It was a pleasure to look after such beautiful pets and gorgeous home. Susan and Dom - lovely couple, a shame we didn't meet their children. Susan made a meal that evening and even ran a bath for us! Really kind. Clear instructions of pet and home care and contact numbers of friends, the vet, neighbours etc. Lucy the cleaner came on Thursdays. She was lovely and easy to talk to. Comfortable sitting room which look out to the river Hamble. The kitchen is spacious and easy to keep clean. large bedrooms, 4 toilets, shower room and bathroom - all beautiful and newly renovated. Susan has fantastic taste and a great eye for design. Large utility room with washer and dryer plus an additional fridge which we used during our stay. Susan also made space in the wardrobe and drawers which was great and unexpected as we happily live out of suitcases when sitting! The cats Tink' and Camo are cute and easy to care for, we made effort when they were around to cuddle and fuss them. Tink has a slight eyesight problem but it doesn't seem to hinder her too much she still gets about eats and drinks well. Camo loves to chat and roll around snuggling into you. Both adorable and affectionate. The mini hamsters were easy too they were very active at night, with permission we moved them into another room. It was fun to put them into their exercise ball. Easy to clean out and fun to watch them scurrying about. We have fallen in love with Mikey the Cocker Spaniel, such a cuddly boy. He has melted our hearts. Easy on the lead, he will happily go in the car and travel. We took him everywhere with us - even to Isle of Wight day trip! He is very affectionate he rarely left my side. he sleeps downstairs and never cries in the night, he loves it when you come down in the morning for breakfast! Happily left a meal for them to come home to and ensured all was clean, beds stripped bedding and towels washed. Team Davison loved it here the setting is stunning and wonderfully relaxing, the area is brilliant to explore. An emotional departure in the hope that we may return. We had an awesome experience sitting for Emily and Joe and enjoying wonderful pups Franklin and Jenny . Emily set things up for our sit in a highly organized manner. They have a charming and comfortable home in a lovely neighborhood. The Grandin neighborhood is just a short walk around the corner where we were able to enjoy great restaurants and a terrific used book store. We also walked to the Black Dog Salvage, a really unique warehouse selling furniture from reclaimed wood and repurposed industrial items. Roanoke is a blast. The downtown is less than two miles from the house and loaded with brewpubs and live music venues and art/ crafts galleries. It also has the Mast General Store, which has been around since 1883 and must be seen to be believed. We completed two nearby Blue Ridge hikes during our stay, including the gorgeous apple orchard falls. Of course, the highlight of our stay was spending time with Franklin and Jenny. They are both so sweet and love to cuddle and lie in the guest bed with you.
We arrived Oct 28 departing Nov 5 . We enjoyed our welcome and time with you both. Thank you, very generous. We had an absolutely wonderful sit. Jan and Larry’s home very comfortable, spacious, but easy to maintain, we felt at home staying. Khaleesi their 3 yr sweet pup is affectionate, gentle, so well behaved a wonderful companion. She like our own pup, loving her petting , our company, forest walks, and the two dogs had such fun wrestling, playing. Your instructions were excellent, and notes were simple , clear, easy to follow. Your home is located so close to all amenities and yet quiet and a tranquil paradise, pastoral! Communicationing while away was perfect. We have yet to extend this offer to anyone, but anytime you’d like someone to care for your home, Khaleesi, please do consider us. I've greatly enjoyed Sushi's company for just a couple of days. She's really a gentle and sweet kitty, I liked having her on my lap in the evenings with her favourite blanket and being waken up in the mornings by her gentle touch; I also enjoyed some cozy moments while she was purring next and even on me in bed. She is not a house cat as she also likes to defend her garden and often goes outside just to check that everything is ok (she has a cat flap for this that she can use at all times). She's also gentle when waiting for her food, even when she must have been peckish I could hear only a tiny meaow. Tom, her human, was very friendly and welcoming. He agreed to meet up the day before the sit start for key handover and he kindly showed me around the flat and Sushi's likes and needs. He also kindly showed me how to set the heater which I really appreciated (as the flat can get quite cold when the heater is off) and offered me to use anything I might have needed during my stay. The communication with him - and with Emily as well - was easy and effective before and during my stay; they also have a comprehensive welcome guide which I found useful.The flat is clean and comfortable with the usual amenities. I especially liked the beautiful views from the main bedroom, with squirrels and birds, out to the back garden. If there will be a chance I would like to come back sometime in spring or summer to enjoy more cuddles with Sushi and the beautiful green area surrounding the flat.
