I had a cozy time hanging out with Romeo, Lucy and Munchkin (the 3 cat siblings) this past Thanksgiving Week. I wanted to explore the Durham area and the house is located at a safe and fantastic neighborhood that is minutes from downtown. When not driving around town, I would frequently stroll to Monuts (amazing cafe). Thanks to Julianne and Fan’s preparations and generosity, I was so cozy in their house. Julianne was also just a text message away when I had a question. Not once did I feel unsafe during my sit. I also got to meet Julianne and Fan in-person which was great! Their guidebook is an easy read and the cat personalities are spot on. Romeo was my constant companion and was punctual at every “salon” visit (aka. brushing time). Munchkin makes the sweetest-funniest postures when sleeping and is a laser hunter. Lucy is a certified princess who would watch her siblings at play then choose when to engage. And oh, there was never a dull moment in the house- Lucy and Munchkin would chase each other and Romeo would lay on my work table as if posing for a photo :) I loved their company. Would sit for Julianne and Fan again if it’s an option! All the best for settling in your beautiful home. Happy holidays and Welcome to NC!
Let me start with the most cuddly and playful pup Kevin he will steal your heart, and yes he does spoon lol lol he loves to be near you. Next is the handsome Wiley so sweet and loving he will lay at your feet and look up with the sweetest eyes. Ahh and the bunnies each with their own special personalities they are adorable fun to watch and feed bananas. Their home is welcoming and the backyard is a sweet oasis to unwind with the pups. Enjoy your morning coffee with cuddles by the pool. We can’t forget their wonderful and thoughtful mommies. Kevin and Wiley would not be the sweet loving dogs they are without such caring mommies. Such a great sit for Amy with Zoe! Zoe was super cute and loved chasing her toys around. She was even patient with me when I had to put some last minute eye drops in. We had lots of fun playing and watching birds on tv together. Amy was so welcoming and made sure I had everything I needed writing down a fantastic welcome guide. Her place is a walkable location in DC close to everything in a really safe area as a solo female sitter. Thank you so much for having me!
I had a wonderful experience with Cheryl and Ross! They were both lovely and great hosts. They are super generous, welcoming and attentive. I could stay a couple days extra and have a friend over (who also thanks them very much). Maggie is a dream! She is the cutest and so sweet. She had a bit of an itchy issue and I bathed her and even though she didn’t like it, she was very well behaved. She loves sleeping on the bed and watching a movie with you! (She thought Avatar was too long tho, she fell asleep halfway through haha). The house is spacious and beautiful and super clean! Maggie doesn’t really shed so even though it is a big house to clean, it’s not too hard 👍🏼. I really recommend this sit and I am forever thankful to Cheryl, Ross and Maggie!
Andy & Elly were very welcoming. They left detailed instructions that were easy to follow. There was even a detailed description of each of the cats and where they regularly hung out. Walker was easy to walk, listened to commands and never pulled on the lead. He was always eager to go on a walk. Their house is in a historic district and we enjoyed exploring the unique architecture in the area. The bus is only a couple of blocks away so it is convenient to get to Frenchman's Street, the French Market or the CBD. We enjoyed our short stay even though we were there during an excessive heat wave. We thank Andy & Elly for their hospitality.
We just finished a week long sit in the countryside near Durham, Ontario that we enjoyed immensely and would highly recommend to other sitters. From the beginning of our communications and during our video “interviews”, we felt a kinship with Ilene and John. They are kind, hospitable and very friendly; just starting their own journey of being house sitters with THS. Ilene is very organized and has everything well laid out as to their expectations in a comprehensive manual. She was great about communicating with us before and during the sit and we enjoyed the homemade loaf of sourdough bread she made for us too. This is a gorgeous well-kept country property with a large family of 25 or so chickens to care for, so sitters must understand there are chores to be done on a schedule. This turned out to be our favourite part of the housesit because the hens were so interesting and fun to interact with….3 chicks were hatched on our watch and we were delighted! The dogs, Jasmine and Mindy, are amazing pets and loved keeping us company around the property. Well behaved and affectionate, we miss them already. Further to the fact that this is a rural property, the home has all the modern conveniences and is very comfortable but our cell phones didn’t get good reception.. The only time the internet went down was during a hard rainstorm but it was back again by morning. Not important to us as retired sitters but important for those not familiar with country living to know. There are 2 nice sized towns within 15 - 30 mins drive so a car is necessary. We sincerely hope we are able to keep in touch with Ilene and John and housesit for them in the future.
