I had the privilege of spending time with one of the most special boys, Finneus, for about 10 days. It was a fantastic and extremely rewarding experience from start to finish. Carolyn and Michael welcomed me into their home on the first night before their departure and made sure I had everything I needed to take care of both Finneus and myself before they left. Carolyn went above and beyond making the space clean, organized, and ready for me to arrive. Their home was cozy, filled with more amazing books than I could have imagined and in a great location. Minutes away is the city of Downtown Silver Spring which has plenty of shops and places to eat. Also the home is only a short drive from DC. Carolyn and Michael were extremely generous in sharing their CSA with me and were extremely responsive when I accidentally locked myself in the front door. Right away they were both on it. I felt extremely supported the whole sit. The neighborhood is super safe and I enjoyed taking laps checking out all the unique homes and beautiful nature right around the corner. Carolyn provided me with one of the most thorough guidebooks, leaving no questions unanswered from where to find the fuse box to how to troubleshoot the standing desk. It was so helpful to feel so prepared. I truly felt appreciated and trusted throughout my stay. Finneus was an absolute gem to spend time with. Carolyn included in the instructions that he would "let me know" how many treats he'd want. Well, let me tell you- he will let you know about everything. I had such an amazing and entertaining time with Finneus. He has indeed grown my love for the felines. I loved watching him sit at the window for hours and simply observe what was going on outside. What's important to know about Finneus is that your trust needs to be patiently built and earned with him, which is what made this sit so rewarding. By the end he was sleeping on my legs in bed and laying close with me on the couch. He is such a special boy that deserves all the patience, love, and compassion in the world. I can't emphasize this enough. If you have a chance to spend time with Finneus in Carolyn and Michael's unique space, I highly recommend it. Should I be back in the area in the future when Carolyn and Michael are to be out of town, I hope to spend time with Finneus again!
