We had a lovely time in Sabrina and Carlo’s home – this house-sit matched well with our preference for a quiet, rural setting where we can experience authentic local life, village markets and cafes, beautiful natural scenery, and lots of loving pets. We liked being able to hike marked trails (and also quiet country roads), right from the house. The surrounding mountains and mountain villages provide lots of opportunities for experiences away from what most tourists experience – exactly the reason we love house-sitting.

The house itself is small. Like many older homes in the mountains it sometimes feels very cozy. It has been renovated with quality materials and workmanship. However, with 2 dogs (both have thick undercoats that shed), and 3 cats it required daily work to keep it clean. Views from the balcony are incredible and change constantly with atmospheric conditions affecting visibility and emphasizing different aspects of the valley scenery.

The pets are very affectionate – we had a cat with us on our bed most nights. The dogs very much enjoy human company, so they appreciate sitters who like to spend most of the day at home. We experienced a few doggy toileting accidents early in our stay – we think they just felt insecure with the change in their environment. They were always very loving toward us and they greeted us enthusiastically every morning and when we returned from our outings.

The cats are very easy – they sleep inside, become active around sunrise and need to be let out, then they spend most of the day independently and outdoors. They appear very punctually for their morning and evening meals and the occasional cuddle during the day.

The chickens are also easy – laying their daily egg in a nesting box very close to the house for easy collection!

Sabrina and Carlo were great communicators and gave us great advice on places to visit. They were very responsive to our WhatsApp messages.

Having a vehicle is necessary for this house-sit.

We really enjoyed our stay and recommend this house-sit to those who enjoy rural settings and plenty of animal contact and affection.

Our stay in Bayfield was nothing short of perfect. The accommodation was A-1 and the doggies were absolutely adorable; we couldn't stop petting and indulging little Sammie and Frankie.

We're glad Wendy and Rocco chose us to care for their home and pets. They were most hospitable and kind in their welcome, making us feel very at ease and 'at home' even though we didn't have the chance to meet in person. It was easy to fit right in immediately and begin enjoying and caring for the little Morkies.

Communication was brilliant from start to finish, and the home was spotless and absolutely comfortable, with every amenity you could want, and true to the description.

Bayfield is a charming little town that offers, among many things like boutique shops, good restaurants and history, opportunities to see golden sunsets over Lake Huron, one of the five Great Lakes.

We couldn't have asked for a better sit; we highly recommend it as one that exceeds five stars!

Annie
We had the most relaxing time in Annie and Dave’s home. I think that the tone was set from the very start when we arrived and met with Annie and Dave as they were so relaxed and welcoming, we were put at ease straight away.
The animals they have are all so lovely and friendly and all have their own personalities. The dogs were calm and playful, our kids especially enjoyed feeding and playing with them, and very easy to take care of. It may seem like a lot of animals to take care of but there wasn’t a huge amount of work involved in the feeding routine, and the animals can be left for the bulk of the day so we were able to explore the area quite easily.
Annie and Dave’s home was warm and comfortable with all of the mod cons that we could need or want, such as in the kitchen, televisions and Wi-Fi, etc.
We had a lovely, relaxing time here and we would highly recommend this Sit to others.

Matt
We had an excellent time looking after Kiko over the ten days we were there.
Matt provided clear instructions regarding Kiko and the home, and thoughtfully left local guides and chocolate and wine!
Kiko was an easy cat, if a little aloof, but then he is a cat.
The bed was comfy and the house well equipped.
We could walk to narrow Neck beach, and for a longer walk, Devonport and Takapuna are quite doable.

Highly recommended.
