We spent a lovely few weeks in the affectionate, laid back company of Finlay and Dexter, who we are now missing greatly! Jill and her family gave us a warm and friendly welcome and have thought of every detail in their guide to the house and dogs. A great location to explore Wiltshire and beyond, we hope we have the chance to return.
Tess & Carson are incredibly sweet people. They were really understanding when we had some administrative issues with our rental car company leaving us stranded (!) and were so welcoming when we arrived a couple of hours later than planned. They turned an awful day into a not-so-awful one. Willow and Olive are literally the perfect dogs. They are so well trained (even Olive who’s a year younger was so well-behaved on her lead!) that we felt comfortable taking them up to the shops despite this not being a long sit. We cannot sing their praises enough - it’s a true testament to their training. They can even perform tricks!! Willow is a little calmer, being older, and a serious angel on her lead. I don’t think she pulled at all. They entertain themselves around the house too, playing and snoozing together which is incredibly sweet. When they’re crated at bedtime, you honestly don’t hear a peep from them until it’s time to wake up. These are two of the best behaved dogs we’ve ever sat, and it’s made us want to get American golden retrievers ourselves when we’re back at home, which had never really been a conversation before. From a sit that was really only a couple of days, I hope that expresses how impressed we were! We were horrified to hear that a previous sitter had stolen from them, and hope we helped restore their faith at least a tiny bit :) Tess and Carson’s house is in a really convenient neighbourhood within walking distance of Nashville’s Main Street, and is really beautifully done too. If you get a chance to sit for them, you definitely won’t regret helping out these fabulous people. Thank you so much, Carson and Tess!
The only downside to this Sit was "it was not near long enough"... What a beautiful home & a lovely welcoming family. Everything in Gail & Andrew,s home is built for convenience & comfort. Even down to the automatic sky windows to allow a lovely cool breeze to blow thru the widespread patio doors ( and being in the midst of a heatwave, I can assure you that it was very much appreciated!!!) As Gail & Andrew work from home you have the choice of a lovely office space or (as I thoroughly enjoyed) setting up my computer in their huge dinning room which overlooked their very colourful garden and on into the next field which housed the most enormous sheep I have ever seen plus some beautiful horses. It is a lovely tranquile setting to look out onto whilst working & enjoying breakfast. I can think of no better way to start a day!!! My work keeps me fairly busy so I was very happy to be able to relax in the evenings in front of a very large tv which had a very generous list of channels to choose from. I had a very comfortable room which overlooked the garden & once again Gail & Andrew had gone to great lengths (due to the heatwave) to make sure the room had several different fan types to keep the room cool. Bentley & Tilly take a day or two to come round (especially Tilly as she loves being outside) but as with all pets, as soon as they know who it is that is feeding them, they feel obliged to give a little back. Tilly is a right little madam who definitely is the boss which is noticed by the odd little swipe at Bentley, but he is a darling and tends to just wander off. Bentley & Tilly would come in and waken me in the mornings but that was by choice as I love waking up to pets needing feeding. As both cats spend a lot of time outside it means that anyone taking up this lovely Sit has plenty of time to go out & about enjoying their holiday. Bentley & Tilly were no bother whatsoever to look after. You have the best of both worlds at this home, as even though it is very peaceful you are not far from a bigger towns where you have an abundance of restaurants & shops. If you are ever lucky enough to be invited to this lovely home I suggest you do not miss out!!!! Highly recommend this Sit!!!!
This was honestly one of the best sits – Ethel and Moogie are absolute sweethearts (I will miss them following me around everywhere!) and Thea is so lovely, welcoming, and easy-going, it was an absolute pleasure to sit for her. The pooches are (as you can see) adorable and up for a long walk just as much as snoozing on the sofa. There are two gorgeous walks by the river pretty much just down the street (you won’t need directions, Ethel and Moogie will 100% show you the way :) ) – one to the Botanic Gardens and the other to the Kelvingrove Park with some lovely dog-friendly places on the way. Moogie is still very much a pup and loves to play! Her mum can’t be bothered as much – usually, Ethel sitting besides me would watch the toy, then Moogie as she starts going after it, and then just look back at me, without moving a muscle, just happy getting her pets – but she would join in sometimes (often by stealing the toy from Moogie after she'd come back – cheeky!). Kitkit and Bruce Wayne don’t need much, basically just their food and water replaced when needed, though Kitkit lets you pet her if you’re a bit patient as she’s quite shy. Thea was so welcoming, gave me the tour of the house when I arrived and showed me everything I could possibly need. She kindly printed out pooches’ routine and any other instructions for me which was very handy and was just a quick text away if anything would come up – not that it was really needed as she covered all the bases! The house is beautifully decorated, easy to feel at home in, and there’s a lovely garden to hang out with the pooches. It’s also just a short walk from the subway station that takes you to the city centre in minutes - there’s so much to explore in Glasgow but I think that goes without saying! All in all, it was the perfect sit and I would be more than happy to sit for Thea again.
Terri and I hit it off from the very beginning. She was so communicative and open. I was unable to meet with her prior to beginning the sit and she provided detailed instructions regarding access to the home and care of Lily and Henry. We continued the communication throughout my stay to ensure all questions were answered. Lily and Henry welcomed me into their clean and beautiful home. Henry is king of the castle. It was a short stay, but even in that short time, I felt that we became fast friends. The yard is enclosed and safe, which allowed them to move freely in and out of the house. We took a walk up the hill (as suggested by Terri) and the dogs led me on a beautiful journey. They clearly know the route! We all spent time snuggling on the bed and on the couch. I look forward to returning again. Thankful for this opportunity.
We had a really lovely time housesitting in this beautiful house. The dogs are wonderful company and the cats are very sweet and easy to look after! Mark & Rob are also excellent hosts, they were very friendly and gave us many amazing recommendations for things to do in the area. We would love to come again :)
