Mimi
We had a great time with the boys in Paradise. Cooper is quite the talker and Oliver is very shy. After a few days Oliver decided we were okay and came out for visits. Mimi and Biff have a beautiful home with everything you will need. Thank you for trusting us with your wonderful home and more importantly trusting us with the boys. I would definitely recommend this sit to anyone.

Helen
Helen’s home is in such a picturesque setting, I would wholeheartedly recommend it for the experience of sitting on the patio by the river whilst the heron slowly walks by and the ducks bring their ducklings to the pond.

I don’t drive so chose to get a cab from Wakefield train station, which was easy and about 40 minutes drive. Helen did provide info on alternative public transport and offered to collect me from the bus station in the nearest town.

There’s a very comfy bed, a huge kitchen, and a well lit space to the side of the living area to work from, which I did during my stay, including having video meetings and the WiFi was fast and reliable for that.

Bring slippers, I had forgotten how cold a real flagstone floor can be, especially next to a river! Helen thoughtfully left blankets in each room to ward off that slight chill that beautiful old buildings have.

Howl is delightful company, and will spend time with you outside on the patio or on your lap in the sitting room. He loves being brushed. He will politely come and let you know when he wants the back door opened or some more food in his bowl. He also loves the game of waiting by the door to run up to the bedroom where he’s not allowed, but it only takes a gentle hand to steer him away.

Helen was very welcoming when I arrived for the handover just before she left for her trip, and made herself available for any questions. She was responsive to messages and had provided all the info I could need in the welcome pack and a handwritten note.

I worked remotely for the duration of the sit, so didn’t get much chance to explore the area, there seemed to be some lovely independent shops in nearby Holmfirth, and some great walks. I would love to return and schedule some time to experience more of the surroundings.

Micah
Micah and Sharmin were fantastic hosts and I would happily come back to care for Atticus and Theo! They invited me over ahead of the sit to walk me through all components of their house and introduced me to their wonderful neighbours. The community they are in is very tight knit in the best way :) Atticus and Theo both have funky food preferences (A on raw meat diet and T being a grazer) but Micah and Sharmin explained it very well so I knew what to expect going into my few days with them. They were very kind when I had a bit of a mix up with my schedule as they were arriving back from their time away. HIGHLY recommend them as hosts in the future :)

Jill
I loved staying with Jill’s two magnificent cats at her charming home. Rex and Ripley are engaging and love attention, their food, and being brushed — when they’re not sleeping, which they do a lot like any happy cats. Jill was clear and thorough in her instructions .She’s friendly and welcoming. The locale can’t be beat. The trails through the protected lagoon are beautiful and interesting, with an easy path to the beach. Highly recommend this special sit!

Susan
We had the most wonderful 12 days looking after a most appreciative Teddy, a gorgeous fluffy golden retriever. As soon as we arrived he came straight over for cuddles on the floor. Susan and Nick’s home is spacious and comfortable and we appreciated the space they had made for us and information leaflets about the area. The home is in an area of Ross with a great network of paths for walking. We would be very happy to look after Teddy and Sandy the rabbit again.
