltipoo while we went away on spring break. My Maltipoo had never been to a doggie daycare before. I googled different places and saw this place had almost 5 stars. I wish I could give them 10 stars. They are so wonderful! Our Bassett Hound would only eat a certain food while we were gone and the owner of this facility drove to the Veterinarian on her own to buy the food. When I picked the dogs up they were happy and healthy. We could not have asked for a more wonderful facility to leave our dogs at. If you are hesitant, don't be. We will always use Refreshing Paws when we travel.
Doggie groomed to perfection. Lovely staff--caring, thoughtful and professional. Beautiful work on husky mix needing deshedding. Soooo happy.
We used Happy Tails for when we went cross country to California. May 30-June 12 it was under $800 and that included doggy daycare. Our dog was happy and healthy when we got back with no problems at all.
Happy Tails is a warm and friendly place and Rory just absolutely loves going there! They have helped him with his anxiety and often match him with specific dogs that he plays really well with!
So thankful for happy tails! The staff is wonderful and have always been very accommodating to both of my dogs. One of my dogs requires a lot more patience and they have gone above and beyond for him. Plus, they always leave tired and happy! The “report cards” are super cute and fun too.
I have a VERY sensitive dog and this is the only daycare out of the 5 or 6 I have been to that he gets excited to go to in the morning. He is very happy to see each and every member of the staff. Begrudgingly, even the nice lady who does his nails. The owner has a strong presence at the business and he is very passionate about the care of your animals. Keep up the good work guys!
Happy Tails is the best doggy day care we’ve sent our dog to in all of New England!! The staff is friendly and know what they’re doing. Our dog always comes home happy!
I have a 2 year old Siberian husky who attended daycare multiple times. She has been accustomed to daycare since she was 4 months old and had no problems whatsoever. After my dog had spent multiple days a week at Happy Tails, I was told that i needed to have a discussion about my dog’s anxiety during break time. I was not aware that this day care had break time, where they put the dogs in separate kennels that resemble animal shelter cells. I do not kennel my dog, she’s a Siberian husky/malamute mix who is very active. She has attended multiple daycares who do not practice “break time.” She can self regulate, and frankly I am not willing to pay $50 per day for her to be forced to have a break time where she is separated from the other dogs and is locked into a kennel. I am glad that I never brought my older husky to this daycare whom I adopted from the shelter, as I feel these “break” times would have brought back too many traumatic memories. Do not recommend this daycare mainly because they do not know how to handle active dogs and want to discuss “your dog’s anxiety” after they lock them in an individual cell away from all of the other dogs.
I cannot recommend Happy Tails enough. If I could give more than 5 stars I would. They go above and beyond for our two dogs. They conduct pawsonality interviews for new dogs to make sure it’s a good fit for all (I so appreciate that daycare and boarding facilities do this!) and our dog Cleo struggled during hers - she suffers from some anxiety and HT worked through a variety of options - housing her in the larger kennel, housing her with her brother Boots and also trying a crate. I spoke on the phone with the manager multiple times during her first few visits and worked out a plan for her that would ultimately make her the happiest and most successful when staying at HT. The amount of thoughtfulness, professionalism and care that they provide for our dogs is unmatched. Cleo has tried other daycares where she says “nope, not going in.” When we arrive at HT her entire body wiggles from excitement and she cannot wait to go. They know the personalities of our two dogs better than anyone and they have them in the appropriate groups of other dogs they get along with and let them go out to the bathroom together before bed when they board there so they can say goodnight to one another. If only every daycare and boarding facility could be like Happy Tails.
Having just moved to the Portland area, I decided to try Happy Tails out for my two dogs. The moment the owner referred to my Sharpei as a “power breed,” I knew my dogs wouldn’t be treated with the love and kindness they more than deserve. After their two visits, I was told they did well. However, when I tried to schedule them for boarding, the the owner informed me that I would have to bring them at least five times before boarding bc they showed signs of anxiety. Even then, he said they might not be able to board. Thankfully, this is the only place we have ever received this kind of treatment. We now go to a daycare and boarding facility that welcomes my pups with open arms and they have a blast swimming and playing with other dogs.
I've been taking our pup here since she was old enough to go. She LOVES it. We had to stop while she wasn't spayed and life was brutal. I work long shifts, and not many places can accommodate 6:30 AM to 8:00 PM. The staff loves their clients for sure. She's always excited to go, and sleeps like a rock. I drive out of my way to come here. Also have a great walking service with an app to go with to keep you informed! We love Happy Tails
Been to other places and this is by far the absolute best dog day care and boarding around! They are responsible, attentive, kind and dedicated. They get to know each dog and ensure s/he has an excellent experience. My two dogs flip out when we say, "Wanna go to ... Happy Tails?" It's our favorite :)
