Erica is amazing. She loves animals. I didn't worry for one second about my two cats while I was away, and I came home to a pristine home. She is such a calm and serene person, incredibly kind and caring. I would have her back anytime. Five stars! She is wonderful.
A very comfortable and cosy house sit with beautiful company of 3x little doggies following me around, sitting on my lap, wanting to play and snuggle. Excellent communication with Toni who made me feel most welcome. Would do this house sit again.
Thanks to Warren and his dog, Lupe, for a good time on our stay. Lucy, our dog, was welcomed along and had fun playing with Lupe. Warren took us to a private dog park, the Yard Bar, that he belongs to and bought Lucy day passes so we could all come. The AC unit went out during our stay which was untimely in the heat but Warren contacted a repair service as soon as possible to arrange a service call.
We have really enjoyed our sit with Mabel. She is so easy and knows which way she wants to go on each walk. The house is great. We felt so comfortable there. We love to be outside so the decks on 3 sides were perfect for anytime during the day. We walked to Sprouts and Starbucks which were a block away. A few blocks down is a street with many restaurants and bars. We loved the neighborhood vibe. We are really fortunate to stay there again in a few days.
Roanoke is such a beautiful place to visit, with loads of trails that surround the town and a great paved walking/biking trail around the river. We had been before and wanted to come back to see more of the area. We were lucky enough to have been chosen by Allie & Brad for the sit. What a wonderful family they are. We had the pleasure of having dinner with them and their 2 adorable children the evening they left. They are easy to get along with and their cat Maddy took to us right away. Maddy, were to start...well she is the sweetest most adorable cat you've ever meet. She loves attention, being brush, laying on your lap while your watching tv and on good weather days she definitely wants outdoor time. We left her outside for half a day while we went hiking and upon returning she was there to greet us. She's small and doesn't eat much, mostly uses the bathroom outside, so not much litterbox cleaning. Any issue getting her to come in, shake her temptation treat container and she will come a running, We did that once to get her to come in, and rewarded her with 2 tempations! She is very very easy to care for. The home is quite comfortable, the queen guest bedroom was a good size and they left drawer space for us, which is so nice when on a housesit. The outdoor area was wonderful and we spent as much time as the weather allowed on their 3rd story deck looking out at the tree tops. I can highly recommend this sit to any sitter.
Carolyn was incredibly kind and had us over for dinner the night before leaving. We had a lovely conversation with her and her friend over dinner. Ginger is the sweetest little love ball and after taking the first 5 or 6 hours getting to know us always wanted to snuggle on the couch with us or go to the park for a walk! We did have some issues parking our bus as it had been very rainy for 2 days straight before we arrived and the grass lot next to her driveway was not suitable for our 40ft long 9ft wide bus. But thankfully her daughter lived next door and had room for our bus in her gravel lot. Carolyn was very helpful in problem solving that issue upon arrival in the evening. I would also note that Carolyn has many friends and has an open door policy at her house. While we were there- she had people walking past the windows to the kitchen/living room almost daily heading to look at the waterfall. We very much enjoyed our snuggles with Ginger and the breathtaking views from almost every room in the house!
Devon and Liz were superb hosts and their two dogs Roo and Flower full of personality. Their home was clean and tidy with a lovely back garden for the dogs to run in, table and chairs for afternoon lunches and an inflatable jacuzzi for relaxing time. Roo was a springy, kangaroo like dog who’s obsession with tennis balls kept us busy all day. Flower took time to come out of her shell but at the end of the week she was actually running with me and Roo as we chased balls around the back yard. At night Roo sidled up to my husband and I for cuddles under my throw blanket on the sofa and would soon fall fast asleep in my lap. Flower preferred the cozy protection of her own kennel in the other room. Mornings and evenings were filled with taps from the local army base signaling us when it was time to wake and time to relax. Devon and Liz were updated daily with photos and stories. We certainly enjoyed our week there.
